Background: Listening to music will not only have a soothing and uplifting effects on someone but also a positive influence on the unborn baby. The positive vibes that will be acquired from listening to music will create a prenatal stimulation that will help pregnant mother to bond with their unborn baby. It will enable them to lower their stress and anxiety levels and also reduce any stress that the unborn baby may feel in the womb. Previous researches claimed the ability of music, especially western music, in reducing anxiety and stress toward pregnant woman. Aims and Objective: Instead of using western music, the present study investigated the effect of listening to gamelan music toward the reducing of anxiety on pregnancy. Materials and Methods: In a pilot experiment, 60 healthy volunteers (mean age = 29.0; SD = 5.0) evaluated their anxiety responses to a Javanese traditional musical piece using a Slendro Sanga scale. Results: The research shows significant effect (p<0.05; F=5.340) of Javanese traditional music to reduce anxiety in pregnant woman thus the hypotheses are accepted. Conclusion: Trust toward pregnant woman is important to be built because it can be the foundation of self-confidence and preventing stress. That is why, external situation is important since it has impact in internal situation.

Syphilis is a disease that has not been eradicated in part due to inadequate management of antibiotic therapy which is selected according to the stage of the disease and to the misuse of the type of penicillin. Treatment of this disease should be done to prevent it´s chronic complications, to avoid infecting sexual partners and the fetus in a pregnant woman. Syphilis in pregnancy causes increase in the rate of recurrent abortions and neonatal morbidity and mortality, that´s the main reason why early detection and treatment without delay is extremely important. Pregnancy alters immunity, so the serological diagnosis can provide false positives, with the use of inverse algorithms these results may decrease, by increasing the sensitivity of the tests. Today, after 69 years since the advent of penicillin, it has become the drug of choice for any stage of syphilis and in pregnant women; if the patient has allergy, desensitization is indicated either orally or intravenously and other antibiotic shouldn´t be used because of the security offered by penicillin in the cure rate and in the reduction of congenital syphilis. Keywords: Syphilis; Pregnancy; Inverse algorithms.

The ability to understand concepts is one of the goals of mathematical ability. One of the factors for the lack of ability to understand concepts is self-confidence. This study aims to determine the relationship between students' self-confidence and understanding of mathematical concepts in class XI MIA SMAN 3 Lubuk Basung Kabupaten Agam. This study uses inferential research where inferential research is a study that tests a hypothesis, and relates one variable to another with quantitative analysis. The subjects of this study were students of class XI MIA 1 SMAN 3 Lubuk Basung. The research instrument used was a self-confidence questionnaire and a test for understanding mathematical concepts. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression analysis and product moment correlation.Based on data analysis, the regression coefficient of the questionnaire score (b) is with a significant level of 0.05 because the regression coefficient (b) is positive, so there is a positive effect of X on Y. It means that the bigger X, the bigger Y on average. The close linear relationship between X and Y can be seen from the correlation coefficient r = where r approaches 1, then a positive linear relationship between X and Y so that it can be concluded that the bigger X, the greater Y and self-confidence has a positive influence on the ability to understand concepts of class XI students. Abstract Subarachnoid hemorrhage represents a rare event in pregnancy with a high mortality rate. We present the case of a 39-year-old pregnant woman who developed right vertebral artery dissection with subsequent massive subarachnoid hemorrhage with fatal outcome. The macroscopic and microscopic autopsy findings are described. A review of the literature with a discussion of the varied predisposing factors for vertebral artery dissection and subarachnoid hemorrhage and the rarity of these events in pregnancy is provided.

Pregnancy dermatoses are common, and because they are usually very itchy may ruin the life of the pregnant woman. It is particularly important to recognize when itch is due to intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, which has important implications for the health of both mother and fetus (see ...

This chapter argues that pregnancy is a medical condition — a condition to be monitored by doctors. Between seven and eighteen visits to the general practitioner (GP), local authority, or hospital clinic were made during pregnancy by the sample women for antenatal care: the average was thirteen. Going to the doctor suggests illness, and two other features of illness are associated with pregnancy in modern industrialised society: a pregnant woman, like other ‘patients’, is allowed to give up her normal work, and is encouraged to hand over responsibility for the management of her condition to others (the medical profession). Moreover, pregnancy produces unpleasant symptoms, each of which, in other circumstances, can be a sign of illness. Even in pregnancy some of these require medication, a habit not normally associated with health.

This chapter discusses the evaluation and management of acute ischemic stroke in pregnancy. Stroke in pregnancy is rare, but is a significant cause of morbidity. The etiologies of stroke in pregnancy are diverse. The most common causes in hospital-based studies are cardioembolic or related to eclampsia. The use of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV tPA) as well as intra-arterial clot retrieval in stroke have been validated by multiple trials. Small case series support the safety of both therapies in pregnancy. Therefore, the management of stroke in pregnancy should be based on the mechanism and severity of the stroke, not on obstetrical issues.

AbstractArrhythmias in pregnancy are uncommon. They are associated with significant hemodynamic burden on a pregnant mother. Tachycardia that induces hemodynamic instability affects the fetus and neonate apart from the mother. In this review, a brief attempt is made to discuss various arrhythmias that occur in pregnancy and their management.
