All too often, engineering strategies aimed at improving road safety are reactions to existing problems that occur after a road has been designed and built. Targeting problem locations and developing plans to reduce collisions are vital and have proven to be very successful. Transportation professionals, however, should also take a proactive approach to address road safety before problems emerge. This paper describes an evolving need of how to deal with road safety in a proactive manner. Although a proactive approach should improve the overall safety performance, there is currently a poor understanding of how to proactively plan for road safety. Several logistical and technical obstacles hinder the effective planning for road safety. Each of these obstacles is presented in detail, followed by a description of the opportunity to overcome each obstacle. The paper also includes the results of a case study used to demonstrate the proposed process. A proactive approach to road safety complements traditional, reactive methods currently in use. Significant progress will be realized once safety professionals shift their focus from fixing existing problems to helping plan roads that attempt to be problem free. Route planning and development for operational forest harvesting is an important component of the forest management process. The need for an efficient and low-cost transportation network is significant, as it is likely to dictate or impact the profitability of a particular management plan. Approaches for automating or aiding the road planning process are essential. This paper discusses one interpretation of this planning problem and provides a formal mathematical specification of the problem. This research contributes to the further development of analytical methods for addressing operational forest planning and management.

AbstractIntroduction. Effective management of road indstry is particularly important in conditions of limited funding, as it is not possible to provide adequate funding of the economic entity that has the functions of a customer service. The cost of the customer service maintenance depends directly on the compliance with applicable regulations for these works cost determination. One of the aspects that form a considerable part of the costs of customer service is the maintenance of service vehicles.Problem Statement. Road services in the regions (hereinafter RSR) are the recipients and managers of the funds from the State Budget of Ukraine that are directed for the development and maintenance of public roads of state importance, being as well the asset holders of these roads. To perform their functions, the RSR have vehicles on their balance, the use of which involves a number of costs, including fuel and lubricants, repair, maintenance, replacement of tires, etc. The most important of the steps involved in setting the costs of vehicle maintenance is the process of cost planning. Planning has to be based on the structure of the vehicle fleet (own or leased), functional responsibilities and scope of road works.Planning is carried out for vehicles on the balance of the RSR, as well as for leased vehicles. In the case of leasing, the costs mentioned above are added by the vehicles leasing costs. These costs must be forecasted, justified and performed within the approved cost estimates of the customer service expenses.Purpose. The purpose of the article is to highlight the theoretical and methodological approaches to the calculation of planned costs for the maintenance of service vehicles of the road works customer.Materials and methods. Dialectical methods of knowledge, such as analysis and synthesis of fleet composition characteristics and approaches to cost planning methods, as well as induction, were used in writing the article to explore some aspects of the process of calculating the planned cost of maintenance of the road works customer's service vehicles.Results. The study highlights and describes the main approaches to the calculation of planned costs for the maintenance of service vehicles of the road works customer. The methodology of calculation of planned costs for the maintenance of service vehicles is explored.Conclusions. The introduction of a clear methodology and analytical toolkit for calculating all necessary expenditure items for the maintenance of the road works customer's vehicles in the cost planning process will establish the implementation of a clear mechanism for calculating the planned costs of maintenance of the road works customer's vehicles. It will also provide an automated information-analytical complex for planning of cost estimates, with information entry and reporting in standard forms and possibility of prompt response to changes in fleet composition, needs for spare parts, repairs or other expenses for the maintenance of service vehicles and making changes in cost estimates.Keywords: motor vehicles, costs, cost planning, customer service, maintenance of service vehicles

Damage to the dradah-kedungpring road is not only caused by the amount (volume) of the vehicle that exceed the capacity of the road, but in it is also related to various factors namely human factor and natural factor. Overload is a vehicle's axle load condition exceeding the standard load used on the pavement design assumption or the number of operational paths before the age of the plan is reached, or often referred to as premature deterioration.The method of rigid pavement road planning which is made by Depaterment of Public Works that is Bina Marga method cannot be applied in standard planning in the field implementation maximally so that it has weakness which resulted in the early damage on the highway before the achievement of plan age In this final project will produce the planning of rigid Pavement Thickness on Dradah – Kedungpring road Using Bina Marga Method 2002 ", the thickness is produced calculation with actual vehicle load for traffic data in the calculation Thick pavement has been using data from the results of traffic surveys that exist.In the research that has been done on the thickness rigid pavement dradah-Kedungpring road obtained thickness of 24 cm is expected to provide a good service life in accordance with the expected age of the plan. Keywords: Pavement, LHR, CBR, Vehicle Overloading Expenses.
