Growth in use of digital technology for leisure and learning has created challenges for healthcare environments globally. Its rapid evolution in nursing continues to outpace the more sporadic updating of registered nurse standards, guidelines and codes of professional conduct. Revised standards in Australia and the United Kingdom establish the contemporary governance context for the educational preparation of registered nurses. A document analysis of these standards reveals an omit of guidance regarding the expected knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviour of undergraduate nurses about when and how to access and use of digital technology on campus, and during work integrated learning. Documents governing nursing do not currently foster the development of digital professionalism, an essential component of professional identity formation, which is necessary to acquire prior to graduation as a registered nurse.

Abstract With the increasing growth rate of older persons and a rise in related illnesses in Ghana, it is vital that health practitioners are equipped with geriatric-oriented knowledge and expertise to provide the needed services to geriatric patients. The purpose of this study was to examine (i) the differences in the level of geriatric-focused educational preparation between graduating medical and nursing students in a Ghanaian public institution, and (ii) the association between educational preparation and students’ beliefs about providing care to geriatric patients. The study hypothesized that students with more positive beliefs will be linked to higher educational preparation. Descriptive and inferential statistics were conducted (n=136 students). Findings show significant differences in the educational preparation of medical and nursing students (t [134] = -3.790, p < .001). Graduating nursing students, comparatively, had higher educational preparation (M=23.14, SDe3.30) than medical students (M=21.14, SD=2.76). However, there was no significant association between students’ educational preparation and their beliefs about geriatric care. The findings underscore the need for extensive or more focused training. Further, the association between beliefs and educational preparation warrants further exploration. The need to examine the social cultural environment within which the research participants reside are discussed.

In the modern educational process aimed on preparing professionals in the applied areas, it’s crucial, along with purely professional training, to provide students both with solid theoretical background and help them to develop “soft skills” that will facilitate their smooth and efficient adaptation to the industry realities when they start their professional careers. In this paper we consider practical cases of acquiring soft skills through intensive field experience in two areas related to mathematical education.

The chair "Women, family and Guantanamo society" in the Guantánamo province as part of its functions intends the following investigation that addresses the theme of the prevention of violence against women from its management. This has the purpose of contributing to the educational preparation of agencies and social agents as an effective response to the demands of today's Cuban society. The study assumes the methodological-materialist and historical dialectical conception with the use of general research methods, with references, aspects of historical and theoretical-methodological evolution in the sociological, psychological, pedagogical and legal areas. The diagnostic results of the study made it possible to design as a methodological proposal a management strategy for the prevention of violence against women, which is strengthened from the integration of agencies and social agents, which places the University as the most important educational agency of the community.

This chapter focuses on the role of advanced practice providers (APPs) in the context of emergency telehealth by describing one of the first successful programs, started in 2003, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). Important issues germane to developing a program to provide telehealth supervision to APPs are covered. Specific concerns addressed by UMMC as the program was developed are described and generalized to the current health care environment. Major considerations regarding delivery models, contracts, technology, rationale for using APPs, regulatory concerns, and educational preparation are also discussed.

The purpose of this study is to explore and compare community (2-year) college librarians’ perceptions of their competencies, challenges, and educational preparation with those of librarians at 4-year colleges. Researchers created survey questions based on previous studies and distributed the survey through online mailing lists. The survey results indicated that community college instructional librarians’ responses were generally not statistically significantly different from 4-year university librarians in terms of what skills, traits, and educational needs were most prevalent. From the perspective of career challenges, community college instructional librarians cited marketing and changing perceptions/needs of content area faculty, while the librarians at 4-year universities cited burnout and class overload. These differences reveal the substantial challenge of preparing instructional librarians according to the types of libraries and instructional approaches.

The submitted study has a theoretical character, and it approaches the preparation for (active) aging and (active) old age from three perspectives - its forms, the process of its management, and the orientation of its contents. Several sources confirm that this preparation can have manifold forms, it can take place in many types of the environment in various subjects, and it can be related to all age groups. The submitted study exclusively focuses on the educational preparation for (active) aging and (active) old age. The author presents its contents according to the age of learners.
