ABSTRACTConsideration of six balanced cross-sections through parts of the Finnmark Caledonides, N Norway indicates that shortening varies between 25% and 75%. A restored long cross-section across the width of the orogen, constructed with the aid of a branch line map, demonstrates a foreland propagating thrust system, with earlier formed more internal metamorphic nappes thrust SE 330 km under ductile conditions and then carried piggyback ESE a further 296 km on later brittle thrust sheets. Total shortening is 78·7% with a translation of the most internal thrust sheet of 626 km.The restored section suggests that: (1) the rate of propagation of deformation from hinterland to foreland is c. 2·27 cm y−1; (2) incorporation of basement into the nappes resulted from inversion of extensional faults formed during Iapetus rifting; (3) during rifting a Finnmark basement ridge separated a 220 km wide southeasterly Gaissa basin from the passive Iapetus continental margin which was at least 423 km wide; (4) the Finnmark Caledonides resulted from a continent-microcontinent collision which obducted continental crust at least 600 km across the Baltic margin; and (5) the Caledonian Baltoscandian margin prior to Iapetus suturing extended at least 400 km W of the Norwegian coast. On a Bullard reconstruction this overlaps with Laurentian rocks in Greenland. The excess continental crust is accounted for by shortening of the Baltoscandian margin during collision.

Abstract. Haneda NF, Furqan M, Suheri M. 2020. Stem borer insects on Hopea odorata in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 5308-5316. Hopea odorata Roxb. locally known as “merawan”, is a dipterocarp species that has the potentials to be developed for plantation forestry. Nonetheless, anecdotal evidence in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, suggested that the trees suffered serious attacks caused by stem borer insects, causing defoliation of the crown and leading to stunted growth and death. This phenomenon suggests a more systematic investigation. The objectives of this research were: (i) to identify the species of stem borer which attacked H. odorata; (ii) to investigate the types and forms of the damage of H. odorata tree due to stem borer attack; and (iii) to study the effects of stem borer attack on the tree and wood of H. odorata. The results showed that all species of stem borer insects belong to Coleoptera, namely as Xyleborus perforans (Scolytidae), Xyleborinus perexiguus (Scolytidae), Platypus parallelus (Platypodidae), Belionota prasina (Buprestidae), Curculionid beetle, and Tenebrionid beetle. The number of boring holes on a single tree was 1932 holes, of which 98.6% caused by ambrosia beetles: Xyleborus perforans (1426 holes, 73.8%), Xyleborinus perexiguus (457 holes, 23.7%), and Platypus parallelus (21 holes, 1.1%). The length of boring tunnel at cross-section ranged between 2-35 cm and at longitudinal section ranged between 4-6 cm. The number of boring holes decreased along with the increasing height of tree stem. The patterns of boring tunnel at stem cross-section were branching (X. perforans, P. parallelus); encircled (X. perforans), black stains along their wall (X. perexiguus, X. perforans, P. parallelus).

This study aims to describe the contribution and examine the effect of provincial minimum wages, investment and GRDP on labor absorption in Indonesia. The data used in this study uses panel data, namely a combination of time series and cross section, in this study using 34 provinces in Indonesia in 2013-2017. This study uses the Fixed Effect test. The results showed that the highest average contribution of labor absorption was in the province of East Java, investment was in the province of West Java, the provincial GDP and minimum wages were in the province of DKI Jakarta. Meanwhile, the estimation results show that the provincial minimum wage variable has a positive and significant effect on labor absorption, the investment variable has a negative and insignificant effect on labor absorption, while the GRDP variable has a positive and significant effect on labor absorption in Indonesia.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effect of government spending on social protection and security order sectors on crime using police data from 26 police stations in West Java during 2012-2016. The research method used is the fixed effect Pooled EGLS (Cross Section Weights). Also, to test the consistency of the main variables studied, this study features robust First Difference-Generalized Method Moment (FD-GMM) and System-Generalized Method Moment (SYS-GMM). The results showed that the combination of government spending in the security order and social protection sectors had a negative and significant effect on the total amount of crime. These results prove that the government's budget policy can create a positive contribution to reducing crime rates.

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence income inequality in the province of West Java. The data used is in the form of a cross-section of 28 districts or cities in the area of West Java and a time series for a period of 6 years, namely from 2015-2020. This study uses panel data regression analysis using a fixed-effect model and is processed with the help of Eviews 10. The results showed that the Human Development Index had a significant positive effect on income inequality. The population had an insignificant negative effect on income inequality. The open unemployment rate had a positive and minor impact on income inequality.

This research is conducted in Jatigede subdistrict, Sumedang district, West Java Province, Indonesia, with a geographic position 175500 - 185000E and 9237800 -9242200 S. There are many different types of rocks scattered forming the Cinambo Formation including sandstones, mudstones, alternation claystones, conglomeratic sandstones, and conglomerate stones. Stratigraphic cross-section measurements on the Cimanuk River and Cinambo River traverses is carried out to figure out the distribution of the architectural elements of the Cinambo Formation. Nine lithofacies are obtained from both traverses: massive conglomerate (A1-1), graded bedding conglomerate and graded bedding conglomeratic sandstone (A2-3), conglomeratic sandstone (A2-1), massive sandstone (B1-1), graded bedding sandstone (B2-4), bedded sandstone (B2-1), alternation sandstone – mudstone (sandstone domination) (C2-2), alternation dense and thin alternation sandstone – mudstone, and mudstone intercalation sandy siltstone. The architectural elements that appear on Cimanuk River traverse are sandy lobe, proximal channel, distributary channel and proximal levee, while the elements that appear on the Cinambo River traverse are sandy lobe, proximal levee and distal levee.  A vertical change of the architectural element can be observed on both traverses, which are likely to be caused by the fluctuation of sea level. Base on the architectural element data, it can be concluded that the Cinambo Formation was deposited in the upper fan-basin plain of a deep-marine fan system.
