Noise is an unwanted sound. High-intensity noise has a detrimental effect on the health conditions. This study aims to measure noise intensity inside different rice mills in Surkhet valley. Rice mills are spread all over Nepal from village to town. They are among the noisiest environment. Twelve mills are selected at different locations inside the valley. Noise intensities are determined by using a sound-level meter and the health conditions of the workers are concluded using a questionnaire technique. The study shows that noise level status is well above the recommended level set by the World Health Organization (WHO). It also concludes statistically that high intensity of sound causes hearing problems in workers.

Abstract An industrial process such as wheat processing generates significant noise which can cause adverse effects on workers and the general public. This study assessed the noise level at a wheat processing mill in Ilorin, Nigeria. A portable digital sound level meter HD600 manufactured by Extech Inc., USA was used to determine the noise level around various machines, sections and offices in the factory at pre-determined distances. Subjective assessment was also mode using a World Health Organization (WHO) standard questionnaire to obtain information regarding noise ratings, effect of noise on personnel and noise preventive measures. The result of the study shows that the highest noise of 99.4 dBA was recorded at a pressure blower when compared to other machines. WHO Class-4 hearing protector is recommended for workers on the shop floor and room acoustics should be upgraded to absorb some sounds transmitted to offices.

Chronic health conditions and disabilities interfere with major life activities, and these interferences are the result of complex interactions between health condition factors, psychological factors, personal factors, and socioenvironmental factors. The World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) framework is a biopsychosocial model that conceptualizes the experience of disability with attention to these interactions. The World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0) is an assessment tool developed to measure self-reported activity limitations and restrictions to participation experienced by individuals with disabilities independent of his or her medical diagnosis. In order to allow practitioners to effectively use this tool with individuals with various chronic illnesses and disabilities, the current study aimed to evaluate the measurement structure and psychometric properties of the WHODAS 2.0. A total of 945 adults with disabilities participated in the current study. Results support two-factor structure of this measurement tool with adequate reliability and construct validity. The WHODAS 2.0 is a valid, useful tool for rehabilitation counseling professionals to more effectively support adults with chronic health conditions and disabilities in achieving their psychosocial and employment success.

The World Health Organization defines essential medicines as those which satisfy the primary healthcare needs of the population. In 2013, the World Health Organization introduced a new section on medicines for pain and palliative care in the 18th edition of the Model List of Essential Medicine including 15 medicines for the most common symptoms in life-limiting health conditions. More recently, the Lancet Commission on palliative care developed an essential package which also includes equipment and human resources in addition to the essential medicines. The Lancet Commission specified that in order to achieve universal health coverage, coverage of the essential package is recommended by dedicated, pro-poor, public or publicly mandated funding and for all relevant health conditions. However, in many regions of the world, all or some of the essential medicines are not available at all, or if they are available in the country, they are regularly out of stock in the local pharmacy, out-of-pocket costs are so high that patients cannot afford the medicines, or whole families become impoverished buying treatment for their loved one. Problems with accessibility, affordability, and availability are particularly evident with opioid analgesics such as morphine. However, accessibility, affordability, and availability of essential medicines is a pivotal prerequisite for the delivery of quality palliative care.

Improving global health conditions has been one of the most important and difficult challenges for the world community. Despite concerted efforts by international organizations, like the World Health Organization, great disparities in health conditions remain between developed and developing countries, as well as within those countries. The World Health Organization has achieved some successes through its Health for All strategy; however, it can and should encourage member nations to enact national and international laws to protect and promote the health status of their populations. A comparison to the lawmaking efforts in other areas by international organizations indicates that WHO may have the authority and the means to institutionalize efforts to improve global health conditions.

Acoustic pollution is a type of negative impact on the environment. According to the World Health Organization, the increased noise level is the second largest after pollution of the atmospheric air by the environmental cause of health problems in the population of industrial and transport cities. The increase in the number of road transport in the cities of the Irkutsk region leads to an increase in noise levels, its penetration into residential, public and office buildings. The increase in noise is also associated with the construction of new highways, bridges and roundabouts in cities. The article assesses noise pollution in large cities of the Irkutsk region. Observations on the composition and intensity of traffic at major intersections, highways and residential areas were carried out. With help of the sound level meter, noise level measurements were made in the daytime and at night and noise maps of the levels of the urban road network were constructed. The legislative basis for noise regulation in the Russian Federation and the countries of the European Union has been studied. A set of measures is suggested that contributes to reducing the acoustic impact on residents of the cities of the Irkutsk region.

The density of motorized vehicles, especially motorcycles on the highway, is getting higher. However, in line with the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, it has an impact on the decrease in the number of motorized vehicles on the highway. The density of motorcycles has a significant effect on noise, from all analysis calculations, the largest equation is obtained on the fourth day of the study, the second point (Sound Level Meter 2), with a contribution of 32.42%. Obtained the calculation below, y = 63.36 + 0.002x1. This equation means that if there is no decrease in motorcycle density, the noise level in SLM2 is 63.36 dBA. If there is a motorcycle density also has a significant effect on noise. The second largest equation was obtained on the third day of research at the third point (Sound Level Meter 3) with a contribution of 36.21% based on the equation calculation below, y = 60.24 + 0.001x1. The meaning of the above equation is that if there is an increase in the density of the motorcycle, the noise in the SLM3 is 60.24 dBA. The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world, Indonesia is also getting its effects, especially the very large Bogor district. The rapid spread of Covid-19 has changed the pattern of life for the people of Bogor, especially students who initially go to school every morning, now go to school and study online.
