Deli Serdang area surrounds the capital of North Sumatra Medan, there are industrial concentration of industrial concentration in Sunggal sub-district, Tanjung Morawa sub district, Percut Sei Tuan sub-district, on the other side of industry sector contribute greatly to society prosperity level of Deli Serdang which is 32,12%. The problem is how much influence the industrial sector has on the economic growth in Deli Serdang. The purpose of this study to determine the magnitude of the influence of industrial sector on economic growth Deli Serdang. The industrial sector has a value of LQ> 1 means the industrial sector is a leading sector for Deli Serdang. To know the magnitude of industrial sector influence on the economic growth, linear regression model is used. This study uses time series data from 1993-2015 taken from BPS North Sumatra. The result of analysis shows that 15% of economic growth variation can be explained by industry sector while 85% is explained by other independent variable which is not included in research model. The value of these negative constants shows that without the leading sector of the industry the economic growth in deli serdang decreases. The estimation result of Deli Serdang's economic growth function is influenced by the industry's leading sectors having a positive and significant influence with 95% confidence level.

In counterpoint to export growth, Bangladesh import growth has remained much less strong, despite impressive progress in import liberalization. This study gives an overview of different methodologies related to gravity model analysis in Bangladesh’s import flow. A pooled cross section and time series data were analyzed to incorporate the country specific heterogeneity in country pair trading partners. The import flows are justified by the basic gravity model since Bangladesh’s imports are positively significant by the economy size and inversely related to trade barrier. Accordingly, we have analyzed pooled ordinary least square, fixed effect, random effect. This study also explores extended gravity model using several variables in the light of gravity model panel data approach. Bangladesh’s import is determined by the home and foreign country’s gross domestic product and exchange rate. In addition, Cross section results show that regional trade arrangement which is South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation and border are significant for Bangladesh’s importimplies that Bangladesh should import more from intra regional country and also should import from India.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/dujs.v60i2.11485 Dhaka Univ. This study aims to analyze the effect of capital expenditure and economic growth simultaneously on the Human Development Index (HDI) in districts/cities in North Sumatra. This type of research is a descriptive-quantitative approach that suppresses its analysis of numerical data that is processed by the statistical method. Sources of data in this study were taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics of North Sumatra for the HDI data. The sample in this study is all districts/cities in North Sumatra for the period 2013-2017. The data analysis technique used in this study uses panel data regression with Eviews 7 because, in this study, there are characteristics of cross-section and time-series data simultaneously. The results of this study indicate that capital expenditure partially has a positive and significant effect on the Human Development Index in districts/cities in North Sumatra. Economic growth partially has a positive and significant effect on the HDI in districts/cities in North Sumatra, and capital expenditure and economic growth have a positive and significant effect simultaneously on the Human Development Index in districts/cities in North Sumatra.

The research aims to examine the role of Non-Performing Financing (NPF) on the profitability of financing in Sharia Banks with inflation as a moderation variable. The population of this research is Islamic Rural Banks in West Sumatra Indonesia, which was registered in the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in the 2015-2018 period. Samples of research were taken purposively as many as seven units of Islamic Rural Banks which were spread in West Sumatra Indonesia. The data analysis technique used is a regression method with panel data (pooled data) which is a combination of cross section and time series data using Software Eviews8. The results of the analysis showed that Non-Performing Financing (NPF) has a negative effect on profitability, which is proxied by ROA. Furthermore, this research proves that the inflation does not moderate or weaken the influence of the NPF on the profitability of Islamic Rural Banks. This research contributes in expanding the direct relationship between NPF and profitability which in previous research was not elaborated further.

Purpose of the study: This research aims to empirically prove the composition of local government expenditure (education, health, marine and fisheries, agriculture, and general allocation fund) on economic growth in 18 provinces in Indonesia from 2010 to 2015. Methodology: The model used in this research is panel data regression. The use of panel data in regression can provide more information that cannot be provided by cross-section or time-series data, and provides the best solution for inferring dynamic changes than cross-section data. Main Findings: The findings in this study are foreign investment has no influence on economic growth. Fiscal policies that are carried out are not effective in encouraging economic growth, and the use of the General Allocation Fund is not on target. Applications of this study: Foreign investment must be a trigger for the local economy and the national economy by means of foreign investment in Indonesia which is prioritized using raw materials and local labour, so that dependence on imported raw materials can be minimized. To overcome leakage of development budget must implement a budgeting system that is oriented towards organizational output and is very closely related to the organization's vision, mission, and strategic plan. The use of general allocation funds needs to be monitored by certain institutions and prioritizing public interest.

We explain the proliferation of panel data studies in terms of (i) data availability; (ii) the heightened capacity for modeling the complexity of human behavior than a single cross-section or time series data can possibly allow; and (iii) challenging methodology. Advantages and issues of panel data modeling are also discussed.
