Diabetes Meliitus merupakan penyakit kronik. Perawatan mandiri penderita DM bertujuan untuk mengelola penyakit terhadap dampak fisiologis, emosi dan hubungan interpersonal. Pada tahun 2014, American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) merumuskan ada tujuh pilar perawatan mandiri DM, antara lain: Pola makan yang sehat, Aktif secara fisik/aktif bergerak, minum obat, pemantauan, pemecahan masalah, mekanisme koping yang sehat, dan mengurangi resiko. Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease. Self-care for DM sufferers aims to manage the disease on its physiological, emotional and interpersonal relationships. In 2014, the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) formulated seven pillars of DM self-care, including: a healthy diet, being physically active/actively moving, taking medication, monitoring, problem solving, healthy coping mechanisms, and reducing stress. risk.

AbstractDiabetes mellitus is a chronic disease in which education plays a vital part. However, in India that is overburdened with diabetes has short of diabetes educators. Care for diabetes is limited by the adverse physician-to-patient ratio and lack of trained paramedical personnel. The following review focuses on role of diabetes educators in diabetes care and their current status in India.

Diabetes could be very challenging to manage due to its high complication that could give negative impacts to patient’s quality of life. Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable chronic disease that has caused significant morbidity since ten years ago. Diabetes Mellitus treatment is essential to reduce disease complication. Adapting self-care behaviour based on theory can, therefore, be implemented as one of the effective ways of managing diabetes.  Social Cognitive Theory has been one of the most common theories that used in many studies as to improve behaviours in-patient with chronic disease such as diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, managing good self-care is very important in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality of diabetes patients, however diabetes self-care became a challenge to many people living with diabetes, as they need to adapt and learn self-care practices in their daily lives. Thus this paper would provide an understanding of the health care professional in delivering their self-care services, also helping oneself to stay healthy and control their disease by good self-care practices.

Resumo No cenário do Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1 (DM1), uma prática incentivada é o autocuidado. Dessa forma, objetivou-se elaborar e validar um aplicativo móvel (APP) para a promoção do autocuidado em adolescentes com DM1. O método foi divido em duas etapas: elaboração e validação, que vão desde a revisão de literatura, benchmarking, construção do protótipo e validação por especialistas. A construção do APP foi subsidiada pelos sete passos propostos pela American Association of Diabetes Educators. Foram desenhadas as telas e selecionaram-se as possíveis funções; após o desenho, o protótipo do APP foi desenvolvido e nomeado como “DM Agendinha”. O processo de validação de conteúdo foi mediado pelo instrumento Suitability Assessment of Materials, por meio do qual o percentual obtido foi de 85,3%, caracterizando o APP como “Material Superior”. Para a validação técnica, empregou-se o questionário Smartphone Usability questionnaire, que obteve um Índice de Validade de Conteúdo global de 0,96. Conclui-se, portanto, que o uso desse material por parte dos adolescentes favorecerá a aquisição de novos conhecimentos e a adesão de práticas saudáveis, tendo em vista que se trata de uma tecnologia de caráter eletrônico e de fácil compreensão.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) merupakan penyakit kronis yang dapat mempengaruhi kondisi fisik, psikologis, sosial bahkan spiritual penderitanya. Salah satu upaya untuk dapat meminimalkan komplikasi DM adalah dengan melakukan self care DM. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tingkat kepatuhan self care pada pasien DM yang menjalani rawat jalan di RS PKU Muhamamdiyah Bantul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel penelitian adalah 54 responden pasien rawat jalan di poliklinik penyakit dalam di RS PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul pada bulan Agustus 2019. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah kuesioner SDSCA (Summary Diabetes Self Care Activities). Sebagian besar responden memiliki nilai tinggi dalam perilaku self care (51,9%). Perlunya upaya untuk meningkatkan kepatuhan self care pada pasien DM dan perawat dapat berperan penting didalamnya.   Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that can affect the physical, psychological, social and even spiritual condition of the sufferer. One effort to minimize DM complications is by doing DM self care. This study aims to describe the level of self care adherence in DM patients undergoing outpatient care at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Bantul. This research is a quantitative research using a cross sectional approach. A sample of 54 respondents who were outpatients in the internal medicine clinic at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Bantul in August 2019. The measuring instrument used was the SDSCA (Summary Diabetes Self Care Activities) questionnaire. Self-care behavior in the majority of respondents in the high category (51.9%). The need for efforts to improve self-care compliance in DM patients and nurses can play an important role in it. The results of this study indicate that the majority of DM patient have high self-care behavior.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the self-care activities of elderly people with diabetes mellitus and its correlation with the nurse-patient interpersonal relationship. Methods: Cross-sectional quantitative study, with 144 elderly people followed up in Family Health Units, with data collected by the Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire and Interpersonal Relationship Questionnaire in Nursing Care, being analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: There was a greater accomplishment of the activities Take insulin injections as recommended (6.74), Take diabetes medications as recommended (6.55) and Take the indicated number of diabetes pills (6.52). The interpersonal relationship showed moderate effectiveness (80.6%). The correlation between self-care with diabetes and interpersonal relationships showed a positive and significant value in the dimension Specific feeding. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the interpersonal relationship in nursing care resulted in greater compliance with activities related to specific food.
