Information is transmitted by signals that have a material-and-energy nature, but it is not matter and not energy. The in-formation ensures communication of interacting objects of alive and inanimate nature. Information and communications technology underlie the new production paradigm called the “Industry 4.0”. In accordance with this paradigm, increased attention is paid to the pre-production phase on which relevant comprehensive solutions for the automation of design and production are taken, ranging from receiving an order for the product and ending with its shipment to the consumer. At the same time, issues of production management and efficient control of technological processes are solved, including scheduling and material requirement planning. At the pre-production phase, a virtual product is created (the information model of the real product in the form of a “virtual reality”), and at the execution phase a real (physical) product appears, which has a use value (possession utility). The implementation phase begins only after systemic computer modeling, simulation, and optimization of the technological process and operations, that is, after assessing both the time and the cost of virtual technological processes. In this regard, this research discusses topical issues of interaction between virtual information at the pre-production (preparatory) phase and new information arising at the implementation phase of physical technology in terms of improving the efficiency of computer-integrated production. It is shown that the information is a basic category not only in information (virtual) technology for its transformation and transmission, but also in physical technology of material production at the stage of manufacturing the appropriate material product, on the one hand, and (by analogy) in the process of distance learning of specialists, on the other hand (although information is not knowledgeable yet). Particular attention is paid to measuring procedure and assessing its accuracy; this work is not formal and requires the use of an intellectual system to ensure the accuracy of the information received.

Digital production modern methods, data processing, and simulation allow using software for investigating complex production processes. An article presents a web for modeling technological processes in the mining industry development. The web service will make it possible to make more efficient, faster, and more accurate decisions, reducing the uncertainty in production management.

Contemporary economic globalization is typically seen as a product of both trade and economic liberalization after the Second World War and of technological advances that have made it possible to overcome coordination and management of geographically dispersed production units. Trade liberalization and technological advances were certainly important variables, but I argue that it was neo-protectionist American policies of the early 1980s that provided the initial catalyst for globally networked production processes. American protectionism encouraged Japanese investment in the United States that allowed US car manufacturers to learn the essentials of network manufacturing as practiced by Japanese transplants in the United States. In the next stage of global network manufacturing, liberal trade played a much more pivotal role because the global supply chains could not obviously be maintained without liberal trade. In this paper, I also discuss the likelihood of a reversal and suggest that globalization is unlikely to reversed in a significant way. Liberal trade is essential to the integrity of global supply chain networks, but these new production processes have themselves created a firewall against future systemic protectionism.

In the article a common semi-Markov mathematical model is considered that allows one to investigate the productivity and reliability of various technological processes of mechanical assembly production. The proposed model allows to study, inter alia, technological processes of manufacturing parts with screw and assemblies of threaded connections. Mathematical apparatus of the research is the theory of semi-Markov processes with a common phase space, which operates with a common kind of random variables distribution functions. If the considering process in the system is a subsystem located on a higher level of hierarchy, the hierarchical model for compatibility with each other levels as output simulation parameters required distribution functions. In the proposed model, based on the decision of the Markov renewal equations depend not only on the torque characteristics, but also the distribution function of time per unit of output service according to different kinds of undervalued failures.

Abstract. In order to resolve problem of production plane and dispatch problem in manufacturing plant, a new production management system is proposed, and the key technology and application of system is discussed. Generation technology of dynamic structure tree is firstly introduced. More ever, dynamic report generation technology is also discussed and based data, and information management is realized based on JSP technology. Lastly, typical interface of workshop production management system is described.

Current machining trimming of large structures is done using machines of sizes determined by the parts’ dimensions. Instead, the technology described here permits a process driven design and thus new production processes. To achieve this, a self-navigating platform is equipped with a robot and a multi-axle-milling unit and been enhanced with sub-systems for navigation, referencing and worker safety.

By drawing from the dynamic capabilities approach, this study examines innovation from the perspective of winery owners and managers representing four different countries. Semi-structured, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 56 participants. As many as 12 common forms of innovation were revealed among the four groups, with intangible aspects conforming the large majority. For instance, sensing comprised efforts to increase export markets, new winery equipment and technologies, whereas seizing included more presence in social media and wine tourism, focusing on niche-batch production, or preserving and rescuing ancient varietals. Reconfiguring was manifested through consistency in product quality, more knowledge of foreign languages, networking and by trying new ways, particularly in production processes. A resulting theoretical framework, which reveals a circular process among sensing, seizing and reconfiguring, is subsequently proposed. Similarly, a developed roadmap aligned with wineries’ way of innovating suggests important implications for wineries and their industry.

In this work, pervaporation experiments were carried out, in which water was separated from mixtures containing formaldehyde, water, methanol, methylal, and poly(oxymethylene) dimethyl ethers (OME). This separation is interesting for new production processes for the synthetic fuel OME. Five commercial membranes were studied: two zeolite membranes (Type NaA and Type T from Mitsui & Co.) and three PVA-based polymer membranes (PERVAP 4100, PERVAP 4101, and PERVAP 4102 from DeltaMem AG). The membrane flux and the composition of the permeate have been measured. The zeolite membranes were tested at 343 K and 7 mbar permeate pressure and the polymer membranes were tested at 353 K and 2 mbar permeate pressure. The investigated mixtures are inherently reactive, as formaldehyde reacts both with water and methanol. The zeolite membranes could only be used once, whereas the polymer membranes showed no significant degradation in a repeat experiment.
