This study seeks to evaluate the efficacy of Art Psychotherapy as a treatment for children who have been exposed to trauma to decrease symptoms and the negative impacts on their social and psychological development. Thus, this mixed-method research closely documents the effects of an art psychotherapy program in Brazil in the treatment of 3 children, aged 9 years old, who have experienced trauma. Treatment effects were evaluated through a single-subject research design in a multiple baseline across participants design to quantitatively document change. Qualitatively, artwork progress is analyzed as well as parental and therapist’s evaluations. Results show that contingent on art psychotherapy implementation, targeted maladaptive behaviors decreased in frequency as compared to baseline, which was also reflected in their artwork. This study is aligned with previous work in the efficacy of art psychotherapy field and adds quantitative data to supports its use in the treatment of children with PTSD.

The aim of this research was to study the effectiveness of teaching with the simultaneous prompting in teaching students with intellectual disabilities attending the vocational education center and their ability to fold towels. Multiple baseline models with inter-subject probe stage, which is one of the single-subject research methods, has been used. The subjects of the research are three students, one female and two males, between the ages of 16-18. The dependent variable of the study was determined as the ability to fold the towel and the independent variable as the teaching with the simultaneous prompting using the physical prompt as a model + verbal prompt and error correction. In the study, inter-observer reliability and procedural reliability data were collected. Graphical analysis was used to determine the effectiveness of teaching with the simultaneous prompting. According to the findings obtained from the research, simultaneous prompting teaching is effective in teaching students with intellectual disabilities the ability to fold towels. It has been observed that the skill of folding towels into shapes continues to last two, three, and four weeks after the end of the education and that the subjects can generalize the skill in different types of towels.

Maladaptive behaviours of students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is negative behaviours, which disturb a learning process in the classroom. This study was conducted to identify the use of the behavior contract in reducing maladaptive behaviors in students with ADHD in Al Firdaus Elementary School Surakarta, Indonesia. Subject of this study was a third grade ADHD student. The Single Subject Research (SSR) with multiple baseline cross variables design was applied as experimental method. The target behaviors were directly observed, recorded in the instrument and analyzed by visual graphic analysis method. At the baseline-1 phase, the target behavior of verbally disrupting friends occured on average 20 times, while nonverbal disruption occured 24 times. The target behavior in the intervention -1 phase tended decrease, with an average of 5 times (verbal) and 4 times (nonverbal). At the baseline-2 phase, the target behavior of interrupting the teacher’s explanation occured on average 18 times. This behavior decreased in the intervention-2 phase with an average of 3 times. At the baseline-3 phase, the target behavior of unable to resist eating and drinking occured on average 10 times. At the intervention-3 phase, the behavior occured on average once. Children with intellectual disabilities often experience unclear speaking in the form of omission (reduction of words) and distortion (chaos in pronunciation). This problem resulted from their limited ability to understand words. The purpose of this study is to explain the effectiveness of video-based modelling with the help of folder-learning in improving speech intelligibility of mentally disabled children. The research method used is Single Subject Research with a Multiple Baseline Cross Variable design. The intervention involved video-based modelling of correct phoneme pronunciation and learning folder assistance that was used to help children learn the various types of spelling commonly found from Indonesian phonograms. The results revealed that video-based modelling with the help of folder-learning could be effectively used to improve the speech intelligibility of mentally disabled children. The use of songs in videos and the opportunity for children to write and delete in the learning folder become its main attraction in learning.[Anak tunagrahita sering mengalami ketidakjelasan berbicara berupa omisi (pengurangan kata) maupun distorsi (kekacauan dalam pengucapan).

In recent years, single-subject research, in which the investigator is interested in analyzing the effects of independent variables on particular individuals, has developed as an alternative to group designs. Many of these designs have been developed by researchers working with special populations in which preservation of individual progress is imperative. In this paper, five designs are discussed: the ABAB, multiple baseline, multiple probe, changing criterion, and multi-element. Examples are provided for each and suggestions are made for their use.
