Access to different internal and external knowledge sources and learning constitute key dimensions of firms' innovation capabilities to the maintenance of their competitive advantage. The increasing emergence of new modes of innovation involving a diversity of multi-stakeholder collaborations between industry, business, academy and civil society represents a challenge not only to firms' collaborative behaviour but the way to organize, integrate and manage new innovative capabilities. In this context this chapter: a) explores and characterizes the different types of innovation ‘underlying' in the current Innovation Tower of Babel and its implications to the firms' cooperative innovation strategy and knowledge governance and b) provides examples of new target organization models, such as living labs and other ‘innovation labs' where these types of innovations are being developed.

Modern technological innovation model of furniture enterprises mainly includes imitative innovation model, cooperative innovation model and independent innovation model. Furniture enterprises face a variety of technological innovation uncertainties, with the uncertainty management and risk management technology, innovators are able to recognize the uncertainties of technological innovation to achieve the transformation from the probability of unknown uncertainty to the probability of known uncertainty, as well as the transformation from uncertainty to certainty, this is beneficial to the furniture enterprises to improve the efficiency of technological innovation and the implementation of the innovation strategy.

Generating innovations is one of the key success factors of companies and organizations. To constantly create new innovations, an effective innovation strategy must be implemented by companies. Therefore, a variation of different strategic frameworks has been formulated. One framework which combines the idea of Open Innovation with startup-based interaction is the startup-orientated cooperative innovation (SOCI) strategy. The PANDA initiative of Fresenius University of Applied Science can be characterized as a coupled process of the SOCI framework. This paper presents the results of a survey, analyzing the impact of PANDA on the innovation strategies of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry based on the innovation attributes defined by the Oslo Manual 2018. The survey was used to compare 12 PANDA project evaluations implementing by European chemical and pharmaceutical companies. The main results of this study show that PANDA represents an effective tool to foster early-stage innovation development and indicates general effectiveness of SOCI strategies for chemical and pharmaceutical companies.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest synteza diagnozy doświadczeń funkcjonowania regionalnych strategii innowacji (Regional Innovation Strategy - RIS) ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem potrzeby i możliwości wspierania ich rozwoju w procesie absorpcji funduszy strukturalnych w nowym okresie budżetowym Unii Europejskiej (lata 2007-2013). Autor skoncentrował uwagę na analizie najlepszych praktyk przodujących polskich regionów (województw) w tej dziedzinie. Zarysował również koncepcję poszukiwania nowego modelu regionalnych strategii innowacji w Polsce.

This exploratory study looks at the innovation strategies employed during specific stages of the firm lifecycle for small businesses. The study locates and uncovers seven themes surrounding the intersection of innovation strategies and the different stages of the firm. In so doing, future directions to answer the questions uncovered by this exploratory study are suggested.

Subject. This article discusses the development of a differentiated strategy of innovative development taking into account the distinguishing features of Russia's regions. Objectives. The article aims to improve the effectiveness of innovative development strategies for Russian regions, which vary in the level of science, technology, and innovation capacities. Methods. For the study, we used statistical, and economic and mathematical methods, normalization principle, the methods of comparative, and expert and sociological analyses, foresight techniques, and original region assessment techniques. Results. The article presents certain criteria for differentiation of Russia's regions, taking into account the level of development of scientific and technical activities, and it proposes three modifications of the regional innovation strategy, corresponding to the main types of Russian regions by scientific and technological development. Conclusions. A differentiated approach to a regional innovation strategy development can improve the efficiency and targeting of government innovation policies by making better use of available resources.

Small and Medium Enterprises and Indonesian Cooperatives (SMESCO) are strategies in promoting and introducing Indonesia's superior products to the international community. Through SMESCO, SME owners can work together on standardization of SME products, SME quality standardization and at the same time a forum for fostering SMEs to market their products, through human resource development programs including seminars, training, workshops and product introduction through online shops and mentoring programs. The research aims to prove and analyse the influence of: innovation strategies on the performance of SMEs in SMESCO Indonesia directly or through competitive advantage; innovation strategy towards competitive advantage; competitive advantage towards the performance of SMEs at SMESCO Indonesia. The research population is all SME companies that partner with SMESCO Indonesia. Sampling is done by probability sampling with a simple random sampling method. Data analysis using Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares, a sample of 147 small and medium business owners at SMESCO Indonesia. The results of the study prove: (1) The innovation strategy does not directly have a significant effect on the increasing performance of SME companies in SMESCO Indonesia but has a significant effect through competitive advantage; (2) Competitive advantage has a significanteffect on the increasing performance of SMEs in Indonesia.
