✓Metastatic brain tumors continue to increase in incidence as patients with cancer live longer. The options for management continue to evolve as well, with advances in radiation-based treatment, chemotherapy, and surgery. Although metastatic brain tumors are frequently treated without surgical intervention, there continues to be a significant role for surgery in caring for patients with these lesions. Study data have proven that surgery has a positive effect on survival and quality of life in properly selected patients. Those with a suitable age, functional status, systemic disease control, and several metastases may be suitable for surgical treatment. Advances in preoperative imaging and planning as well as intraoperative surgical adjuncts have lowered the morbidity associated with resection. With proper patient selection and operative and postoperative management, resection continues to play a significant and evolving role in the care of patients with metastatic brain tumor.

The sub-constructs of attitude include: the quality of offered service, the value of money, hotel business facility, hotel security, food and beverage, and service recovery. Panel database, which was provided by Qualtrics, was used to examine the hypotheses of this study. Data was collected from 275 business travelers who stayed at a hotel in the last six months and read e-comments in advance of the purchase. Results of hypotheses testing indicated that quality of offered service, the value of money, and subjective norm have a positive effect on business travelers` intention to purchase. The findings of this research can help both hoteliers and online-review website operators. Since business travelers are considered an important target market in the hotel industry, hoteliers need to put more emphasis on these factors to attract more business travelers.

Background. Psoriasis is a systemic disease with the presence of comorbid pathology, which is the cause of serious psychological problems. The aim of the study was to assess the quality of life and psychoemotional status of patients with psoriasis against the background of standard drug therapy with the inclusion of photochromotherapy (PCT). Methods. The randomized controlled study included 144 patients (mean age 48.34 13.51 years) with psoriasis in the advanced stage. Patients, depending on the method of treatment, were divided into 4 groups, comparable by clinical and functional characteristics. For all groups, standard drug treatment was prescribed, including antiinflammatory, hyposensitizing, detoxification and external therapy, while additionally for 10 days, patients of the 2nd group (n = 47) received PCT with narrow-band optical radiation (NOR) 540 nm, patients of the 3rd group (n = 48) PCT with NOR 650 nm, patients of the 4th group (n = 21) imitation of PCT (placebo). Patients of the 1st group (n = 28) received only standard treatment. Results. The positive effect of NOR 540 nm on the psychoemotional state and NOR 650 nm on the quality of life of patients with psoriasis has been demonstrated. Conclusion. Thus, taking into account the significant positive effect of green radiation (NOR 540 nm) on the indicators of the psychoemotional state of patients with psoriasis in the advanced stage and the positive effect of red radiation (NOR 650 nm) on the indices of integral dermatological index of quality of life (improving the quality of life), NOR with these wavelengths can be recommended in the complex therapy of patients with exacerbation of psoriasis to increase the overall effectiveness of treatment.

There is a number of unsolved issues in management of epilepsy associated with primary and metastatic brain tumors (BTs). In particular, no consensus approaches to treatment of patients with epilepsy associated with BTs have been proposed regarding use of current anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs). The review presents the relevant data on epidemiology, features of clinically manifested epilepsy at varying stages of BTs, aspects of drug-drug interaction between AEDs and anti-tumor agents, AED-related effects on cognitive functions as well as quality of life in patients with epilepsy associated with BTs. Levetiracetam and valproic acid comprise the first-line drugs for treating seizures in patients with BTs. It is unreasonable to use AEDs acting as hepatic microsomal enzyme inducers for therapy of epileptic seizures in BTs, because it may decrease efficacy of chemotherapy agents and glucocorticoids along with elevated rate of side effects. Perampanel acting as a selective noncompetitive AMPA receptor antagonist, may be one of the drugs of choice for the adjunctive therapy of epileptic seizures associated with BTs.

Background: Cancer treatment causes various skin appearance changes, which affect quality of life (QoL) in patients with cancer. We examined whether camouflage makeup improves QoL in these patients. Methods: Skindex-16 and visual analogue scale scores of 39 female patients with cancer treatment–related skin changes were compared before and 2–3 months after self-administration of camouflage makeup. Results: Camouflage makeup was able to conceal almost all skin changes, improving QoL scores regardless of age, diagnosis, and site of skin changes. Use frequency was significantly higher in patients with skin changes on exposed sites compared with patients with unexposed sites. Conclusions: Even though the patients applied the makeup only when required, they were satisfied with its effect, which improved their QoL. Moreover, the makeup had a positive effect even in patients with changes in unexposed sites, suggesting that clinicians can recommend camouflage makeup to all patients to improve QoL.

Abstract Purpose The study aims to determine the effect of palliative care and training provided to caregivers of hospitalized patients with terminal cancer theoretically, practically and visually on their own and patients’ quality of life. Methods This quasi-experimental study was conducted at a palliative care unit in Turkey between January and June 2019. The study included 35 hospitalized patients with cancer and 35 caregivers. Caregivers were provided with palliative care and training three times a week apart. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Friedman test and iterative analysis of variance. Results After the palliative care and training, there was an increase in cancer patients’ emotional function sub-scale and global health and decrease in their fatigue and nausea-vomiting symptoms (p<0.05). The mean scores of caregivers from role difficulty, pain, vitality, social function, emotional and mental health sub-scales were high (positively) (p<0.001).Conclusions Palliative care and training have a positive effect on caregiver burden and recovery in some quality of life sub-scales of both patients and caregivers.
