The main purpose of this study is to help the English teachers easily to teach speaking in teaching English by describing picture. The activities are consists of reading, listening and talking. The researcher employed Research and Development method (RD) and adapted Borg and Galls’ model which consisted of five stages, namely 1) research and information collection, 2) planning, 3) develop preliminary form of product, 4) preliminary field of testing, and 5) main product revision. The researcher used three instruments to obtain the data such as interview, questionnaires and observation checklist. The obtained data will be classified based on the instrument used. The researcher shows the result by explaining them in quantitative and qualitative approach. The students needed supporting book in learning English that has attractive and colourful picture for students. The product is a describing picture book for elementary school entitled PICRIBE. The result of expert validation of the book is percentage of 4,0% and 4,5% is the result of expert validation ofthe materials. It means the bookis feasible as supporting media in learning speaking

As the skill that usually becomes the reference of students’ success in learning English, teaching speaking needs to be given closer attention, especially in teaching English to elementary school students. Therefore, a careful choice of good approach, technique or media is required. This article aims at finding out the advantages of using multimedia-based teaching materials in teaching speaking to elementary school students in Kabanjahe, North Sumatra. This is a descriptive study taking the fifth year elementary schools students at SD Swasta Masehi in Kabanjahe of Karo Regency as the participants. The data were collected using observations and interviews. The data were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study show that using multimedia-based materials benefits the speaking learning process in terms of increasing the students’ interest, reducing the students’ shyness, increasing students’ motivation, and promoting student-centered learning. It is concluded that using multimedia-based materials helps build elementary school students’ speaking ability.

Speaking is the skill prioritized in teaching English to elementary school students. However, English teachers frequently encounter problems in teaching speaking or in motivating them to speak English. Therefore, teachers have to find an appropriate technique or media that can solve such a problem. One of the techniques that can be used is using games, such as the hot potato game. This paper aims at describing the use and the advantages of hot potato game in teaching speaking to elementary school students. This study used a descriptive method taking the elementary school teacher and students in Regaji Village of Karo Regency, North Sumatra, as the participants. The data were the process of teaching and learning English using the hot potato game as the technique. The data were collected using observations and interviews and were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the analysis show that using the hot potato game in teaching speaking to elementary school students provides several advantages: (i) creating a fun learning atmosphere; (ii) improving the students’ motivation in learning English; (ii) generating students’ competitiveness in learning English; (iii) helping students to improve their vocabulary stock; and (iv) positively changing the students’ view of learning English. It is concluded that using the hot potato game is a good technique in teaching speaking English to elementary school students.

This study reveals the impact of technology on teaching and teaching English to elementary school students, and shows how technology can help the process teaching and learning. The aim of the study is to show the importance of technology and to present the main points of teaching with technology. To have a wider understanding about the topic a survey and the overall observation is conducted in three elementary schools. The data are collected by using qualitative and quantitative research methods, using questionnaires with 400 students and the observations in the classrooms. The study was completed using primary data which were the questionnaires and the secondary data which were books, journals, articles and different websites. This study provides important information about teaching English with technology and how to integrate technology in everyday teaching. It helps teachers and educators understand technology and improve teaching.
