Knowledge of phenotypic variation among the germplasm is important for the breeding program of garden pea. This study was conducted to evaluate the growth and yield traits of garden pea genotypes and to identify high yielding, and powdery mildew resistant genotype at Horticulture Research Station (HRS), Dailekh, Mid-western Nepal. Eleven garden pea genotypes were evaluated in the main production season (2018-2019) and compared with 'Sikkim Local' as standard variety, and the experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The analysis of variance revealed that genotypes had significant variation for all the traits studied except few insignificant traits. Significantly higher number of green pod/plant, green pod yield/plant, seed number/pod and seed yield/plant were recorded in genotypes DGP-12-18-2 and DGP-12-18-1 as compared with other studied genotypes. Genotype DGP-12-18-2, and DGP-12-18-1 exhibited resistant (2) to powdery mildew disease and these genotypes showed 45.8% and 16.6% yield advantage over the standard check 'Sikkim Local' variety. Therefore, genotypes DGP-12-18-2 and DGP-12-18-1 can be recommended to produce for fresh green pod and seed yield at on-farm condition of Mid-Western Nepal.

The Field experiment was conducted in a Randomized block Design (RBD) with three replications during Rabi, 2020-2021 at Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj. The genetically pure seeds of Mustard variety Pusa-21 were used for the study. The mustard seeds primed with botanicals and chemicals( Vermiwash, Panchagavya, Azatobactor, NaCl , KNO3, Neem leaf, Parthenium leaf and FYM) were subjected to  study in field experiment of growth and yield parameters were recorded. Objectives of the topic are to evaluate the Influence of bio fertilizer and organic seed treatment on growth, yield and yield attributing traits of mustard crop and to find out the suitable pre-sowing seed treatment  for mustard crop. Analysis of variance revealed significant mean sum of squares due to seed priming treatments. The highest germination percent (88.89),plant height (132.53 cm), number of branches(12.60 per plant),  yield attributing parameters in mustard as number of silique per plant (292.87), number of seeds per silique (18.73), seed yield per plant (17.73 gm/plant), seed yield  per plot (214.33 gm/ plot), biological yield per plot (443.15/ plot), seed yield per hectare (2143.33 kg/ ha), biological yield per hectare (5140 kg/ ha) and harvest index (41.69) showing better result when treated with treatment vermiwash 5 % for 12 hours. Remaining treatments i.e, treatment with panchgavya 5 % & 3 %, azotobactor 3 % & 2 %, NaCl  0.5 % & 0.1 %, KNO3 0.5 % & 0.1 %, neem leaf extract, parthenium leaf extract for and fym 2 % for 12 hours recorded the second most effective treatments and observed significantly superior. It  concluded that T8 (vermiwash 5% solution) found superior in all the growth and yield parameters.

Field experiment was carried out during the two successive seasons (2015-2016 and 2016-2017) at Sids Research Station, Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Bani Swif Governorate, Egypt, to evaluate the response of some new chickpea genotypes cultivated under Egyptian soil conditions for rhizobial inoculation alone or in combination with foliar inoculation of Pink Pigmented Facultatively Methylotrophic bacteria (PPFMs) as Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR). Nodulation status, some vegetative growth and yield parameters were determined. The obtained results cleared that all chickpea genotypes tested were positively responded to the native soil rhizobia and formed root nodules. Rhizobial inoculation alone or in combination with foliar application of PPFMs bacteria (5 L fed-1) scored significant increases in nodule numbers, plant dry weight, yield per plant as well as seed yield at the both seasons as compared to untreated treatments. Using rhizobial inoculation and PPFMs bacteria emphasized the superiority and gave of the highest values at all tested parameters. Generally, the second season gave the highest values at all plant tested parameters as compared to uninoculated ones. Chickpea genotypes GT3, GT4 and GT7 emphasized higher response to cultivated under Egyptian soil conditions and gave higher values for nodules number and dry weight, growth parameters i.e. plant dry weight and plant N-content and yield parameters i.e. yield per plant, seed index and seed yield ton. fed-1 as compared to chickpea variety G195.

<p>Pada pertanaman jarak pagar yang masih muda (umur 1–2 tahun) dengan jarak tanam 2 m x 2 m ada lahan kosong yang tidak termanfaatkan. Upaya optimalisasi pemanfaatan lahan adalah menanam tanaman sela, sehingga petani mempunyai pendapatan dari tanaman sela sebelum jarak pagar menghasilkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tanaman sela terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil jarak pagar dan men-dapatkan macam tanaman sela yang sesuai pada jarak pagar hasil rehabilitasi (penyambungan) pada tahun ketiga. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Muktiharjo, Kabupaten Pati, Jawa Tengah mulai bulan Januari hingga Desember 2011, menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok diulang enam kali. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah: 1) jarak pagar + kacang tanah, 2) jarak pagar + kedelai, 3) jarak pagar + kacang hijau, 4) jarak pagar + wijen, dan 5) jarak pagar tanpa tanaman sela. Ukuran petak 8 m x 8 m, jarak tanam jarak pagar 2 m x 2 m. Jarak tanam tanaman sela kacang tanah, kedelai, dan kacang hijau masing-masing 25 cm x 25 cm, sedangkan jarak tanam wijen 50 cm x 25 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil biji kering tanaman jarak pagar dengan tanaman sela kedelai, kacang hijau, dan wijen tidak berbeda nyata dengan hasil biji kering jarak pagar monokultur kecuali dengan kacang tanah. Hasil biji kering jarak pagar + kedelai 655,87 kg/ha + 1.316,07 kg/ha; jarak pagar + kacang hijau 644,70 kg/ha + 1.557,5 kg/ha; jarak pagar + wijen 511,49 kg/ha + 1.416,67 kg/ha; jarak pagar + kacang tanah yaitu 358,31 kg/ha + 1.015,28 kg/ha; dan hasil biji kering tanaman jarak pagar tanpa tanaman sela 602,27 kg/ha. Tumpang sari jarak pagar dengan keempat macam tanaman sela (kacang tanah, kedelai, kacang hijau, dan wijen), efisien dalam pemanfaatan lahan dan layak secara ekonomi untuk ditanam dan dikembangkan bersama dengan tanaman jarak pagar rehabilitasi tahun ketiga dengan nilai NKL masing-masing: 1,32; 1,64; 1,98; 1,72 dan B/C ratio 4,79; 1,88; 5,71; 7,03.</p><p> </p><p>In young jatropha plantation (1–2 years aged) with 2 m x 2 m spacing there is fallow land. The effort to optimize of land use was by planting intercrops, so that the farmers get income before the jatropha plant produce. This study aimed to determine the effect of intercrops on growth and yield of jatropha and get suitable intercrops in the jatropha rehabilitated plantation (by grafting) in the third year. Research was conducted at Muktiharjo Research Station, Pati, Central Java from January to December 2011. The experiment was arranged in randomized block design with 6 replications. Treatments were 1) intercropping physic nut + peanut, 2) intercropping physic nut + soybean, 3) intercropping physic nut + mungbean, 4) intercropping physic nut + sesame, and 5) physic nut monoculture. Plot size was 8 m x 8 m, plant distance of physic nut were 2 m x 2 m, and plant distances for peanut, soybean, and mungbean were 25 cm x 25 cm and for sesame was 50 cm x 25 cm. Result showed that intercropping was not significantly effect on seed yield of physic nut, however intercropping physic nut with peanut decreased the physic nut seed yield. Seed yield of intercropping physic nut + soybean 655.87 kg/ha + 1,316.07 kg/ha; physic nut + mungbean 644.70 kg/ha + 1,557.55 kg/ha; physic nut + sesame 511.49 kg/ha + 1,416.67 kg/ha; physic nut + peanut 358.31 kg/ha + 1,015.28 kg/ha; and physic nut monoculture 602.27 kg/ha. Intercropping physic nut with four kinds of intercrop plant (peanut, soybean, mungbean, and sesame), efficient land use and economically viable for the grown and developed along with physic nut rehabilitation third year with the value of each land equi-valent ratio (LER) 1.32; 1.64; 1.98; 1.72 intercropping and B/C ratio 4.79; 1.88; 5.71; and 7.03.</p>

A field trial was conducted during two consecutive summer seasons of2012 and 2013 at ICAR-Central Potato Research Station, Shillong, Meghalaya to evaluate the integration of nutrient sources on productivity and soil health under rainfed potato cultivation in north eastern hill region of India. There were six treatments of integrated nutrient management viz., 100% Recommended dose of fertilizers,75% RDF through synthetic fertilizers and 25% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through FYM, 50% RDF and 50% RDN through FYM, 25% RDF and 75% RDN through FYM, 100% RDN through FYM and control (no application of any sources of nutrients). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with four replications. Nutrient management practices showed the significant improvement on growth and yield attributes of potato over control plot. Highest productivity of potato tubers (t/ha) was noticed with application of 75% RDF through synthetic fertilizers along with 25% RDN through FYM. Similarly, the maximum net return was associated with application of 75% RDF and 25% RDN through FYM under investigation. Application of 75% Recommended dose of nutrients through synthetic fertilizers in combination with 25% Recommended dose of nitrogen through FYM was more profitable for sustainable production of potato in the north eastern hill region of India.

A field experiment was conducted for investigation of different phosphorus fertilizer sources and their importance in rapeseed farms on 2007 at Arak, Iran. Ammonium phosphate fertilizer with 50% P2O5 (APF) was as chemical phosphorus sources with 3 rates of application and Phosphor solublizing bacteria (PSB) was as biological phosphorus surcease in 4 levels. Experiment was factorial arrangement in randomized complete block design with 3 replications. APF levels were control (AP0), 125kg/ha APF (AP1) and 250kg/ha (AP2) application and PSB levels were, control (PSB0), PSB at sowing time only (PSB1), PSB as top dress fertilizer after over wintering only (PSB2) and PSB at dual fertilizing in sowing time and also after over wintering (PSB3). The statistical analyses were showed that the PSB3 treatment was a great treatment for increasing seed yield. The heist rate of seed yield was recorded at 9.9t/ha under dual fertilizing in sowing time and after rosette over wintering stage. The interaction effects of phosphorus solublizing bacteria and ammonium phosphate fertilizer application had not significant effect on plant height, biomass yield, number of silique per plant, seed oil percent and seed yield. Interaction effects of phosphorus solublizing bacteria and ammonium phosphate fertilizer application were significant for plant tissues phosphorus content.

An experiment was conducted at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University farm from April to June 2017 in Kharif season to evaluate the performance of two mungbean varieties under different NPK fertilizers doses in field conditions. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), comprising six treatments with three replications. In the experiment, varieties used were BARI mung-6 and BARI mung-5 and the combination of the treatment were T0 = (control), T1 (10-40-25 NPK kg ha-1), T2 (10-60-45 NPK kg ha-1), T3 (20-50-35 NPK kg ha-1), T4 (30-40-25 NPK kg ha-1) and T5 (30-40-45 NPK kg ha-1), respectively. Mungbean cultivars responded noticeably to the supplementary NPK fertilizers as the crop characters were significantly influenced by different levels of NPK fertilizers. Data were recorded on plant height, leaves plant-1, branches plant-1, pods plant-1, seeds pod-1, 1000-seed weight, seed, and straw yield at different days after sowing. Of the two varieties, BARI mung-6 gave the highest seed yield (1.72 t ha-1) next to the higher plant growth and straw yield On the contrary, BARI mung-5 cultivar produced the lowest seed yield (1.57t ha-1), plant growth, and straw yield. The results showed that T3 (20-50-35 NPK kg ha-1) treatment was the best treatment as regards plant growth and yield parameters. The highest seed yield was produced by treated plot T3 (20-50-35 NPK kg ha-1) over the untreated control plot, T1, T2, T4, and T5, respectively. As for the combined effect, V1T3 (BARI mung-6 and T3 = 20kg N + 50kg P + 35kg K ha-1) performed the best results in all growth and development characters. Therefore, the combined application of 20-50-35 kg NPK ha-1 might be considered to be found optimal to get a considerable seed yield of mungbean variety BARI mung-6.

Kenaf is a multi-purpose crop with numerous industrial uses. Its production is constrained by poor cultural and agronomic practices which reduce yield. Inappropriate spacing among others could result in low yield. Effect of plant spacing on growth and yield of kenaf was investigated in Ibadan, Nigeria. Kenaf seed was sown (2 plants/stand) at three plant spacing: 50×15, 50×20, 50×25 cm was assessed for seed and bast fibre yields using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replicates. The analysis was done using statistical analysis system (SAS). Plant spacing differed significantly for bast fibre and seed yields. Highest bast fibre yield (0.9±0.03) and seed yield (0.5±0.01) were obtained at 50×20 cm and 50×25 cm spacing, respectively, while the lowest bast fibre yield (0.7±0.01) and seed yield (0.3±0.01) were obtained at 50×15 cm spacing. Spacing of 50 × 15 cm and 50 × 20 cm are appropriate when planting for fibre while 50 × 25cm is appropriate for seed production. Keywords: Kenaf, Spacing, Fibre and Seed yield.

Squash seeds yield and quality can be improved by proper population plant spacing and the pollen quantity, which influences the pollination quality and fertilization. Nine experiments were conducted as a factorial combination of three spacing between plants (0.8 x 0.3, 0.8 x 0.6 and 0.8 x 0.9 m), two quantities of pollen (50% of an anther and another entire one) and natural insect pollination. Seed and fruit production parameters, and seed quality were evaluated. A randomized complete block design, five replications, with ten plants per plot was adopted. Larger plant spacing increased the average number of mature fruits and seed yield per plant. Seed yield was directly proportional to the amount of pollen used during pollination. Higher amounts of pollen resulted in higher seed yield per area, but the plant spacing did not affect this characteristic. Manual pollination, using a whole anther, did not differ from natural pollination in relation to seed yield and quality.

The field experiment was carried out with some selected mungbean genotypes viz. IPSA-13, VC-6173A, BU mug 2, BARI Mung-5 and IPSA-12 to observe the effect of 4-days flooding on their growth and yield of mungbean under field conditions at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur, Bangladesh during September to November, 2011 maintaining 3-5 cm standing water at 24 days after emergence. Days to flowering and maturity delayed in flooded plants over control depending on the genotypes. Flooding significantly reduced Total Day Matters (TDM), number of pods per plant, seed size and seed yield of the mungbean genotypes over control. Considering higher seed yield, larger seed size and less yield reduction relative to control VC-6173A, BU mug 2 and IPSA-13 were found tolerant to soil flooding condition.Bangladesh J. Agril. ABSTRACT<br />Application of organic fertilizer into the soil is designated as a source of macro, micro nutrients and organic acids; it also acts as soil ameliorant that improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. Application of high rates organic fertilizer has a constraint namely the availability and ease of application. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the use of organic fertilizer with low rates to improve the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. This research was aimed to study the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of paddy rice, as well as the efficiency of N, P, K inorganic fertilizer. Field experiment was conducted at Sawah Baru Research Station, University Farm IPB, Bogor, West Java from September to December 2013. The experiment used Randomized Block Design consisted of two factors: rates of organic fertilizer (0, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 kg ha-1), and rates of inorganic fertilizer (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg ha-1). The results suggested that the application of 1,000 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 did not show significant interaction. Application of organic fertilizer alone up to 1,000 kg ha-1 resulted in low growth and yield. Increasing rates of  application up to 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 increased the growth and yield of paddy rice. The highest N efficiency was 89.19% at a rate of 500 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 200 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1, whereas the highest efficiency of P and K, respectively were 69.55% and 92.52% at a rate of 750 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 300 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1.<br />Keywords: NPK, organic fertilizer, paddy rice
