The study aimed to understand factors influencing customers' online shopping intentions. This study used the technology acceptance model (TAM) and extended it, including social value and perceived enjoyment, to measure customers' intentions in the online shopping context. Three hundred one validated data was collected using personal interviews and the online survey approach through convenience sampling technique from 20 to 60 years old. Subsequently, data were analyzed through PLS-SEM. The measurement model was first examined to determine whether the constructs predict online shopping intentions. After validating the measurement model, the subsequent structural model was analyzed using Smart PLS 3.3.3. The study results revealed that perceived usefulness, attitude, social value, and perceived enjoyment are significant positive predictors of online shopping intentions. However, perceived ease of use insignificantly impacted online shopping intentions. Moreover, this study results showed that perceived enjoyment partially mediates the relationship between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social value, and online shopping intentions. In contrast, the influence of attitude on intentions is insignificantly mediated by perceived enjoyment. This study will provide online e-retailers with insights into how practitioners can influence customers to shop online. Customer behaviour is the result of customers' intentions, built through perceived usefulness, ease of use, attitude, social value, and enjoyment.

Virtual reality presents exciting new opportunities for e-commerce with regard to the development of innovative shopping services. This article reports on an experimental investigation into the coordinated use of two human-computer interfaces (HCIs) for online shopping: virtual reality (VR) and webpages. We adopted the uses and gratification theory and technology acceptance model to determine how these HCIs affect online shopping intentions. Data from 98 participants revealed that entertainment value, informativeness, perceived ease-of-use, and perceived usefulness are the primary factors influencing the intention to use the VR HCI for online shopping (p < 0.05). Informativeness, perceived ease-of-use, and perceived usefulness are the main factors influencing the intention to use the webpage HCI for online shopping (p < 0.05). This study provides insights for businesses how to develop innovative shopping services using VR.

Although technology trends and acceptance have been considered crucial topics, limited research has examined stress-specific factors such as health anxiety in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic based on people’s attitudes toward a mobile health app using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Accordingly, this study primarily highlights the psychological determinants stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic that affect the usage of a mobile health app. The study followed a cross-sectional design and adopted a snowball sampling technique to collect the data. The findings showed a significant association between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and event-related fear and Tabaud App intention. The relationships between Tabaud App intention and COVID-19 anxiety on Tabaud App usage were also revealed. The study found a significant association between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Additionally, the multi-group analysis showed that only two paths related to Tabaud App intention, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, differed significantly between males and females. Additionally, women experienced anxiety disorders more than men. The study contributes to the previous knowledge on the field by examining the psychological determinants resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic that influence using a mobile health app, namely, event-related fear and COVID-19 anxiety. The study results may help governments, health policymakers, and health organisations in Saudi Arabia contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Short Messaging Service (SMS) being an almost instantaneous communication medium that connects people is now a phenomenon that has grown and spread around the globe at an amazing speed. Given the current trend of SMS usage and its potential growth, this paper provides an insight into SMS adoption. The study attempts to delineate the demographics and usage profile of SMS users in Malaysia, as well as explaining the factors influencing SMS adoption in Malaysia by using a modified version of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which was originally introduced by Davis (1989). The study presents the demographic and usage profile in terms of gender, age, occupation, monthly personal income, extent of SMS usage and so forth of 489 SMS users from four institutions of education in the Klang Valley and Selangor. The present research uses and validates the scales for variables developed by earlier studies, namely perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, and perceived fees, which are hypothesized to be fundamental determinants of behavioural intention. The scale items for the said variables were tested for reliability, correlation and regression. The application of correlation analysis reveals a significant relationship among the independent variables, namely, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and perceived ease of use with the dependent variable that is behavioural intention. With regards to the level of importance derived from regression analysis, usefulness ranks the highest, followed by ease of use and enjoyment in explaining SMS adoption in Malaysia. Perceived fees do not seem to have a significant relationship with behavioural intention. Some implications, limitations and recommendations for future research are also discussed.

mHealth is one of China’s national strategies that brings affordable, accessible, and convenient health care to its entire population, may they be in cities or rural areas. Although Chinese young adults are among the first to adopt mHealth, the factors influencing Chinese young adults to use mHealth are yet to be studied both empirically and in depth. This study explores the mechanism that determines Chinese young adults’ intention to use mHealth, based on an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The extended TAM was tested using responses from 486 Chinese young adults. The results showed that perceived usefulness strongly and significantly influenced people’s intention to use mHealth. Additionally, communication effectiveness, health consciousness, and perceived ease of use were found as significant factors influencing people’s intention to use mHealth through perceived usefulness. Distrust was not found to significantly influence people’s intention to use mHealth.

This empirical study aims to examine the factors that Online Shopping Users exhibit which can be used to help the online shopping platforms further work on their online presence in order to make sure that all potential users stay on their platforms and most of all, are content using their platforms. Personality, Web Experiences, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Attitude were used to determine how these factors affect Online Shoppers. A survey (Google Forms) was distributed via social media and social messengers which comprised of virtually infinite respondents. The results showed that most of our respondents are not akin to finding the perceived usability or perceived ease of use of online shopping irrespective they have a certain online leadership style, or are impulsive buyers, and are also not deterred even if they are satisfied with a website or are security conscious. But if they end up finding an online system useful and user-friendly, they will definitely intend to come back to the online portal again for future purchases. This research was conducted inside Pakistan comprising respondents distributed in different cities due to the questionnaire being circulated via online mediums. Future researchers can employ the same model to conduct the same research in another country. This study proposes a framework to quantitatively analyzing the link between different aspects of Personality and different aspects of Web Experiences with Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use, and furthermore the Attitude of the respondents towards Online Shopping Platforms.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of trust and perceived enjoyment in the technology acceptance model by distinguishing distinct stages of adoption among street vendors (initial and advanced adoption stage). Design/methodology/approach Face-to-face interviews using a structured questionnaire were conducted with 430 street vendors in Bangkok; 415 usable surveys were analyzed. By applying K-means cluster analysis, two segments were found with 200 initial and 215 advanced adopters. A multi-group analysis was employed to investigate differences of relationships between the two groups. Findings The findings reveal significant similarities and dissimilarities between the two groups of vendors. Both initial and advanced adopters emphasize trust of service providers. The first group relies more on perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment in motivating m-commerce adoption but depends less on perceived usefulness. On the contrary, for the latter group, the influence of perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment significantly decreases, but the effect of perceived usefulness significantly increases. Practical implications This study sheds light on the managerial implications related to how service providers can tailor their marketing strategies to target vendors in disparate diffusion stages, and it encourages building trust between partners over time. Originality/value Due to the lack of theoretical and managerial understanding of factors that drive m-commerce adoption for micro businesses, this study identifies distinct adoption stages and offers valuable insights into the similarities and differences among initial and advanced adopters.
