Space observations of the propagation of smoke flares from the chimneys of industrial enterprises provide information on the physical characteristics of the emitted gas-air mixtures. Models for estimating the parameters of the rise of impurities under the influence of dynamic and thermal factors are proposed. The basic relations in the estimation models are the solutions of the equations of hydrothermodynamics of the atmosphere. The case of neutral atmospheric stratification is considered in detail. Using satellite information and meteorological observation data, a numerical study of the stage of ascent of smoke jets from the chimneys of the Gusinoozerskaya State District Power Plant was carried out.

Introduction. Coal heat power stations are characterized by severe hazardous eff ect of occupational environment on workers. Objective. To analyze chromosomal disorders in workers of thermal power plant working on coal from Kuznetsk coal fi eld (West Siberia). Materials and methods. Th e authors studied level and specter of chromosomal aberrations in blood lymphocytes of 185 workers of Kemerovo thermal power plant and 218 inhabitants of the same location, not working on industrial enterprises (Kemerovo, Russia). For every individual, average number of 200 metaphase plates of high quality was analyzed. Results. Findings are that the workers of thermal power plant have levels of chromosomal aberrations signifi cantly higher than those of reference group (3,01±0,13% vs. 1,45±0,08%; р<0,00001). With that, increased frequency is seen both for chromatid aberrations and for chromosomal ones — that indicates complex exposure to chemical and radiation factors. Conclusions. Th e results obtained necessitate elaboration of measures to decrease genotoxic hazards in the occupational environment.

A numerical study with FLUENT software has been carried out as to air performance in the slope solar energy power plant. The velocity field, temperature and pressure fields in the solar chimney, and the simulated result were compared with the simulated result of traditional solar chimney power generating equipment. The simulation results show that distribution of the temperature field and the velocity field in slope solar energy power plant and traditional solar chimney power generating equipment. In the case of the same height, the velocity of traditional is slightly larger than the slope style's, but there is little difference. In order to achieve the same power generation effect, the overall height of slope style is more than the traditional style, but the vertical chimney height of traditional style is greater than the slope style. The cost of construction of vertical chimney is expensive, and many problems have been considered, like radix saposhnikoviae and earthquake prevention, the heat collector also need to be cleaned on time. The slope style can take full advantage of land, the height of vertical chimney will be reduced, so the construction of the chimney will be relatively easy. Rainwater can clean the heat collector when it runs down from it. All things considered. The slope solar energy power plant has more development prospects.

The article presents the technique of an estimation of efficiency of use of potential heat output of an auxiliary boiler (AB) to improve electric capacity and manoeuvrability of a steam turbine unit of a power unit of a nuclear power plant (NPP) equipped with a water-cooled water-moderated power reactor (WWER). An analysis of the technical characteristics of the AB of Balakovo NPP (of Saratov oblast) was carried out and hydrocarbon deposits near the NPP were determined. It is shown that in WWER nuclear power plants in Russia, auxiliary boilers are mainly used only until the normal operation after start-up whereas auxiliary boiler equipment is maintained in cold standby mode and does not participate in the generation process at power plants. The results of research aimed to improve the systems of regulation and power management of power units; general principles of increasing the efficiency of production, transmission and distribution of electric energy, as well as the issues of attracting the potential of energy technology sources of industrial enterprises to provide load schedules have been analyzed. The possibility of using the power complex NPP and the AB as a single object of regulation is substantiated. The authors’ priority scheme-parametric developments on the possibility of using the thermal power of the auxiliary boilers to increase the power of the steam turbine of a nuclear power plant unit equipped with WWER reactors unit during peak periods, as well as the enthalpy balance method for calculating heat flows, were applied. The surface area of the additional heater of the regeneration “deaerator – high pressure heaters” system and its cost were calculated. On the basis of calculations, it was shown that the additional power that can be obtained in the steam turbine of the NPP with a capacity of 1200 MW due to the use of heat of the modernized auxiliary boiler in the additional heat exchanger is 40.5 MW. The additional costs for the implementation of the heat recovery scheme of the auxiliary boiler at different prices for gas fuel and the resulting system effect were estimated in an enlarged way. Calculations have shown the acceptability of the payback period of the proposed modernization.

Abstract. The Tibetan Plateau is a critical region in the research of biosphere-atmosphere interactions on both regional and global scales due to its relation to Asian summer monsoon and El Niño. The unique environment on the Plateau provides valuable information for the evaluation of the models' surface energy partitioning associated with the summer monsoon. In this study, we investigated the surface energy partitioning on this important area through comparative analysis of two biosphere models constrained by the in-situ observation data. Indeed, the characteristics of the Plateau provide a unique opportunity to clarify the structural deficiencies of biosphere models as well as new insight into the surface energy partitioning on the Plateau. Our analysis showed that the observed inconsistency between the two biosphere models was mainly related to: 1) the parameterization for soil evaporation; 2) the way to deal with roughness lengths of momentum and scalars; and 3) the parameterization of subgrid velocity scale for aerodynamic conductance. Our study demonstrates that one should carefully interpret the modeling results on the Plateau especially during the pre-monsoon period.

A numerical study is made of the thermal characteristics of semitransparent materials exposed to simultaneous conduction and radiation between concentric cylinders. For extremely high-temperature applications, where radiative transfer plays an important role, ceramic-matrix composites, considered as semitransparent materials, are being explored for potential use in turbine and compressor components, spacecraft structures, engine control systems and nuclear reactors. Through the use of a gray model and the two-flux method, specialized equations are developed that generate a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. To facilitate the solution of this system, an iterative strategy is adopted. In order to demonstrate the versatility and accuracy of the proposed methodology, the results of several numerical experiments are presented and compared with benchmark solutions.
