The progress of the curriculum redesign process promoted by the University of Atacama (UDA) is presented, through the Academic Vice Rectory and operationalized by the Center for Teaching Improvement. This process has been organized with a systematic approach defined to carry out curricular innovation with a competence-based approach, guided by its Educational Model (Universidad de Atacama, 2007). This understanding shows a significant first step materialized in the mechanism of achievement of the graduate profile of which we will explain the structure, the systemic approach and the possibility of implementation through participatory strategies. It is argued that from this proposal, a change in the logic of curricular implementations and evaluations is sought at a higher level, to incorporate into the task the inclusive view regarding historicity, of the contexts in which guidelines for a sustained change that aims for quality.

The aim of the article is to analyze theoretical and methodological provisions related to the definition of directions and principles of implementation of a systematic approach to the use of optical research methods, in particular micro-objects. Subject of research is substantiation and formulation of the classification characteristics of such systematic approach, considering the requirements of forensic techniques. Methodology: The study applies such methods of scientific knowledge as dialectical method, system and structural method, logic and legal method, methods of systematic analysis, logical method. Research results: The article studies the problematic issues of a systematic approach to the choice of scientific and technical methods and means for micro-object examination. Practical consequences: The authors argue that optical methods of the micro-object examination require classifying and systematizing to provide a holistic view of their potentials, as well as the nature of the information that can be obtained about the object being examined. Value / originality: The analysis of clarified classification characteristics and requirements for examination methods in forensic science enables to propose the algorithm of the systemic approach to the creation of the open system classification of methods of micro-object examination and to make justified conclusions.

The article presents graduate programs (Masters level) in the field of social pedagogy offered by Helena Radlińska and her colleagues at the University of Łódz after WWII. Socio-Pedagogical studies established at the Department of Social Pedagogy at the University of Łódz were supposed to prepare educational, social, and cultural workers in time of revival of Poland after 1945. The example of the educational model created at that time can serve as an inspiration in the development of contemporary programs of education rooted in the Polish socio-pedagogical tradition.

The article suggests a systematic approach to increasing the efficiency of studies of cryolitho-zone objects by geophysical methods, based on the formalization of the process of geophysical researches as a step-by-step process for setting the solution of the problem. The authors determine the model of the problem, the main functional and technological stages of setting and solving the problem. The system and adaptability (controllability) of the process are ensured by a system of interrelated criteria for the effectiveness of the functional stages (sub-stages) and the task as a whole.

A didactic plan is proposed for Territorial Tourism Resources, considered as a key subject for the university study of the geographical dimension of tourism. The study takes into account the reality in this regard in the Spanish university system, characterized by an obvious heterogeneity. A proposal for the desirable clarification is offered, from which the conceptual and methodological development of the subject is detailed, from an eminently pragmatic and applied perspective, for the sake of teaching improvement.

In recent years an attempt to formulate an "idea of the university" suited to the Canadian scene has been made by René Hurtubise, undoubtedly a key figure in Québec higher edu- cation. An examination of this attempt reveals, what I would consider, a positive tendency in Canadian higher educational research to be more theoretical and philosophical. However, at the same time, it also discloses, as does much of the literature in this field, a lack of self- evaluation, a quality important to the elaboration of a sound and viable educational model.

Abstract

This work aims to increase current knowledge in establishing and evaluating models for entrepreneur shaping by competence focusing, and offers readers the evaluation made to the “UADY” model whose objective was to verify if the program and its outco- mes are aligned with the university’s new educational model or “MEFI”, and whether or not it provides students with the competences required to start up companies. Results obtained in different outcomes of the entrepreneurial model were compared with ob-jectives established in the “MEFI” and with a survey done among students that incorporated competences recommended by internationally recognized authors added to the ones suggested by the model. Results showed that both the entrepreneurial program and its outcomes closely followed the “MEFI” guidelines and that students surveyed showed a significant increase in learning after participating in the program, either acquiring or perfecting entrepreneurial knowledge.

This paper reports on a project involving software selection in the context of a curriculum redesign of a university level Japanese language program. The project aimed to improve learning outcomes, increase flexibility in student access, and increase flexibility in approaches to teaching and learning, through the use of a variety of software packages and digital resources. In doing so, an imperative was to ensure the solutions adopted were manageable within the existing organisational arrangements of the Department and the University. The selection process has led to the development of three instruments which form the CICTO Framework for Software Selection.
