Background: Patients presenting with BIMC are relatively rare and the aim of the Orthodontist is to create a dentition that is functionally and aesthetically acceptable. The BIMC may result in altered facial appearance with malocclusion and psychological distress in some individuals. Case presentation: The present case report describes a 17-year-old female patient with nonsyndromic, BIMC. Clinical and CBCT examinations revealed BIMC. Following open surgical exposure treatment planning, the patient was treated with orthodontic fixed mechanotherapy to correct BIMC and other problems. Slow force mechanics with passive self-ligating MBT 0.022 orthodontic braces were used. Results: Open surgical exposure and active orthodontic treatment was completed in 18 months. The management of BIMC requires multidisciplinary approach to achieve better aesthetics and improved occlusal function. Conclusion: A combined Open Surgical Exposure-Orthodontic Traction-Orthodontic treatment would help achieve desired aesthetics and functioning occlusion. Dental agenesis is the most common developmental anomaly in humans and is frequently associated with several other oral abnormalities. In the literature, some terms are used to describe missing teeth like oligodontia, anodontia and hypodontia. Hypodontia is the developmental absence of one or more teeth. It can be isolated or as a part of a syndrome such as in ectodermal dysplasia. The consequences of missing teeth include abnormal occlusion or altered facial appearance which can cause psychological distress in some patients. The present case report describes case of familial hypodontia in 14 years female patient with no apparent systemic abnormalities.Birat Journal of Health Sciences 2016 1(1): 71-74

ABSTRACT Anophthalmia (The loss an eye) not only impairs patient's vision but also create a noticeable deformity on facial appearance and esthetics. The condition is a psychological distress for the patient interrupting his routine work. 'sarvendriyanam nayanam pradhanum’ states vision to be the supreme among all the senses. A prosthodontist as an integral member of the craniofacial rehabilitation team can help raise the spirits and ease the mind of the affected. Among various approaches, customized ocular prosthesis achieves better comfort and function between prosthesis and orbital tissues. This is a case report of a female patient of age 22 years had lost her eye as a child due to trauma and the above mentioned prosthesis was planned and fabricated to enhance appearance and boost her confidence. Getting eyesight back is not always possible, but maxillofacial prosthetics can help to reduce the pain of psychological embarrassment. Artistic skills are needed in providing a natural look to the prosthesis; this technique may help in a naturally appearing prosthesis with lesser artistic skills. The purpose of this article was to present a case report of 11–year old female patient with a large osteolytic mandibular lesion which healed after endodontic treatment. The patient was referred for radio diagnostics due to an incidental finding of a large osteolytic lesion of the area of the left lower first and second premolars in the panoramic radiograph taken before orthodontic treatment. CBCT was performed and the patient asked to have teeth 33-35 treated by endodontics before surgery. The patient missed the surgical appointment and when she reappeared several months later, the lesion showed signs of healing thus surgery were aborted. The presented case testifies to the observation that even large osteolytic lesions can heal after endodontic treatment without surgical approach.

Abstract Background: Permethrin (PER) is widely employed as the most frequently used type I synthetic pyrethroid insecticide. Despite its worldwide application, reports of pediatric toxicity following permethrin administration are scarce.Case presentation: The present case report involves a 12-year-old Afghan girl, with no previous medical problems, who drank an unknown insecticide covertly at home. Two hours after ingestion, she was taken to the emergency room with neither breathing signs nor a heartbeat. She was immediately transferred to the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) room, and her spontaneous circulation was returned after a few minutes of CPR. She was then intubated, volume resuscitated with intravenous normal saline, and connected to the mechanical ventilator after being transferred to the ICU ward. The patient remained comatose without spontaneous breathing, her pupils became bilateral mydriasis, and central diabetes insipidus became evident after three days due to apnea and hypoxic brain damage following insecticide ingestion. The chemical analysis of the insecticide bottle showed 10% permethrin without organophosphates, as initially expected. Unfortunately, after seven days, the patient passed away due to resistant hypotension and severe brain damage. Conclusion: Permethrin is widely used globally as an insecticide. However, there are many unmet needs in permethrin toxicity treatment, and the treatment is mainly supportive. Depending on the amount and dose of permethrin, the most common symptoms can vary from headache, dyspnea, and vomiting to metabolic acidosis and cardiac and respiratory arrest, which can lead to hypoxic brain damage and death, as was the outcome in our case.

Background: A unique clinical challenge presents when dealing with a compromised first permanent molars with bilateral posterior crossbite, severe crowding and impacted maxillary canines with skeletal class II base malocclusion patient. Case presentation: 14-year-old female patient had dental Class II skeletally, complicated with increase overjet, badly destructed permanent mandibular 1st molars constricted maxillary arch. Extraction of 1st molars followed by expansion have been planned to relieve crowding. Extraction of 1st molars in this time (furcation of 3rd molars start to develop) help in replacement by 2nd molars. In the progression of treatment, Conclusion: A well-balanced and esthetic occlusion by edge wise orthodontic treatment has been archived in this case. Background: Enlightening facial esthetic is reflecting as one of the main influences in orthodontic treatment during establishing of ideal occlusion.Method: In present study, a determination was made to subsidize to the existing pool of information on the soft-tissue profile and facial awareness. Main aim of the study is to investigate how the Bangladeshi laypersons are aware of their own faces by analyzing the data collected through a structured questionnaire.Result: This study involved total 200 Bangladeshi Individuals age ranged 19 to 23 years old. A validated structured questionnaire was used to assess subjects’ evaluation of their own facial appearance. The mean awareness score for the subjects of Bangladeshi individuals ranged from 1.4 to 2.3 in male and from 1.7 to 1.9 in female for the overall impressions and from 1.3 to 2.1 in male and from 1.2 to 2.3 in female for the facial parts. Satisfaction score for the 9 items out of 24 items differed significantly between Bangladeshi female and male. An average profile of the jaw and lips are desired over more retrusive or protrusive profiles among Bangladeshi laypersons. Conclusion: It can be determined that Bangladeshi laypersons are adept to understand their own faces in the various commands and most of the peoples are worry about their profile in their everyday survives. We must evaluate our existing data to find orthodontic standards that are valid for specific ethnic groups.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.17(4) 2018 p.638-643

Abstract Background: Subhepatic appendicitis is an exceedingly rare presentation accounting for 0.01% of Acute appendicitis. It is of prime importance to be aware of various variants and thereby managing such challenging cases accordingly.Case presentation: We present a middle-aged female patient with subhepatic perforated appendicitis and peritonitis who underwent an exploratory laparotomy and appendectomy. Conclusions: Surgical management of such patients is challenging due to an atypical presentation. The surgical management of such patients is discussed with a brief review of literature.
