Teaching English is very challenging nowadays. Senior high school students urgently are needed to be communicative in using English well. They need to be able to develop their English skills well. Dealing with mastering English skills, vocabulary is one of the crucial language components in learning English. In fact, most of the students faced difficulty in acquiring and mastering English vocabulary to support and develop their English skills. English teachers need to apply the appropriate strategy and activity to improve students’ vocabulary. This research aimed to know the process of improving students’ vocabulary mastery by using translation activity for Senior High school students at SMAN 3 Bojonegoro. This research used classroom action research. The subject of this research was students of Social Program at 11 B. In collecting the data, the writers used test items and observation sheets. The test was given pre-test, test 1 and test 2. Then the writers analyzed the mean score of each test to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery after the action was done. The result shows that there is an improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery. It could be seen from the score of the pretest is 42, posttest 1 is 47,8 and posttest 2 is 61. After conducting action research, it shows that students made good improvements in learning vocabulary. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that using translation activity can improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

This study aims at developing students’ pronunciation skills by using English movies as a teaching media and investigating the students’ perception of the use English movie in learning pronunciation. To attain the objectives, a two-cycled action research was conducted to 35 tenth graders at SMA Angkasa 2, East Jakarta in March to May 2017. Data were collected using test, some observation sheets, and a questionnaire. The results revealed that the movies developed the students’ pronunciation skills. Their poor pronunciation (indicated by the pretest mean score of 48,11) developed after participating in Cycle I (mean score, 62.5) and developed higher after Cycle II (mean score, 76.08). Along with the increase of frequency of watching the movies and the researcher’s improvement in facilitating the actions as well, the students’ enthusiasm and involvement in the actions keep on increasing. It was concluded that using use movies as teaching media is effective to develop students' pronunciation skills. EFL teachers are, therefore, recommended to use movies as an alternative media to develop students' pronunciation skills. Further studies are recommended to carry out experimental studies to see the degree of effectiveness of using movies in pronunciation teaching to senior high school students.

The study deals with the developing interactive media for senior high school students. The objective of this study is to find out how to develop interactive media for better speaking skill of senior high school students. The research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D). The subject of this research was 2016/2017 students of the eleventh grade of Class XI IPA4 in SMAN 1 Batang Kuis. The number of the students was 30 students. The data of this study was collected by using need analysis questionnaire and experts’ judgment. Need analysis questionnaire was calculated by using percentage to get the information of students’ need before developing interactive media. Experts’ judgment was calculated by using likert data, mean and criteria interval of expert judgment to know the validity of interactive media which has been developed. After the data analyzed, it was found that the experts’ judgment result was 4.80 which had a very good criteria interval. The result of the research find that interactive media is a very good to be used in teaching speaking skill.
