Subject. The article focuses on the updating of individualism as a natural ontology of modern liberal economy. Objectives. The aim is to explore the possibility of realizing the real potential of the paradigm of individualism, which may have various forms of manifestation, and may position itself as a new, qualitatively holistic and productive "being". Methods. The methodological perspective and the disciplinary matrix of the study are based on the use of creative potential of the dialectics of "essence and phenomenon", as well as the possibilities of logical and epistemological analysis of modern functional models of socio-economic development. I perform a content analysis of modern domestic and foreign sources of data. Results. It is possible to verify the controversial nature of the judgment about the obsolescence of the neoliberal paradigm of methodological individualism, where it is necessary to distinguish between the dysfunctional monetary-plutocratic form of individualism and the essence of individualism as such, which contains unrealized creative potential of a possible new "being". I offer an approximate outline of the new qualitative integrity of the individualistic concept, where the spiritual-moral and value-semantic attractor becomes the "center of gravity". Conclusions. At present, the individualism needs fundamental updating. The scientific and practical significance of the article’s provisions consists in the attempt to continue the discussion within the search for the most effective model of socio-economic development, the formation of a new subject field, and concretization of the phenomenology of methodological individualism as an ontology of modern political economy analysis.

Subject. The article is devoted to the actualization of individualism as a natural ontology of the modern liberal economy. Objectives. The aim is to explore the possibility of realizing the real potential of the paradigm of individualism, which may have various forms of manifestation, and is positioning itself as a new, qualitatively integral and productive "being". Methods. The methodological perspective and disciplinary matrix of the study are based on the use of creative potential of the dialectic of "essence and phenomenon", as well as possibilities of logical and epistemological analysis of modern functional models of socio-economic development. The study also employs the content analysis of modern domestic and foreign sources. Results. The paper unveils that it is possible to verify the controversial judgment about the obsolescence of the neoliberal paradigm of methodological individualism, where it is necessary to distinguish the dysfunctional monetary-plutocratic form of individualism from the essence of individualism as such, which includes the far from realized creative potential of a possible new "being". An approximate outline of a new qualitative integrity of the individualistic concept is formed, where the spiritual-moral and value-semantic attractor becomes the "center of gravity". Conclusions. At present, individualism, as a natural ontology of modern liberal economy, needs to be significantly updated. The scientific and practical importance of the article’s provisions is an attempt to continue the discussion in the search for the most effective models of socio-economic development, to concretize the phenomenology of methodological individualism as an ontology of modern political economic analysis.

Subject. The article addresses socio-cultural qualitative integrity of individualistic concept as a metaphysical basis of political economy analysis in the context of actualization of non-economic and non-cognitive factors of economic development. Objectives. The aim is to develop a formation sequence of the qualitative integrity of ontological paradigm of individualism as propaedeutics of the innovative form of modern political and economic development of countries and areas worldwide. Methods. The study draws on interdisciplinary, logical and epistemological, and qualitative analysis of individualism as a general basis for the formation and development of the public sector of the modern economy; and the content analysis of modern relevant domestic and foreign sources. Results. The result of the research is the imperative of understanding individualism as a socio-cultural phenomenon, which is a unity of value forms that determine the internal logic of a systematic approach to the modern political and economic analysis of economic development. The paper emphasizes the critical importance of permanent primacy of constitutional principles and freedoms of the individual, as well as the secondary nature of the post-constitutional institutions of coordination, even if they are inclusive and imply the stability of functioning and the unconditional protection of property rights. Conclusions. The scientific and practical significance of paper is in the possibility to use directly the elements of qualitative integrity of the ontological paradigm of Hayek's individualism for the development of an innovative model of political economy analysis of any economic system, taking into account its socio-cultural and civilizational features.

This article explores in what ways political economy as an analytical framework for developmental studies has contributed to scholarships on Indonesian’s contemporary discourse of development. In doing so, it reviews important scholarly works on Indonesian political and economic development since the 1980s. The argument is that given sharp critiques directed at its conceptual and empirical utility for understanding changes taking place in modern Indonesian polity and society, the political economy approach continues to be a significant tool of research specifically in broader context of comparative politics applied to Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia. The focus of this exploration, however, has shifted from the formation of Indonesian bourgeoisie to the reconstitution of bourgeois oligarchy consisting of the alliance between the politico-bureaucratic elite and business families. With this in mind, the parallel relationship of capitalist establishment and the development of the state power in Indonesia is explainable.<br>

Sport tourism has experienced considerable growth in the last decades, either from the sport events perspective or considering an active sport tourism approach. Therefore, some emergent market niches like surf tourism have been developed in numerous coastal destinations to attract sustainability-sensitive tourists due to the ongoing environmental challenges and the socio-economic crisis. Cape Town is positioned in a prominent place in terms of competitiveness, with a considerable variety of beaches and surf spots facing multiple issues. The aim of this study is to try to identify the most competitive beaches and subdistricts in terms of sustainability and to suggest criteria for surf-tourism-related indicators to obtain an overview about this space, using weighting indicators, and applying geography and political economy lenses. The results reveal that Strand, Table View, and Surfers’ Corner are the most competitive beaches. Additionally, beaches located in some underprivileged areas such as Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha are potentially interesting from a socio-economic development point of view, although they show a lack of accommodation infrastructures. These results seem to indicate that those areas should be closely monitored, and destination managers should focus their attention and finance there to obtain a more sustainable surf tourism development.
