This article outlines how the measurement of political issue spaces has developed in the past eighty years through borrowings from psychometrics (scaling, factor analysis, and unfolding), additions from political science theories (the spatial theory of voting and ideal points), and confronting the special problems of political survey, roll-call, and interest-group ratings data. Psychometrics is a subfield of psychology devoted to the development, evaluation, and application of mental tests of various kinds. In the 1980s, political scientists began combining techniques from econometrics and statistics with approaches developed by psychometricians. The effect of psychometrics displays no sign of abating in political science. The level of sophistication of psychometric applications in political science has steadily increased in the past twenty years.

The purpose — to conduct a systematic analysis of the modern Russian and foreign publications on the role of microbiome in preeclampsia pathogenesis. Material and methods. Analysis of the modern Russian and foreign publications over the past eight years on the PubMed platform, systematic reviews of Cochrane, MEDLINE, and Google Scholar was conducted. Results. Preeclampsia is a severe manifestation of placental dysfunction resulting from angiogenic imbalance and inflammation. For a long time, the «sterile uterus» paradigm rejected the possible role of bacteria in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia and other complications of pregnancy. The introduction of new molecular genetics diagnostic methods made it possible to confirm the presence of bacterial communities in the uterus, placenta and amniotic fluid. The physiological microbiome maintains gravidar homeostasis, but dysbiosis in various niches is a potential cause of inflammation and can lead to pathological pregnancy outcomes such as preterm labor and preeclampsia. Conclusion. The microbiome of the oral cavity, intestines, vagina, uterus and placenta may play a certain role in the preeclampsia pathogenesis.

On the vectors of studying of the topic of deathin modern Russian proseIn Russian prose of the past decades, one can see the broadening of the scope of mortal spaces presented. Traditional chronotopes of the trench war, battlefield, hospital, deathbed, cemetery, sites of murder and suicide are now complemented by the chronotope of exclusion zones after environmental or other catastrophe, the chronotope of foreign land of long-distance and hybrid warfare, and the chronotope of acts of terror and territories suffering from pandemics. There appear new angles of comprehension of the thanatological characters, plots, and topics. The article deals with the analysis of how the aforementioned are reflected in the works by S. Aleksievych, O. Yermakov, Z. Prilepin, E. Vodolazkin, O. Postnov, K. Khutsishvili, D. Bortnikov, M. Hobbel and other authors.

The article deals with the analysis of the semantic changes in the vocabularies of the Russian and Azerbaijani languages caused by the influence of the different factors. Semantic archaisms are systematized according their belonging to the concrete part of speech (nouns, adjectives, verbs) and given in the appropriate tables. The reasons of the semantic changes during the historical development of the language are explained. Some Russian semantic archaisms are still used in the other Slavic languages (Ukrainian, Polish, Serbian). The historical excursus is carried out in the article, as necessary. So though the meanings of the Russian and Azerbaijani words considered in the article are archaic they are preserved in the structure of the modern words and might be relevant to the specific fields. They are used as terms in the different fields of science, they are preserved in the dialects, folklore. They are also important components of idioms, proverbs, sayings as they are relics of the past retained in the modern Russian and Azerbaijani languages. They have their own characteristics that makes them unique lexical items. Research of such semantic changes caused by the different factors is very interesting and significance both from the linguistic and historical standpoints.

During the 20th century, Congress experienced two main shifts in partisan conflict. Early decades were marked by a substantial decrease in party divisiveness, reaching a nadir by mid-century. Beginning in the 1970s, partisanship has increased to the point that Congress is viewed as “hyper-partisan.” Political scientists have thoroughly examined this more recent shift; however, few studies consider why party divisiveness has fluctuated during the past century and over time more generally. Lee’s recent work contends a main factor that drives legislative partisanship is the majority party’s prospects for retaining control of its chamber. Using data on every Senate roll call vote since 1915 and a novel measure of party competition, I test an extension of Lee’s argument and examine whether partisan voting is associated with insecure majority status. My results indicate that voting coalitions in the Senate become more partisan as the majority’s probability of remaining in power decreases.

This article dedicated to identification distortions in the traditional interpretations of the concepts of “West” and “East” in modern Russian media discourse. The goal lies in outlining separate aspects of distortion of these concepts and determination of causes for the emergence of such distortions in mass media discourse. The object of this research is the modern Russian media discourse that takes place in the online space. The subject is the distortions of media discourse. The article employs the analysis of scientific literature, linguoculturological text analysis, comparison and systematization of research results, continuous sampling, and keyword search. The scientific novelty consists in the fact that that this article is first to examine distortions of the concepts of “West” and “East”. It is revealed that the content of the concept of “West”, namely such aspects as modernity, progressiveness, development of new technologies, wealth, etc., are exposed to distortions the most; while the concept of “East” and its components, such as tradition, ancient civilization, despotism of state power, vestige of the past, impairment of rights of the women, and specific mode of living remain virtually unchanged. The conclusion is made that distortions of the concept of “West” and consistency of the concept of “East” in media discourse may be associated with the orientation of modern Russia towards Eastern civilization, as well deliberate opposition of Russia and the West presented in media discourse.

The relevance of this topic is due to the fact that over the past 20 years there have been constant transformations of organizational, economic, content nature, which is undoubtedly an occasion for scientific understanding and analysis not only of journalists but also of economists and political scientists on the domestic media market.
