The method adopted for pricing in an Initial Public Offering is a key issue in the studies on business valuation. In particular, various researches sought to verify which valuation methodologies are preferable in the context of an initial public offering. The review of the main literature shows that Discounted Cash Flow, Market Multiples, Dividend Discount Model and, even if just to some degree, Economic Value Added are the most popular methodologies in the valuation practice. The comparison among different valuation methods, proposed in the literature and variously applied in national and international practices, reveals the necessity to pay more attention to valuation mechanisms that drive the pricing of the shares to be listed. The topic is linked to the ever more pertinent debate on the use of different methods in professional practice: financial experts and analysts tend, in fact, to compare results according to different estimates.

The underpricing phenomenon often occurs when a company conducts an initial public offering or commonly known as IPO (Initial Public Offering). This condition causes stakeholders receive not enough information for assessing the company value. This study aims to analyze the effect of intellectual capital disclosure, economic value added, and inclusion of warrants on the level of underpricing of shares. This research was conducted in all companies that conducted IPOs on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the period 2012-2014. The number of samples taken was 60 companies, with a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The results of testing the partial test hypotheses found that intellectual capital disclosure variables negatively affect the level of underpricing, while the variables of warrants participation have a positive effect on the level of underpricing. The economic value added variable does not affect the level of underpricing. Keywords : Initial Public Offering (IPO), Underpricing, Economic value added, Warrant.

This paper addresses the association between earnings management and economic value added (EVA) among nations of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), European Union (EU), and those classified as a newly industrialized country (NIC). Furthermore, an analysis of the earnings management behaviour is presented based on data from 2009 to 2013. The results indicated that a significantly inverse relationship exists between earnings management through either discretionary accruals (DAs) or real earnings management (REM) activities and EVA in NAFTA and EU nations. Moreover, a significantly positive relationship exists between earnings management through either DAs or REM and EVA in ASEAN and NIC nations. In addition, REM activities exhibit greater explanatory power among these nations.
