Subject. This article deals with the issues related to non-price methods to measure the quantity of capital and value as a basic postulate of economic theory that defines the interpretation of all key characteristics of social production. Objectives. The article aims to develop a model that can help determine the state of the economic system using no abstract concepts of labor and utility. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of logical and mathematical analyses. Results. The article presents a mathematical model of material reproduction that links the range of products produced and prices in terms of material resources and time. Conclusions. Material factors of value formation can be determined. The alternative to the subjectivist approach includes the potential realized both in empirical studies on the economy and in the practice of macroeconomic regulation and planning of areas' economic development.

The aim of the study is to prove that agents organised by market forces tend to create and even more so deepen economic disparities over time. Empirical studies do not reliably describe the trend and causes of interpersonal global inequality in recent decades. Hence, the attention is turned to general economic theory with inspiration from Schumpeterian and neoclassical theories. The results indicate that pure market economy logic will tend to lead to multi-level divergence.

In recent years, presenting the useful information in an effective way has become a great necessity for educators. The opportunities provided by the AR technologies offer practical ways to meet this need of educators. By integrating the digital objects with real-world assets simultaneously, AR helps to concretize abstract concepts, and enhances the sense of reality, which in turn is a huge contribution to learning. In this chapter, it was presented the various limitations and advantages of AR revealed by some empirical studies in the literature. In addition, it was given information about AR development tools/ programs, add-on packages and presented development stages for an exemplary AR book page. The use of the Unity and Vuforia was explained as the development tools. It is believed that this information would be useful for those who will develop AR application which can be easily displayed by mobile or desktop PCs.

The purpose of this study is to investigate key characteristics for the competitiveness in Greek agro-firms during the time period 2004 to 2011, based on firm level financial data. The study attempts to determine the firms' efficiency as well as the impact of exporting activity in agro-firms competitiveness, and more specifically in fisheries, farms with livestock and farms with fruits, vegetables and cereals. Although many empirical studies have been conducted relative to manufacturing firms' financial characteristics, limited research exists on agro-food firms. The use of DEA method seems to be a very useful tool for efficiency assessment and identification of best practices in firms' management for both managers and the Government as well in order to facilitate the growth of the agricultural sector.

The key element of the construction industry is the capital construction, which is finishing and combining efforts of all investment industries and turning material resources into fixed assets, creating conditions for commissioning and use in the social production of means and objects of the labor. At the same time the construction industry is connected with other economy sectors and their end products consumption. Such close interconditionality predetermines need for increase the construction complex efficiency, which is promoting to the increase in rates of economic growth at any particular region and country. The industry’s effective functioning requires creating institutional conditions for the growth and stability. The article is aimed at the questions construction industry regulation and enhances the effectiveness of the institutes, which are participating in this process.

Emperical and theoretical approaches to the assessment of Blom-Singer tracheoesophageal puncture prosthesis performance are described in this paper. The results of empirical studies provide new insights about the behavior of Blom-Singer devices. Namely, the overall average resistance (about 126 cm H 2 O/LPS) of these devices stems from two major factors: air entrance and air exit effects. The magnitudes of airway resistance for each of these factors and the relative contribution each factor makes to the total airway resistance of these prostheses are delineated. The performance of these devices and modifications thereof are shown to be characterized and predicted quite well using a one-dimensional, spring-constant mathematical model.

Topic: Currently, research into the key elements and role of peer support in the aftermath of victimization is limited. This study reviews the types of evidence available, clarifying key concepts in the literature, examining how research is conducted and identifying key characteristics or factors related to peer support in the aftermath of a victimization experience. Method: A scoping review was performed for peer-reviewed papers using predefined search terms. Studies addressing peer support among victims and survivors of crime, traffic accidents, calamities, suicide, and veterans were included. Selection was based on title and abstract and resulted in 16 papers eligible for review. An inductive thematic analysis was used to synthesize data and findings. Findings: Empirical studies into the key elements and role of peer support in the aftermath of victimization are limited in availability and scattered in terms of approach to research (e.g., methodology, type of respondents, type of peer support) and focus (such as focus on effects on mental health and well-being, on key elements or an evaluation of a support program). Studies mainly have an explorative and interpretative character. Key elements, operationalizations, positive outcomes and negative outcomes of peer support are discussed. Conclusion and discussion: The currently available knowledge on peer support in the aftermath of victimization lacks four points: cross-cultural studies, lived experiences as empirical findings, a variety of victimization events and longitudinal studies. Moreover, it is argued that future research should be improved by adopting a contextual and narrative approach.

The article analyzes military transport operating within the Armed Forces logistics system. The proprietary method of its evaluation was presented. The technical subsystem has been characterized with the specification of the requirements it is faced with. General criteria for the assessment of the technical subsystem were identified, distinguishing the equipment, personnel, technical material resources, training and experience of soldiers, as well as their combat readiness and flexibility. The essential part of the discussion is devoted to empirical evaluation. It was made through the analysis of completed transport tasks. The research conducted with respect to the mileages of motor vehicles allows to ascertain whether the system is sufficient to meet the current needs. The mathematical model proposed allows to estimate the development tendency, based on which it is possible to formulate improvement proposals.

The interrelation between creative artists and their public, and active participation on the part of the public in the ‘social production of art’ seems to be a point of consensus in recent sociological literature on art (Becker 1982; Peterson 1976; Wolff 1981). The theoretical consensus is based upon empirical studies which, while focusing on the public, attack a variety of questions. Some of them deal with the socioeconomic characteristics of groups which appreciate different kinds of art and with socioeconomic bases for different kinds and degrees of art appreciation (Bourdieu and Darbel 1969; DiMaggio and Useem 1978a, b). Others try to explain the emergence and/or success of certain styles by the demands and interests of the public. To the extent that ‘public’ refers to the immediate social networks of the artists, such as colleagues, friends, critics, patrons or art dealers, details of influences can be frequently traced in artistic subjects and techniques, and the existence of influences can be verified by investigations of correspondence, memoirs and other documentary material (Haskell 1963; White and White 1965; Zolberg 1982). But these are of little help when it comes to the large impersonal public whose members are unknown to the artist or, as a rule, to the historian and the sociologist as well. For earlier periods, until about the middle of the nineteenth century, it is possible to make plausible inferences. Publics interested in and supporting art and artists were as a rule aristocratic, clerical or upper bourgeois groups, whose tastes and views have been recorded (Baxandall 1972; Watt 1957).
