Plankton has an important role for aquatic ecosystems, especially in the food network in a waters. This study aims to assess the abundance and diversity index of plankton in Sire Beach, North Lombok Regency. The study was conducted in September 2019 using purposive sampling with 9 sample points. The water sample was filtered using plankton net then put into the sample bottle for identification in the laboratory. Shannon-Wienner Index was used for determining diversity of plankton species. The types of plankton found were 12 genera of phytoplankton from the Bacillariophyta group, including: Biddulphia, Coscinodiscus, Cocconeis, Cylindrotheca, Diploneis, Fragilaria, Gyrosigma, Licmophora, Navicula, Nitzschia, Pleurosigma, and Triceratium. The highest abundance of phytoplankton belonged to Coscinodiscus species as many as 1.380 cells/l at station 2.3. The high abundance of Coscinodiscus might be due to a nutrient supply in these waters. Seagrass ecosystem was thought to have an important role in obtaining nutrients for phytoplankton. Diversity index has a value which ranges between 1.117505-1.841236 showing that it is in the medium category. The uniformity index ranges from 0.450718-0.673373 indicating that the distribution of plankton species in each station is even. The dominance index ranges from 0.233508-0.522215. This shows that there is no type of plankton that dominates the waters of Sire Beach. This is due to the abundance of plankton species at each station which is fairly evenly distributed.

Gastropods plays an important role in the food chain on seagrass ecosystem and its existence are depend on the physical-chemical factors in the seagrass ecosystem. This study aims to determine the density and diversity of gastropods associated in seagrass habitat in Nusi and Gersen coastal waters. The measurement results of some physical-chemical waters variables, are still quite good for the life of gastropods. Species composition of gastropod in Nusi at higher than at the Gersen, but instead of individual density in Gersen more higher than Nusi. Diversity index of gastropods at Nusi station is higher (3,757) than Gersen (3.053), on the contrary the eveness and dominance index are higher at Gersen station than Nusi station. Community similarity index by species is low between the two stations, which indicates that the species of gastropods at both stations is quite different. The influence of human activity and higher utilizatin of gastropods in Nusi has lowered the density of gastropods in seagrass habitat, so it needs awareness efforts on the importance of gastropods and the seagrass habitat for coastal ecosystem.

A study on inventory and diversity of phytoplankton in the floating-net-cages area of Lake Maninjau has been carried out from five different sites (Muko-muko, Koto Kaciak, Kubu Baru, Tanjung Sani, Sigiran). Sampling was conducted in the surface water and incubation zone (Secchi depth) from each site, start from November 2017 to January 2018. This study aims to identify phytoplankton species and diversity, also habitat quality due to floating-net-cages activities in Lake Maninjau. A standard method was followed in this study to identify phytoplankton species and calculated the biological index. Other factors recorded including the characteristic of aquatic habitat, temperature, TDS, TSS, and pH. From the observation, we found 17 species of phytoplankton consist of 4 Classes. Phytoplankton diversity index (H') ranged from 2.42 to 2.62 with the highest diversity index found in Muko-Muko and Sigiran (2.42 and 2.62) while the lowest in Koto Kaciak and Tanjung Sani (1.63 and 2.18). Phytoplankton Evenness index (E) ranged from 0.41 to 0.67 with the highest value found in surface water and incubation zone in Muko-Muko and Sigiran (0.64 and 0.67, respectively) while the lowest found in Koto Kaciak (0.41 and 0.60, respectively). Phytoplankton dominance index (D) ranged from 0.87 to 0.92 with the highest dominance index found in surface water and incubation zone in Sigiran, Muko-Muko, Koto Kaciak, and Kubu Baru (0.90) and Sigiran (0.92) while the lowest found in Tanjung Sani (0.89 and 0.87). From this study, we can conclude that feed residue from floating-net-cage activity causes impairment in water quality and can be detected from the physical-chemical factors of Lake Maninjau.
