Community service activities have been carried out for master students of Science Education at the University of Mataram which aimed to provide understanding to students about the development of science teaching materials that can develop students' metacognition. Teaching materials that are able to develop metacognitive abilities are needed by students in the current era of globalization. With the ability of metacognition, it will raise students' awareness of what they really know and one's cognition-regulation functions to regulate their cognitive activities effectively. Knowledge-cognition contains declarative, procedural, and conditional knowledge, while metacognition skills include four skills, namely problem solving skills, decision-making skills, critical thinking skills, and creative thinking skills. Activity participants can understand the material presented which was shown by the ability to answer questions during the discussion. An understanding of proper metacognition was also measured by its ability to fill out a questionnaire that was distributed after the service was complete. A good understanding of metacognition is expected to be a guide in developing metacognition-based teaching materials so that students can develop metacognition abilities.

The purpose of this research is to develop CERIA LKM-based physics teaching materials to improve critical thinking skills and creative student physics teacher candidate. This research is a development research that fulfill 3 (three) criteria, namely validity (valid), practicality (practical), and effectiveness (effective). Assessment of valuator on the validation stage of basic physics teaching materials based on MFI Ceria developed is 3.37 (good category) with reliability percentage 97.76% (categorized reliable). The results of this validation indicate that the basic physics materials based on Ceria MFIs developed are feasible to be used in the implementation stage. The implementation phase of teaching materials has involved physics education program students, where the results of the implementation of teaching materials developed categorized 'very good'. The next implementation is the evaluation of students' critical and creative thinking skills.

To assess the progressive teaching practicums included in an English Teaching Programme at a Chilean university, 60 former student-teachers answered a questionnaire with both Likert-scale and open-ended questions. The issues assessed included the relationship between the progressive teaching practicums and the curriculum’s modules and sequence, and the skills developed while implementing innovation projects during the student-teachers’ two final practicums. Quantitative and qualitative data analyses allowed us to identify both strengths and weaknesses. The participants highlighted strengths in the areas of teaching strategies, critical thinking skills and professional and pedagogical knowledge. Among the weaknesses, they identified limited supervision and feedback, and diverging views on teaching education between the university and the schools as the most difficult to deal with. These findings may be useful for introducing improvements in Initial Teacher Education aimed at reducing problems and discrepancies and devising suitable induction processes.

Abstract Critical and creative thinking skills are an essential attribute for success in the 21st century. This study aimed to determine the students’ critical and creative thinking skills in the Islamic senior high schools of Surakarta City so that teachers can pay attention to the strength and weakness of each student based on gender differences. This study used descriptive qualitative analysis. The subject of this study amounted to 180 students consisting of 80 male and 100 female students. The measurement of critical-thinking skills used a 6-essay-question instrument of the chemical material of electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions that measures the aspects based on Facione theory, namely: analysis, inference, explanation, interpretation, evaluation, and self-regulation. Then, to measure creative-thinking skills, a 4-essay-question test instrument of the chemical material that includes 4 aspects according to Torrance, fluency, flexibility, original and elaboration, was used. The results showed that the creative-thinking skills of male students are better than those of female students and the critical-thinking skills of female students are better than those of male students.

In 21st century learning, critical thinking skills are the main choice that must be mastered by students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of local wisdom-based science teaching materials in improving junior high school students’ critical thinking skills. Most science teachers still apply teacher-centered learning, so students tend to be passive. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The subjects of the research were grade VII students. Data collection techniques and instruments in the form of tests that include indicators of critical thinking skills. Data analysis used homogeneity test, Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test, independent sample t-test, and n-gain score. The results of the independent sample t-test are sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000<sig. α = 0.05. Students’ critical thinking skills in the experimental class were higher (N-gain score = 39.09%) than in the control class (N-gain score = 12.03%). Based on the study results, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the application of local wisdom-based teaching materials in improving the critical thinking skills of middle school students in the moderate category.

ABSTRACT[Capacity of student critical thinking through learning base on ecosystem study of water river]. South Bengkulu one of regencies in Bengkulu Province, located west in of the Bukit Barisan Mountains range which has a height of 600-1200 meters above sea level. South Bengkulu has a lot natural wealth that can be utilized as a medium of learning. This research aims to measure the ability of critical thinking and process skill student of class VII MTN 2 south Bengkulu by utilizing environment-based teaching materials. This research uses observation data collection techniques and test (pre test and post test ) Assessment of process skill conducted on two learning activities that is indoor and out door learning activities. Performance of process skill from student of class VII MTsN 2 South Bengkulu including into the category excellent and good while student critical thinking skills classically including into the critical categoryKeywords: student critical thinking skills; environment-based teaching materials’ pre test and post test.(Received November 19, 2018; Accepted April 15, 2019; Published June 18, 2019) ABSTRAKBengkulu Selatan adalah salah satu kabupaten di Provinsi Bengkulu terletak di sebelah barat pegunungan Bukit Barisan di mana ketinggian pegunungan tersebut rata-rata 600-1200 m diatas permukaan laut (dpl) yang mempunyai banyak kekayaan alam yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media pembelajaran. Abstract: The science learning process emphasizes providing direct experience to develop competencies in order to be able to explore and understand the nature around scientifically. students can gain direct experience, so they can add strength to accept and apply the concepts they have learned. Integrated science learning deals with the way students think and develop critical thinking skills. These skills include the ability to think critically, think creatively, and problem solving abilities. Modules are printed teaching materials that are designed to be independently studied by students, Module development is done to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Chemical bonding contains basic concepts that are used to understand almost any topic in chemistry. Several research results show that there are still many misconceptions. Therefore, teaching materials are needed that can provide a correct understanding of the basic concepts in chemical bonding materials. This study aims to produce inquiry model chemistry teaching materials with cognitive conflict strategies for Muallimat NW Pancor high school. The development method used definne, design, development and dissemination. Data analysis was conducted in the form of product validity tests and students' critical thinking skills tests. However, in this development research, it only stopped at the third stage. The data obtained were quantitative and qualitative. The results  is (1) the feasibility of the material was 84% (very feasible); (2) the systematic feasibility of the presentation is 85% (very feasible); (3) language feasibility is 85.33% (very feasible). So that overall the teaching materials produced are categorized as very feasible and can be used in chemistry learning.
