Spatial ability is one of the essential abilities to be mastered by students, especially in geometry. There is not much research, especially in Indonesian, that examines students' spatial abilities and their relation to Descriptive Geometry. This study aims to analyze students' misconceptions in the Descriptive Geometry course and describe the profile of students' spatial abilities in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study's subjects from the Mathematics Education Department of Universitas Negeri Jakarta. This research is descriptive qualitative. The learning was carried out in 16 meetings with three initial meetings offline, and the next 13 meetings online. The test was given twice at the 8th and 16th meetings accompanied by interviews with students who made mistakes in taking the test. The test results showed that students who made mistakes did not have the ability to spatial perception, spatial relation, and spatial orientation. However, there was a case of students who made mistakes still having the ability to spatial perception, spatial relation, and spatial orientation. The obstacles that affect students' spatial abilities are online learning that is not supported by technical matters, namely: limited internet networks and internet quota availability.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan spasial matematis siswa yang ditinjau berdasarkan perbedaan gender pada pelajaran matematika Pokok Bahasan Bangun Ruang Sisi Datar kelas VIII. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Praya. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 4 orang siswa dari 27 siswa kelas VIII dengan ketentuan 2 subjek bergender laki-laki dan 2 subjek bergender perempuan yang memiliki kemampuan spasial matematis tertinggi dari semua siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan spasial matematis dan wawancara. Teknis analisis data dilakukan dengan cara mereduksi data, menyajikan data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Pengecekan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kemampuan spasial visualization subjek laki-laki dan subjek perempuan memiliki kemampuan yang sama ditunjukkan dari kemampuan dalam menentukan komposisi suatu objek setelah dimanipulasi posisi dan bentuknya. Sedangkan dalam menyelesakan masalah yang terkait dengan spatial orientation dan spatial relation subjek laki-laki lebih dominan menggunakan kemampuan spasialnya dibandingkan subjek perempuan.Kata Kunci: Gender, Kemampuan Spasial Matematis ABSTRACTThis study aims to describe the students' mathematical spatial abilities based on gender differences in the VIII grade Mathematics subject. The population in this study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Praya. The subjects of this study were 4 students from 27 students of class VIII with the provisions of 2 male gender subjects and 2 female gender subjects who had the highest mathematical spatial ability of all students. The instruments used in this study were tests of mathematical spatial abilities and interviews. Technical data analysis is done by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data using triangulation techniques. The results showed that the spatial visualization ability of male subjects and female subjects had the same ability as indicated by the ability to determine the composition of an object after being manipulated in its position and shape. Meanwhile, in solving problems related to spatial orientation and spatial relations, male subjects are more dominant in using their spatial abilities than female subjects.KeywordsGender, Mathematical Spatial Ability

This action research aims to improve the learning outcomes of Number Theory in Mathematics Education students in the Even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year through STAD-type cooperative learning. The research was conducted at the Mathematics Education Study Program, MIPA Education Department, FKIP University of Lampung. Data were collected through tests and also activity observations to see their contribution to the learning outcomes. The test was carried out after three lessons were carried out at the end of each cycle. The final cycle test was conducted to see student learning outcomes after the implementation of STAD-type cooperative learning. Based on the test results, individual improvement points, awards are determined, as well as determine the increase in learning outcomes of participants in each cycle. The results of data analysis concluded that STAD-type cooperative learning can improve Number Theory learning outcomes in Mathematics Education students in the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. The increase in learning outcomes is greater than the increase in student activity in lectures.

This research was aimed to find out the EFL students’ difficulties and psychological impact of online learning during coronavirus (COVID-19 ) at IAIN Langsa. This research used a qualitative approach. Documentation and interview were used to collect the data in this research. The subject of this research was EFL students of the English education department at the sixth-semester students of IAIN Langsa. The result of this research showed that the students encountered several difficulties in learning online consisting of; Internet data, internet connection, difficulties in doing assignments, intrusion, lack of experience in using technology, comprehending the lesson of EFL and interaction between students and lecturer. On the other hand, the psychological impact of online learning encountered by the students such as; frustration and feeling sadness

This research was the qualitative research that aimed to improve students understanding of junior high mathematics study. In accordance with the object to be studied, then this research is done in 3 times open class consisting of the plan, do, and see for each cycle, with the subject of research was the students of mathematics education department of FKIP UNIPA whom contracting subjects junior mathematics studies. To improve students understanding of the material, implementation of peer tutor methods was continuously modified based on the findings of each cycle. Based on the results of the implementation of Lesson Study as much as 3 cycles obtained the concluded that the learning outcomes of learners used peer tutor approach that modified each cycle has a significant increase. This was evident from students who answered the test correctly given at the end of each meeting. In the first cycle, from 27 students only 4 who can answer the test correctly that is equal to 14.81%, the second cycle, from 27 learners only 10 which was able to answer the test correctly that was equal to 37,04%, whereas in cycle III, from 26 students 21 students able to answer correctly that was equal to 80,77%

This article is dedicated to discussing the implementation of the descriptive geometry, i.e. the scientific novelty from the end of the 18th century, in secondary school education on the Polish territories in the 19th century. At that time, Polish lands were under the occupation of three empires: Prussia, Austria, and Russia. Over the time, the policy of the partition empires toward the Poles was changing in intensity. As a consequence, in the 19th century, there were schools on the Polish territories with Polish, Prussian, Austrian and Russian curricula and relevant lecture languages. The article analyses the implementation of descriptive geometry into teaching mathematics in schools located in all three partitions. During the 1973-74 school year. two sixth-grade classes in New York conducted classroom tri als of hand-held calculators. Each child in these classes had a Bowmar “Brain” hand-held calculator for his usc during mathematics lessons each day. The project was organized by the Bureau of Mathematics Education, New York State Education Department. The calculators were provided free of charge by Bowmar/ALl, Inc., and supervision was provided by the principals of the project schools.

Ever since the results of the International Achievement Tests in Mathematics were announced, much interest has been expressed in the outstanding performance made by the Japanese students.1 The test results displayed an accomplishment that at age thirteen, and overall, was far su perior to the other countries involved. Many analyses have been made of the subject matter involved in the questions, of the type of questions, of the teachers of the students, and of the curricula of each of the countries, to either sustain or disprove popularly expressed superiority of Japanese mathematics education. This article merely reviews the existing structure of Japanese education and points to some unique features of Japanese culture that may offer a partial explanation. It is not intended in any sense to suggest that the Japanese program or its culture— which is evidently satisfying to their own people—is one that would be satisfactory for others. It is merely one of many cultures which we should corne to under stand as the world grows closer knit in its forward progress.
