This paper uses network analysis to study the geo-localization decisions of new organic dairy farm operations in the USA between 2002 and 2015. Given a dataset of organic dairy certifications we simulated spatio-temporal networks based on the location of existing and new organic dairy farming operations. The simulations were performed with different probabilities of connecting with existing or incoming organic farmer operations, to overcome the lack of data describing actual connections between farmers. Calculated network statistics on the simulated networks included the average degree, average shortest path, closeness (centrality), clustering coefficients, and the relative size of the largest cluster, to demonstrate how the networks evolved over time. The findings revealed that new organic dairy operations cluster around existing ones, reflecting the role of networks in the conversion into organic production. The contributions of this paper are twofold. First, we contribute to the literature on clustering, information sharing, and market development in the agri-food industry by analyzing the potential implications of social networking in the development of a relatively new agriculture market. Second, we add to the literature on empirical social networks by using a new dataset with information on actors not previously studied analytically.

Environmental issues are extremely relevant today at the national and international levels. The EU has become the basic platform for the unified environmental strategy formation and the development of the European principles, as well as national systems of environmental legislation. The purpose of the article is to determine the peculiarities of the European market of environmental goods and services formation and development, disclose the regulatory framework for organic production in the EU, and outline strategic directions for the Ukrainian environmental market development. The article considers the peculiarities of the European market of environmental goods and services formation and development. The instruments of normative-legal regulation of the EU environmental market are defined, among which the Directive of the Council of the EU № 834/2007 and the Directive of the EU Commission № 889/2008 are singled out. Given the global environmental situation, the EU governments pay close attention to product safety and environmental friendliness. Therefore, in recent decades, it is especially important to improve the regulatory framework to control the friendliness of the environmental product. The structure of certified agricultural lands in the EU is analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the study of the development peculiarities of the EU market for organic products, namely the constant growth of demand for these products and growing prices. The current state of the environmental market of Germany and France is characterized. The main tendencies of the Ukrainian environmental market formation and development are determined. The analysis of the domestic market of organic products is carried out. Strategic directions of the Ukrainian environmental market development are defined, including the increase of the certified organic land area, the number of certified organic farms and volumes of organic production, the ensuring of environmental marking, the forming of the ecological management and products certification system, etc.

The article examines modern state and prospects of the development of organic market in the context of rationalization of the available natural-resource potential of Ukraine. Basing on the analysis of key organic production indicators it is relevant to conclude that during last year’s there is stable positive dynamics in growing of the area of farmlands that take part in the certified reduced production. Due to the improvement of the organic production recycling the level of organic production consuming and number of certified manufacturers have significantly increased. Consumers of Ukrainian organic production are predominantly the EU countries. Ukraine is interested in the organic market development and there are inevitable resources that can be found in every region of the country. We have characterized the legal principles that enable the organic market and the establishing of relation that are linked to the organic production development which are regulated by the Law of Ukraine and other legislative acts that are related to the issue. Basing on the data of the article and estimation of the organic production consuming level in Ukraine in 2010-2019 there were evaluated forecast indicators of the Ukrainian organic market capacity until 2023.

This paper reviews the status and potential of organic agribusiness in India. Organic farm production and trade has emerged as an important sector in India as in other parts of the developing world. The growing health concerns and increasing non-tariff barriers like Sanitary and Phyto-sanitary (SPS) measures in the international market are some of the factors behind the move from chemical-based to organic production and consumption systems. It was observed from the data that India had inherent strengths in the production and marketing of organic agricultural produce as it had the largest number of organic producers in the world and ninth in terms of area under organic cultivation. If the issues in production and marketing were taken care of, India had the potential to become a leading player in the organic sector. Encouraging organic agriculture would require appropriate government policies to address the problems of supply and demand uncertainty, appropriate processing technology, and cost of certification and inspection, and market development.

The paper analyzes confrontation concerning continuation of market reforms between main groups in Chinese elite after Tiananmen in 1989 and collapse of USSR in 1991. It considers in details the ‘southern tour’ of Deng Xiaoping in early 1992 and its impact on the balance of interests in Chinese elites before the 14th party congress. The paper shows also the specifics of Chinese reforms which combine market development with creation of rents for main elite groups.
