The authors examine the libraries’ independent calculations and analysis of alternative metrics to determine user-defined relevancy of publications. Logfiles collected by web-servers at users’ accessing e-catalogs may be used for such calculations and analysis. The almetrics’ key advantages as compared to traditional bibliometrics and webometrics are: real-time representation; openness and transparency; coverage of wider non-academic audience; coverage of various sources and research findings. The web-server log-files enable to analyze number of user views of bibliographic records in e-catalog, to rate authors, individual publications and topical queries for a time period. In case of links to full texts, the number of pdf. documents loaded by users and n umber of p ages viewed ( when library computer-based system supports full-text document scrolling mode) may be defined. The authors also discuss specificity of handling log-files for various analysis types: statistical, content addressable, defining sequential sets, clustering. The functionality and table structure of RNPLST’s software module for advanced bibliometric analysis is described. The further task of the study will be to define trends of user behavior and forecasts for user group behavior when using e-catalog.The article is prepared within the framework of the State Order to Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology “Development and improvement of the system of Open Archive of integrated information and library resources of Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology as modern knowledge management system in digital environment: on the way to Open Science” № 075-01300-20-00 for 2020–2022.

In 2007, Google introduced its Google Trends service to assess statistically users queries. However, despite some success in using Google Trends data for forecasting, most researchers think that without them they can obtain approximately similar results based on other models. Nevertheless, other researcher have been still exploring forecast functionality of the service. The authors analyze Google Trends’ estimates of queries in ecology. Their goal is reveal general trends and contradictions and to analyze RNPLS&T resources’ meeting global trends in ecology and sustainable development information.Google Trends data is about similar to the current user activity idicators for the Library’s e-catalog and do not allow forecasting rise of or decrease in user demands. Google Trends enables to make some, rather approximate estimations of thematic information flow. Therefore it may be used by librarians as a source to evaluate interest users are expected to take in ecological information when the Library is planning for events or collection development. Further research is needed for advanced service application in user demand forecasting. The paper is prepared within the framework of the State Order № 075- 01300-20-00 “Development and improvement of the system of Open Archive of integrated information and library resources of Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology as modern knowledge management system in digital environment: On the way to Open Science” for 2020–2022.

The authors examine the principles and technologies of RNPLS&T’s Open Archive development. Special attention is given to the urgency of the task under the circumstances of digitalization. The main goal is seen as building the Single Open Archive of Information (SOAI) of the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology that is to accumulate every digital full-text resources designed or acquired legally by the Library. The key principles of SOAI as an integrated information system are specified. The functionalities and protocol table structure for RNPLS&T’s SOAI soft- and hardware are discussed. The projected functional structure of the archive is described and explained. Possible software and hardware solutions for SOAI application and metadata server are discussed along with the interaction with large related information systems like the National Electronic Library (NEL). The system implementation will become the next important stage in building the typical model of e-library as a player in the open archive system. This is to facilitate the technology of data exchange in library information systems, units of science information within research organizations, universities, general educational institutions, and to support information retrieval via the single access point at web-portals. The article is prepared within the framework of the State Order № 075-01300-20-00 “Design and development of RNPLS&T’s Open Archive of Integrated Information Library Resources as a modern system of knowledge management within the digital environment: On the way to Open Science” for the years 2020–2022.

If we are talking about user behavior analytics, we have to understand what the main source of valuable information is. One of these sources is definitely a web server. There are multiple places where we can extract the necessary data. The most common ways are to search for these data in access log, error log, custom log files of web server, proxy server log file, web browser log, browser cookies etc. A web server log is in its default form known as a Common Log File (W3C, 1995) and keeps information about IP address; date and time of visit; ac-cessed and referenced resource. There are standardized methodologies which contain several steps leading to extract new knowledge from provided data. Usu-ally, the first step is in each one of them to identify users, users’ sessions, page views, and clickstreams. This process is called pre-processing. Main goal of this stage is to receive unprocessed web server log file as input and after processing outputs meaningful representations which can be used in next phase. In this pa-per, we describe in detail user session identification which can be considered as most important part of data pre-processing. Our paper aims to compare the us-er/session identification using the STT with the identification of user/session us-ing cookies. This comparison was performed concerning the quality of the se-quential rules generated, i.e., a comparison was made regarding generation useful, trivial and inexplicable rules.

Technoethics is a new, but rapidly developing field of ethical reflection of technoscience. It can claim to unite the various ethical projections of the science and technology development in a common approach. One of the starting points of understanding this role of technoethics may be NBIC-convergence. The ethical dimensions of the NBIC-projects is represented in these sub-areas of applied ethics as a nanoethics, bioethics, neuroethics and ICT ethics. In this article particular attention is paid to the biomedical field, which is a prime example of innovative high technology, as well as the interaction of different types of ethics.
