Evaluation of energy utilization and identification become energy saving opportunities, as well as recommendations for increasing efficiency, on energy use and use of energy sources in the context of energy conservation This paper aims to describe the audit of electrical energy in the Lido Graha Lhokseumawe Hotel room, by taking samples in different room types and conducting an electrical energy audit on the use of installed lights and air conditioners. The method used in this study is data collection, interviews, observations and direct measurements on the use of lights and AC (Air Conditioning). The data analysis technique used is to determine the estimated value of electricity consumption and how much it will cost for electricity. From the results of calculations and analysis obtained total electricity consumption needs based on the type of room with various types of loads used 855.62 kWh/days with costs that must be spent per day is Rp. 1,190,574.96, 25,668.6 kWh/month with a monthly cost of Rp. 35,087,608.60. Whereas for a year electricity demand is 308,494.8 kWh/year with a cost of Rp. 421,051,305.24.

This paper analyzes the actual situation of the electricity management about student apartments, and design intelligent energy student housing management system based on CAN bus. The system uses the field level, the underlying management level and upper management level three management systems. Field level with a dedicated energy metering chip AD7755 and STM32F103 microcontroller with A/D conversion function as the core, to achieve real-time power measurement; via CAN bus timing or random read live energy data for monitoring electricity consumption of the apartment, investigate abnormal electricity, thus effectively limiting the students to use electrical power to achieve the modernization and automation of power management solutions student apartments.

The increasing demand for electrical energy and the decreasing supply of fossil fuels in recent years have increased the cost of electrical energy. So that the culture of saving electrical energy is a habit that must be cultivated in the community. On the other hand, energy-saving behavior cannot be realized massively without a support system that can control energy use. With these concerns, it is necessary to develop a method that encourages a culture of saving electrical energy. This paper proposes a system that supports active energy efficiency methods that can support an energy-efficient culture. This system is an electric power monitoring system that is integrated with a smart electrical panel that continuously monitors the use of electrical energy and can control electrical loads automatically, record electricity usage, provide comprehensive reports and analyze energy usage. The method used to carry out this research is research and development. This research has produced a prototype of electrical power control and monitoring system that has a smart panel based on a raspberry PI 3 and PZEM-004t power energy meter. The monitoring system performs and executes automatic control of electrical loads. The system can also provide reports in the form of data monitoring in daily, weekly, monthly or annual period. From the test results, it can be concluded that the system can work well. This research is expected to contribute to providing a system that can support government efforts in saving energy.

This study aims to design a Solar Home System with an Arduino-based Smart Switching system so that the use of electrical energy generated by solar panels can be adjusted without adding power from other electricity sources, such as PLN. Calculation of Leveled Cost of Energy (LCOE) is used as the basis for the switching process that will be carried out to regulate the use of household appliances that are routinely used, regulate electricity consumption automatically, minimize usage, and calculate the effectiveness of electric power usage. The way SHS works is to collect electrical energy from sunlight, then convert DC voltage to AC so that it can be used to run household electronic equipment. To accommodate the adequacy of electrical power, an automatic adjustment is made for household appliances that are routinely used, namely house lights, which includes setting the lights on and off and the number of lights that can be activated. The advantage of this research is that the SHS system is integrated with the automatic setting of the lights installed in the house so that the number of lights on will adjust the availability of electrical energy in the battery. In addition, with the LCOE method, the level of usage can be calculated so that users can save electricity. From the results of usage testing, it is found that the application of this switching technology provides benefits for users because it is no longer dependent on PLN supply. From an economic point of view, based on the calculation of Leveled Cost of Energy (LCOE), there is a kWh value savings of Rp. 77, - for each kWh price or about 4.53% compared to purchasing electricity with prepaid mode.

Buildings account for significant energy consumption worldwide particularly in regions where energy patterns influenced primarily by weather. Air conditioning system became an essential evaluation factor during building design and construction. The level of curiosity about air conditioning system efficiency in terms of energy usage is increasing quickly. In Kuwait; which is a hot climate country; air conditioners account for 70% of total electrical power. Electricity in Kuwait is produced entirely by the non-renewable energy resources. This work aims to assess the potential electrical savings that could be acquired by reducing building’s façade area towards East-West directional orientation in Kuwait. For this purpose, a detached building model with uniform geometry; was simulated by Energy Plus Thermal Simulation Engine through its interface with DesignBuilder software. Two cases were developed for the analysis; both have the same simulation inputs. The only difference was the orientation of the facades. The results show a reduction of about 900 kWh cooling annually if the largest facades were positioned towards north and south. The obtained saving in annual basis is attributed to about 420 kWh electrical power. Equivalent CO2 emissions associated with the saved electrical energy from power plants in Kuwait were estimated. The resulted savings are promising for early decision making for prospective buildings to be built in future.

This paper evaluates a large-scale appliance replacement program in Mexico that from 2009 to 2012 helped 1.9 million households replace their old refrigerators and air conditioners with energy-efficient models. Using household-level billing records from  the universe of Mexican residential customers, we find that refrigerator replacement reduces electricity consumption by 8 percent, about one-quarter of what was predicted by ex ante analyses. Moreover, we find that air conditioning replacement actually increases electricity consumption. Overall, we find that the program is an expensive way to reduce externalities from energy use, reducing carbon dioxide emissions at a program cost of over $500 per ton. Electricity supply has been identified as the key constraint to industrialization and economic development in Nigeria. The unbundling of the power sector was aimed at boosting electricity supply, this effort has yielded some appreciable results, but not very significant. As a result of the low power generation and distribution, Nigeria’s federal government is working towards solving the prevailing problems of inadequate power in some key sectors by building power generating plants in some of the institutions of learning in the country. This paper looks at the determinants of electrical energy consumption and electrical energy audit, a case study of the University of Jos. The load profiles demand survey, load demand forecast and other important factors were investigated. The result revealed that there is available power of 22–23 hours from the national grid and the balance 1–2 hours of power is supplied by the generating sets, good savings in the cost of diesel and maintenance. An annual excess of 2,199,900 kWH is enjoyed by the university over the national per capita power consumption.

With power conversion losses endemic in all areas of electricity consumption, broadlycategorized into motion control (accounting for around 50% of total electrical energy use), lighting,air conditioning, and information technology, consumers, governments and utilities are finding waysto achieve higher efficiency. Manufacturers of data servers, telecom systems, solar power invertersand drives for motor control are focused on reducing power conversion losses while simultaneouslyshrinking the size of power systems. Although silicon has historically been the base device materialused by the power conversion industry, it is rapidly reaching its physical performance limits. GaNsemiconductors solutions reduce power conversion loss by over 50% in a significantly smaller formfactor and at a lower cost, when device design, fabrication technology and application design areholistically combined to deliver superior end products.

The economic development of a country is often closely linked to its consumption of energy. The government has taken new steps for the development of renewable energy sources and less consideration in conservation of electrical energy in the society. According to the current scenario the demand of energy has increased and became a routine process in our lifestyle. Why electrical auditing and management is essential? Energy audit is the survey of wastage power in different areas like domestic houses, commercial buildings and industries etc. For getting solution to save electrical energy, energy auditing is best way. So we found in India the demand of electrical power rises at the rate of 9-10 % per annum while the generation of electrical power rises at the rate of 5-6 % per annum, ultimately the gap between demand and generation of electrical power is widening at the rate of 3-4 % per annum. Electrical energy auditing and management program can have an originating within one division of saving, motivating people in all forms to undergo conservation activities. In this project we had done the Energy audit in residential house.

All over the world energy is used for different purposes and hence its continuous high demand which has brought about an increase in crisis and prices of energy. Ghana has faced a lot of supply and high electricity consumption challenges over a period of time. The Energy Commission of Ghana has developed regulations and guidelines to help reduce high consumption challenges among users, these included the replacement of incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs, ban of importation of low energy efficient appliances. In spite of the effort to reduce electricity wastage, there is still a high increase in electricity consumption. The research investigated what contributed to electricity consumption in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with the lecture halls as the main focus, the research also analyzed the current occupant behavior characterized by the electrical energy consumption practices. And investigated how the contemporary theories for reducing energy consumption was used in the lecture halls. A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate occupants on their energy use practices in lecture halls that causes wastages, observation was made to establish relevant data on the use of contemporary theories for energy reduction in lecture halls. In a total of 110 occupants that responded to the questionnaire, 79 occupants almost always turn off electrical fitting and fixtures when not in use. From the responses, a majority of the occupants claimed to comply to best practices of energy use. The research concluded that some contemporary theories to reduce energy consumptions was not used and considered in the lecture halls.

ABSTRACTThe government efforts to maintain national energy stability program through the increase energy supply and saving must be supported by all levels of society. Several energy observers and experts stated that the contribution of the domestic or household sector in the activities of energy saving program is quite significant because the percentage of household customers are relatively high. This paper analyzes the potential of providing research data on the percentage of electricity savings in the domestic or household sectors towards saving electricity nationally. The results of the study show that electrical devices commonly used in households still have the potential to be saved. Electrical devices that are often used at households and have great saving potentials are air conditioners and refrigerators. If each household customer saves 30% of electricity consumption, then the national electricity supply that can be saved will be around 5,679 GW, equivalent to 83.3 trillion rupiah. The saving program resulted in savings of electricity consumption of around 6% of all household consumers or around 2.9% of total national electricity consumption.Keywords: electrical energy, savings, households ABSTRAKUpaya pemerintah dalam menjaga kestabilan energi nasional melalui program peningkatan pasokan dan penghematan energi harus didukung oleh seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menganalisis tentang potensi persentase penghematan energi listrik sektor domestik atau rumah tangga terhadap  penghematan listrik secara nasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa piranti listrik yang biasa digunakan pada rumah tangga masih memiliki potensi untuk dilakukan penghematan. Piranti listrik yang sering digunakan pada rumah tangga dan memiliki potensi penghematan yang besar adalah alat pendingin ruangan (AC) dan kulkas. Bila setiap pelanggan rumah tangga melakukan penghematan konsumsi energi listriknya sebesar 30%, maka pasokan listrik nasional yang dapat dihemat adalah sekitar 5.679 GW atau setara dengan 83,3 Trilyun rupiah. Upaya ini menghasilkan penghematan konsumsi listrik sekitar 6% dari seluruh konsumen rumah tangga atau sekitar 2,9 % dari total konsumsi energi listrik nasional.Kata kunci: energi listrik, penghematan, rumah tangga
