Coastal abrasion has caused the destruction of the mangrove forest in Mojo Pemalang Village. Thus, a preliminary study of communities’ literacy about conservation at Mojo Village, Pemalang, was required to develop the potential of mangrove forest ecotourism. This study aimed to understand the fishermen’s literacy about conservation at Mojo Village, Pemalang related with the development of mangrove forest ecotourism through the Community Learning Center (CLC). The type of research was qualitative descriptive. The research subjects were fishermen in Mojo Village, Pemalang, Central Java, Indonesia. The results of a preliminary study of six indicators of environmental literacy and conservation developed by the North American Association for Environmental Education (2011) and Rush et al. (1999) are as follows: ecological knowledge = 6.02%, verbal commitment = 6.02%, environmental sensitivity = 6.02%, identification = 12.04%, issue analysis = 6.02%, and real commitment = 6.02%. The overall percentage was 42.14% and was included in the low category. The results of the preliminary study indicated that Mojo fishing communities’ literacy about conservation of the environment towards mangrove forests still needed to be improved. A solution suggested based o the results of a preliminary study was the implementation of mangrove ecotourism Community Learning Center (CLC), conducted through several pieces of training, including conservation training, education training, tourism training, and economic training.

AbstractThe study is to provide an alternative science learning model of an elementary school that can invite students to improve science literacy. As observations and questionnaires of researchers in a preliminary study at two elementary schools in the city of Cirebon, West Java, it was found that based on the average results of the initial analysis of scientific literacy tests of students from the two schools, an average of 85.7% showed negative results with the ability to answer the practice of science questions in the form of literacy, which means that students have not been able to answer literacy questions test. The research method uses model development the ASSURE development model starting with Student analysis; setting goals; choose a method, media / material, use media & material; activating student involvement as well as evaluations & revisions developed by Sharon Smaldino. As for the preliminary study conducted by analyzing 5th-grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) PGM and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI)  An-Nur Cirebon as samples and also observing teachers from the two schools, so this research produces a SIBELPOLEN model for science learning, which consists of teaching syntax, teacher roles, support system, accompaniment impact, instructional impact and designing lesson plans that can improve Science literacy competence of elementary school students. A, M. This study presents a review of literature on the development of global warming e-book oriented to environmental literacy which can be used in science learning in junior high school. Education has a very important role to involve the common people in an effort to reduce global warming. One solution that can be done so that students get information about global warming is by learning media. E-books can be one of the media used in good learning for students. The purpose of this study was to develop and find out the effectiveness of the use of global warming e-book oriented to environmental literacy. This research method is research and development (Research and Development) with ADDIE design (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The results show global warming e-book has gone well and provides a role in increasing students environmental literacy at the value of effectiveness obtained at 48.87 (medium category).

Environmental awareness is an issue that continues to evolve with the development of science and technology. Various problems that arise include attitudes to protect the environment, to choose a healthy lifestyle, to utilize natural resources, to deal with natural disasters, and to concern about the rising global temperatures. The government carries out the Adiwiyata school program with the aim to instill values of environmental awareness for students. This leads to the importance of building environmental literacy to direct in building the environmentally-aware attitude that supports the preparation to become Adiwiyata schools. Learning based on sustainability (pedagogy for sustainability) has the potential to be integrated in science learning, considering that natural science subjects examine natural phenomena and the symptoms physically, chemically, and biologically as well as the relation to technology, environment, and society. Attitudes and actions towards environmental literacy can be inculcated through the development of learning processes containing pedagogy for sustainability that emphasizes activities to seek, explore, discuss, and investigate information and also to plan actions that are beneficial to the environment and do not carry any negative impacts on future generations.

Abstract: Science learning in senior high school was designed with the goal of achieving the competencies of graduates that includes aspects of attitudes, skills, and knowledge competency. Skill aspect refers to the Scientific Approach. Skills such as observing the process are observing, trying, processing, serving, and reasoning. All of these skills, leading to the aspects that exist within SPS. Learning needs analysis conducted by researchers at the SMA/ MA class XI IPA that is in the Purbolinggo district of East Lampung SPS shows a lack of provision in the learning process. Supposedly, learning based  on SPS is further enhanced, the researchers created a learning guide model based on SPS. The objectives of the reasearch: 1) produce a learning guide model based on SPS class XI, 2) improve outcomes (process) and output (learning cutcomes) biology learning class XI. Type of the research is Research and Development (R&D). The research was conducted in SMA N 1 Purbolinggo in class XI Science. Procedures R&D is adapted from Borg and Gall consisting of five steps: 1) literature review and the results of relevant research, 2) Design and carry out preliminary study, 3) the development/conceptualization models, 4) test the model through experimentation, 5) revision of the model. conclusion; 1) learning guide SPS models has been validated by the user and learning experts, instrument validation, model validation, and it is suitable.
