The primary thing to be learned in mastery a language is word. Word is dealing with morphology, because morphology influences spelling, reading comprehension, and vocabulary. In the way of understanding the meaning of vocabulary, language users need to learned morphology, especially derivational and inflectional morphemes. This study was designed to identify the derivational and inflectional morphemes and the functions of each derivational and inflectional morphemes are used on Maher Zain’s “forgive me” album. The result of this study are; (1) There were 13 derivational morphemes and 76 inflectional morphemes, and (2) The functions of every morphemes used on Maher Zain’s “forgive me” album, consist of function as adjective, plural, verb, noun, and adverb.

In this essay, I argue that teaching reading comprehension can be based on the read oneself reading’s view, which consists of reading a text at the same time that we read ourselves. In other words, we need to be aware, at all times, of the way we read texts and make meaning by taking responsibility for our own interpretations because both the writer and the reader are text producers. First, I begin by giving an example of how traditional ideals of reading do not include the plurality of ideas. I then explain how teaching through critical literacy can be used to reflect upon the identities of students, teachers and school community members in a classroom of English for speakers of other languages. I conclude by reaffirming the consequences of homogenizing readings and interpretations in addition to reflecting upon possible formative paths to the post-truth times we live in.

Morphology is the study of word and sub-discipline of linguistics that study of word, structure and form which has component such as morpheme, base, prefix and suffix. This process can reduce ambiguity during the process of correcting the words in sentences. This study investigated about the classification of derivational and inflectional morphemes in the song lyrics of Ariana Grande’s album Thank U, Next. This study used qualitative method. Process of collecting data used to identify lyric that has derivational and inflectional morpheme. The result of this research is to indicate that the words recorded in song lyrics can be further analyzed about the process of forming words by words and the meaning of the word in it have different meaning from the literal meaning.

This research focused on the morphological structure in Jason Mraz’s songs. This study used the theory of the Rochelle hypothesis (2009) and examined the morphemes found in Jason Mraz’s songs and their morphological structure. The songs were obtained directly from Google. This research applied a qualitative method. The data were analyzed by reading the lyrics of the Jason Mraz’s songs, underlining word by word, identifying the words by classing them into morphemes, and calculating the morphemes of each word to find out the frequency of the morphological structure. Jason Mraz’s songs used free morphemes (87.8%) dominantly in the songs, and also used bound morphemes, namely inflectional morphemes (8.5%) and derivational morphemes (3.7%). <p>Affixation is one of the process of morphological in Mandarin. Affixes are bound morphemes that are added to other morphemes to form larger units such as words, especially to form a compound word (成词 héchéng cí). Mandarin has two types of affixes: prefixes (precedes the morpheme) and suffixes (follows the morpheme). Prefixes are rare in Mandarin, such as {初chū-}, {第dì-}, {非fēi-}, {可kĕ-}, etc;while suffixes are more numerous, such as {儿-er}, {化 –huā}, {家 –jiā}, {们 –men}, {员 –yuán}, {者 –zhĕ}, {子-zi}, etc. In Mandarin, affix morphemes can also be divided into two functional categories, namely inflectional morphemes and derivational morphemes, both refers two principal word formation processes: inflection and derivation. Although, Mandarin is not the inflection language, only prefix {初chū-} and suffix {们–men} are inflectional morphemes. Therefore, the derivation process is more productive in Mandarin. Derivational morphemes form new words by changing the meaning of the base (root) and the word class. In consequence, derivation in Mandarin may cause a change of word classes; such as nouns, verbs, and adjective, but generally form nouns.</p>

Less well recognized is the way that the deployment of pronouns in pop song lyrics can create sudden shifts in the various currents of musical meaning. Although songs often commit to a single point of view, it is quite common for songs to feature complex shifts in discourse, sometimes aligned with important changes in the music. This paper addresses an especially important pattern, a shift from distance to intimacy.

This study highlights the analysis of Pakistani students for Derivational and Inflectional Morphemes at intermediate level. Derivational and Inflectional Morphemes are the elements which explores the field of morphology for daily language users. Morphology is the study of “morphemes”. Morphemes are the smallest units of language that have described into two categories as free and bound morphemes. The main issue that exists in this study is to analyze the derivational and inflectional morphemes used by Pakistani students. Through the perceptions and understanding of inflectional and derivational morphemes, this study can produce the vocabulary in which one word have multiple meanings. This research paper is associated with linguistics and field of socio linguistics. This paper is purely based on qualitative research approach. In this study, the researcher founds the prominent dimensions caused by the inflectional and derivational morphemes, when attached with other morphemes. If the derivational morpheme is attached with free morpheme, it will convey different meaning and a chance have that it will change even word class. While inflectional morpheme will play a grammatical role when will be attached with free morpheme.

The study concerned with discussing about slang words used in Bruno Mars song lyrics. The research design of this study is descriptive qualitative method. In this study, the theory of word-formation process by George Yule process (1986) in his book “the study of language” is used to analyze the formation process of each slang word. The researcher only analyzes five in Bruno Mars song lyrics. They are count on me, show me, the lazy song, liquor store blues and just the way you are. There are consists of two research problem : (1) what is the type of slang word used by Bruno Mars in lyrics, (2) what is the dominant slang word found in Bruno Mars song lyrics. The data were document analysis, the research tried to find and identity the slang word in lyric by marking, finding and analyzing the slang word. The result shows that from 58 data taken, not all process of slang-word formation appear in the lyrics. Five process of slang-word formation found in the lyrics. The process of slang word formation that are used in the lyrics are clipping(160%), blending(120%), coinage(80%), borrowing(0%), and acronym(60%).

This paper aims to discuss the way in which song translation can be used as an effective way of language/translation teaching, focussing in particular on German as a Foreign Language in higher education at the university level. Starting from some considerations about the distinctive features of song lyrics and their use as a didactic tool in foreign language, culture and literature classes, a reflection is proposed on a way to introduce pop songs also in language/translation classes in relation to a variety of possible translation skopoi.

This study was intended to describe  the category of inflectional and derivational morphemes found in  Reading Texts of 2013 Curriculum English Textbook for the X Grade of Senior High Schools Published by Ministry of Education and Culture. Morpheme is used to refer to the smallest unit that has meaning or serves a grammatical function in a language. The morphemes which can meaningfully stand alone are called free morphemes while the morphemes such as –er and –s, which cannot meaningfully stand alone are called bound morphemes. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative. The results of this study show that Derivational prefixes consist of  inter-, eco-, un-, ar-, pre-, re-, pro-, be-, de-, in-, dis-, a-, ex-, auto-, mis-, agri-, em-, ap-, im- and al-. While,  Derivational suffixes consist of four categories. Thus are nominal, verbal, adjectival, and adverbial suffixes.  First, nominal suffixes, namely  –ism, -ation, -al, -ing, -ist, -or, -ity, -er, -ance, -ment, -ion, -ess, -ium, -ature, -ry, -ant, -ce, -ive, -cy, -y, -r, -ge, and -ness. Second, Verbal suffixes, namely –n and –ize. Third, Adjectival suffixes,  namely  –al, -ly, -ous, -ing, -able, -ic, -ish, -ive, -ian, -ny, -less, -ed, -ary, -nese, -y, and –ful and the last is adverbial suffix  –ly. Otherwise, the categories of inflectional morphemes that found in texts consist of  Noun suffixes (plural) such as;  –s, -ies, and –es, Noun suffixes (possessive) e.g;  –s’ and -’s, Verb suffixes (3rd person singular) are –s and –es, Verb suffixes (past tense) are –ed and –d, Verb suffixes (past participle) such as; –n, -d, and -ed, Adjective suffixes (comparative) are  –er, - r, and –ier and  Adjective suffixes (superlative) are –st and –est. Therefore, based on the result of finding verb suffixes are not found.

The way reading literacy is conceptualised has changed over the last decades. Regarding comprehension as deep processing, in which skimming or scanning neither encourage the reader to engage in texts nor lead to the expected levels of understanding has influenced the way reading literacy is taught and assessed. The aim of the article is to analyse new task types introduced to the external exams as well as to provide evidence that the changes in the exam format reflect the way reading comprehension skills have recently been conceptualised. The analysis of the exam tasks is preceded by an overview of the recent trends in conceptualising L2 reading literacy.
