The increasing interest towards abstracting as a type of analytical and synthetical information processing due to science globalization trend, is emphasized. The professionals who study this primary information compression are bibliographers, linguists, and information specialists. The author argues that modern professors and students all have to and must learn abstracting in accordance with the international standards for scientific, research, reference and instructional works. The author points to the diversity of the national lexicographical studies and, based on the abstracts index obtained as a result of her study, characterizes the current trends in abstracting linguistic dictionaries. The key user groups are defined. Publishers’ abstracts of dictionaries are discussed and represented. The example of dictionary Internet-based abstract analysis is given (50 items). Based on the abstracts texts, main negative factors to impact information value of this secondary information source are revealed, that is: lacking data essential for users, incomplete description of targeted readership, etc.The author introduces a model plan for digital guides of Russian lexicographical works and complements the plan with the systematic aspect analysis. She concludes that abstracting is an intellectually intensive process. It is underexplored as far as lexicographical works are concerned, and offers many possibilities for further studies.

AbstractThis article charts the rapid rise in the use of imprisonment in recent decades before considering some of the most pressing issues of concern in the use of imprisonment today. First among these is prison overcrowding, which continues to blight the record of many countries in their treatment of prisoners. To illustrate the potentially dire consequences of overcrowding – a problem common to many other countries and regions – an account is given of a recent visit to a prison in El Salvador. The article then provides an overview of the relevant regional and international standards on the treatment of prisoners, referring also to the role of judicial bodies in ensuring implementation.

Introduction. Currently, the procedure for providing audit services to public interest entities is being reformed. The main goal of these reforms is to provide more effective protection of legally protected values associated with the activities of such economic entities. The changes also apply to the content of audit reports on their financial statements. The process of revising the relevant regulatory document is still ongoing. Not all of the revised provisions are consistent with each other and the International Standards on Auditing. This will complicate their practical application by auditors and affect the informational value and public utility of audit reports. In addition, since 2017, when the modern format for audit reports was adopted, its application has revealed shortcomings in terms of its content and terminology. This explains the need to develop proposals to eliminate these “sticking points” when regulating the content of the auditor's report. Purpose. The development of recommendations to harmonise the provisions of laws and regulations governing the content of audit reports and federal state control (supervision) of the activities of audit organisations providing services to public interest entities with the International Auditing Standards in order to increase the information value of audit reports. Methods. The research results were obtained using analysis, synthesis, analogy, historical and logical approaches, classification, etc. Results. It was proposed to introduce changes to the text of the Federal Law “On Auditing Activities” of 30.12.2008 No. 307-FZ in order to eliminate contradictions in its provisions regarding the content of audit reports, to ensure their consistency with the International Standards on Auditing and laws and regulations in the field of controlling the activities of audit organisations that provide audit services to public interest entities. The content of the requirements of the International Standards on Auditing regarding the content of audit reports was clarified as well as their official translation into Russian to make the documents more informative and easy to use. Conclusions. The proposed clarifications can be taken into account when making changes to the texts of the Federal Law “On Auditing Activities”, the original version of the International Standards on Auditing and its official translation. They can also be further discussed by specialists.

Identification and control of genetic variation of different varieties of agricultural crops enter as prerequisites for their efficient conservation and use. Genetic variation is investigated by means of a wide set of methods, including those relying on molecular-genetic analysis. Every year, dozens of new breedings of grapevine come into being, and their passportization is necessary. Molecular markets can promote selection of parent pairs for crossing, improve efficiency of breeding and accelerate the process as enable both identification of the initial material and analysis of crossing results to be done in a sufficiently short period of time. The highest information value is associated with microsatellite markers consisting of simple sequence repeats (SSR). Analysis of polymorphism of SSR loci allows to investigate genetic variation of agricultural crops at the level of genome. The goals of the study were to conduct genotyping of a number of grape breedings developed by the Institute Magarach, to assess their allelic diversity and to achieve DNA passportization based on SSR analysis. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and fragment analysis of PCR products with the use of a genetic analizer ABI 3130 were the main methods the study relied upon. As a result of the aforesaid analysis, eight new breedings of the Institute were genotyped for nine nuclear microsatellite loci (nSSR). The sizes of alleles were assessed using Gene Mapper v. 4.0 software. Popgene (v. 1.32) software was used to calculate polymorphism of microsatellite loci and genetic diversity. A comparative nSSR-analysis of DNA-profiles of the study varieties indicated that all of them had unique profiles. A total of 69 alleles were identified, with 7.67 alleles per locus on an average. Based on the sizes of the alleles, individual molecular-genetic passports of the varieties were made, in accordance with international standards.

Current trends in the development of Ukrainian banks are associated with the intensification of financial globalization processes. Under the influence of the growing presence of foreign capital, Ukrainian banks have faced increased competition and an exacerbation of the problem of limited financing in the domestic market. In the open national market, banks are forced to look for competitive advantages in order to improve access to financial resources and implement effective long-term partnerships with foreign investors. The creation of quality corporate management under international standards is an important advantage for the investors. The need to increase the level of corporate management according to the best international practices determines the importance of the investigation and substantiation of the areas for improvement based on the analysis of internal factors and conditions of banking business development. Conflict of interest is a major problem of corporate management. The investment community, professional circles, as well as regulatory authorities of the countries pay great attention to the problems of organizing relations of companies and banks with shareholders and other stakeholders. There are some approaches to determining the range of stakeholders. Managers and shareholders are considered in the narrow sense. In the broad sense, the list can include all the possible stakeholders. High quality of corporate management is one of the key conditions for bank efficiency. The interests of the owners are completely consistent with the achievement of high profitability, which is the main criterion of efficiency. In turn, the requirements of creditors to the level of risk on the operations of the credit institution is largely the factor of its sustainability in the long run. The ways of solving problems of corporate governance in banks are proposed in this paper. The theoretical foundations of corporate management in banks are substantiated. The specifics of the organization of relations between the participants of corporate relations in the bank are highlighted. It is noted that many issues related to corporate management in credit institutions lie outside the legal system and are ethical rather than legal.

Abstract This study uses a three-wave prospective longitudinal survey (at 6-month intervals) to test effects of information seeking and scanning on attitudes toward marijuana among college students in Israel (N = 700). We integrate constructs from the elaboration likelihood model to contrast processes of attitude change among individuals who vary in moderators of information processing depth (motivation and ability). In addition, we test whether trust in the information source moderates these processes, and use propensity score matching to reduce bias. Results of autoregressive cross-lagged structural equation models show that scanning from interpersonal sources predicted attitudes toward marijuana among individuals who were low in elaboration motivation or ability. Seeking and scanning information about marijuana from interpersonal sources were positively associated with attitudes toward marijuana among individuals higher in elaboration motivation and ability, who had greater trust in the source. Implications for information processing models, seeking and scanning, and campaigns are discussed.
