PT MTG is a company engaged in the gears and mechanical part component. In the current condition, PT MTG has an effort to improve the company's work efficiency through with an efficiency target of 80%. However, the current problem is that the company does not yet have the right method for evaluating and detecting factors that inhibit increased productivity on the "TMM 1" and "TMM 2" production lines. To find out the right method for PT MTG, two productivity measurement methods are used in total with the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and partially with the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method. In measuring productivity with the OEE method, it can be seen six big losses that occur in each machine on each production line. Whereas in the OMAX method, measurement of productivity is used 4 criteria to determine the company's productivity index, namely (1) Minimization of Defective Products; (2) Optimizing Production Capacity; (3) Efficient Use of Labor; (4) Minimize Absence of Work. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, the average overall OEE value for the "TMM 1" and "TMM 2" production lines is 0.32% and 0.321%. The OEE value still does not meet the JIPM standard of 85%. Whereas in the OMAX results, the average productivity index value of the two production lines is 140.80 per month from the optimal value of 1000. The factor influencing the two methods for not achieving the target is the amount of production per month that differs more than 55% of the production plan. Whereas in OEE, excess production is not considered a loss. So, for the current conditions the right method of measuring productivity for PT MTG is the OMAX Method.

Astra International Tbk. Auto 2000 branch Kenjeran is a company department in sales, service and spare parts services. To evaluate the productivity in the service department for this time, it is necessary to measure productivity properly and correctly because productivity measures can be used as material for consideration in carrying out an upcoming productivity planning. This research was conducted in January-December 2013. The productivity method used is the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method. From the results of productivity measurements, it is known that the best productivity occurs in July, which is equal to 768.8, well above the standard value of 300. The worst productivity occurred in February, which amounted to equal 174,8. From the achievement of the score it can be seen that the criteria that do not contribute to the productivity index are criteria 1, namely the comparison between unit handling and the use of working hours because it has the smallest score to equal 47. The strategy for increasing productivity is to evaluate the causes of decreasing productivity in the lowest criteria.

PT. ABC is a company engaged in the manufacture of Dolomite Fertilizer. The number of requests is greater than the amount of production. Due to fluctuations in the number of requests that tend to increase, this occurs due to a lack of capacity at the workstation. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the capacity requirements planning analysis for each work station to know the company's capacity needs. The research aims to identify the shortage/excess production capacity and provide proposals for the balance of production capacity at PT. A B C. Production capacity research was conducted using the Capacity Requirement Planning (CRP) method. Results and Discussion, comparison of available capacity and required capacity (load) are as follows, work station jaw crusher available capacity 36.74 hours/week while required capacity (load) 36 hours/week, work station bucket elevator available capacity 36, 74 hours/week while the required capacity (load) is 14.4 hours/week, work station ball mill available capacity is 36.74 hours/week while the required capacity (load) is 45.6 hours/week, and work station silo flour the available capacity is 36.74 hours/week while the required capacity (load) is 51.59 hours/week. In conclusion, two stations experience excess capacity, namely the jaw crusher work station with an excess capacity of 0.74 hours/week and the bucket elevator work station with an excess capacity of 22.34 hours/week. The other two work stations experienced a lack of capacity, namely the ball mill work station with a capacity shortage of 22.34 hours/week and the silo flour work station with a capacity shortage of 14.85 hours/week. Efforts to balance capacity by scheduling overtime and adding equipment (machinery) to work centers that lack capacity, so that the company's production targets are achieved.

Poor workstation designs represent a risk factor for operators in assembly production lines. Anthropometric design of workstations facilitates the sustainable development of the workplace. This paper proposes a novel integrated approach about work standardization and anthropometric workstation design as a strategy to increase human factor performance as well as the productivity index in manufacturing companies. The integrating approach is presented through a case study in a publishing press company with operators who perform manual and mechanical tasks in production lines in the box assembly department. Currently, the company’s production capacity is below demand, and in order to satisfy customers’ requirements, the company pays a lot of overtime to operators. In order to solve this problem, the integrated approach was applied. The findings indicated that inefficient movements and body postures in operators decreased from 230 to 78, and the standard time was reduced from 244 to 199 s for each assembled box. In addition, the production rate increased by 229 units per assembly line per day, and overtime was eliminated. Therefore, the novel integrated approach allows the increase of sustainability in the company and the operators’ well-being by making a better use of the human factor, eliminating overtime, and increasing production capacity.

Abstract The labour productivity index is a mainstay measure for comparing countries’ relative economic performance, but the Covid-19 pandemic could expose some of its inherent limitations: it focuses on people in work and ignores unemployment, and it is not standardised. In theory, a country’s index value could increase, even though its GDP might fall, because of significant increased unemployment in low-productivity sectors such as tourism and retail. It follows that the index value could fall when these sectors recover. Also, high-performing countries could see their index value fall because of the pandemic’s impact in high-value sectors, such as demand for oil.Consequently, a wider perspective of productivity is necessary. This paper, therefore, proposes a complementary index which adjusts labour productivity for levels of unemployment—the social labour productivity index (SLPI)—and recommends that the labour productivity index itself should be standardised. The relationship between employment and productivity is complex. For example, the UK’s economic performance, involving comparatively low labour productivity and low unemployment, has been deemed a ‘productivity puzzle’. A literature review discusses this relationship, but it is clear that econometric worldwide evaluation requires very large data sets, that are unlikely to be routinely available in practice to monitor international performance. By contrast, data sets on national productivity are small and already available, although they contain little or no data on causal factors. SLPI values were calculated for differing levels of unemployment and relative labour productivity for newly employed workers for countries where data was available; with patterns over the period 1986–2016 established for the G7 countries, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, and Spain. There were marked variations between the two indices for countries with high unemployment. The SLPI presents a practicable measure which can be utilised quickly in these unprecedented times. Using available data to compare countries’ GDP with their total workforce, it arguably provides a better measure of their overall economic and social health. Sensitivity analyses varying assumptions can model differing potential scenarios to sit alongside GDP and labour productivity index predictions.

A model of production funds acquisition, which includes two differential links of the zero order and two series-connected inertial links, is considered in a one-sector economy. Zero-order differential links correspond to the equations of the Ramsey model. These equations contain scalar bounded control, which determines the distribution of the available funds into two parts: investment and consumption. Two series-connected inertial links describe the dynamics of the changes in the volume of the actual production at the current production capacity. For the considered control system, the problem is posed to maximize the average consumption value over a given time interval. The properties of optimal control are analytically established using the Pontryagin maximum principle. The cases are highlighted when such control is a bang-bang, as well as the cases when, along with bang-bang (non-singular) portions, control can contain a singular arc. At the same time, concatenation of singular and non-singular portions is carried out using chattering. A bang-bang suboptimal control is presented, which is close to the optimal one according to the given quality criterion. A positional terminal control is proposed for the first approximation when a suboptimal control with a given deviation of the objective function from the optimal value is numerically found. The obtained results are confirmed by the corresponding numerical calculations.

Abstract Conservation reserve program (CRP) participants in Alabama were surveyed to determine the probable utilization of CRP acres should the contracts expire without opportunity for renewal. From over 9000 contracts established between 1986 and 1995, 594 contracts were randomly selected and surveyed for the study. Two hundred and fourteen surveys were completed and returned. Of these, 204 (34%) were usable. Results indicate that 90% of CRP tree acres would be retained in trees while nearly 60% of CRP grass acres would be converted to row crop production. In addition, there are no significant differences in the response between the minority and white participants with regard to the intended use of CRP acres. Therefore, for sustained mitigation of soil loss and reduction of excess production capacity, tree planting as a conservation practice choice should be advocated and encouraged. South. J. Appl. InCentros Ltd and Erhvers-og Selskabsstyrelesen (hereinafter Centros),1 the European Court of Justice ruled that it is contrary to Article 52 (now Article 432) and Article 58 (now Article 48) of the EC Treaty for the authorities of a member State (in casu Denmark) to refuse to register a branch of a company formed under the law of another member State (in casu the United Kingdom) in which it has its registered office, even if the company concerned has never conducted any business in the latter State and intends to carry out its entire business in the State in which the branch is to be set up. By avoiding the need to form a company there it would thus evade the application of the rules governing the provision for and the paying-up of a minimum share capital in force in that State. According to the Court, this does not, however, prevent the authorities of the member State in which the branch is to be set up from adopting appropriate measures for preventing or penalising fraud, either with regard to the company itself, if need be in co-operation with the member State in which it was formed, or with regard to its members, where it has been determined that they are in fact attempting, by means of the formation of a company, to evade their obligations towards creditors established in the territory of the member State of the branch.
