There have been a number of new research published with different methodologies and frameworks in recent years, aimed at improving city resilience to a variety of man-made and natural calamities. As climate change progresses, resilience will become a more important topic in scientific and policy circles that influence future urban development. This review article first provides the definition of resilience. Then it represents some of the adopted methodologies in an extensive way. Approaches including Baseline Resilience Indicators for Communities (BRIC), Climate Disaster Resilience Index (CDRI), Disaster resilience index based on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Composite indicator based approach, Hyogo Framework and so on. This section discusses about urban resiliency assessments to mitigate vulnerability, offer a set of principles and indicators for creating an urban resilience assessment tool. Findings of this study not only address a variety of qualitative and quantitative aspects of urban resilience but also describes about different indicators such as environmental resources, socio-economic and built environment, infrastructure, governance and institutional indicators. The COVID-19 pandemic has put healthcare waste management (HCWM) systems under pressure worldwide. In Brazil, where municipalities routinely experience challenges in ensuring suitable disposal of healthcare waste (HCW), the pandemic has made this even more challenging. Therefore, the creation of tools and methods to help in municipal HCWM during the COVID-19 pandemic is of utmost importance. This article presents the development of a tool to evaluate HCWM in Brazilian municipalities during the pandemic. Following guidelines of health agencies, 56 indicators and 18 criteria were selected to create a tool called the municipal healthcare waste management assessment index (iMHWaste). These indicators and criteria were divided into operational, environmental, political–economic, educational and social groups. Each group considers essential aspects for sustainable management, safety and reduced spread of coronavirus. The analytic hierarchy process was used to assign the weights attributed to the groups and criteria. The indicators can be measured according to a standardized rating scale proposed for each one. These elements were aggregated with a weighted linear combination, into an equation that allows the calculation of the iMHWaste. The index is rated on a scale of 0–1. The index was applied in a Brazilian municipality considering a pre-pandemic HCWM. With the identification of the municipality’s management weaknesses, it was possible to identify the main actions that should be prioritized in the transition from traditional HCWM during the pandemic.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method presented in this paper is used to analyze three representative exterior wall assemblies from the perspective of manufacturers, designers, and consumers. Considering technical, economic, social, and environmental factors, a model and subsequent indicators were developed for qualitative and quantitative analyses. The approach discussed in this paper originated as a response to recent building code changes in China, and the need for value-engineers to better understand a set of newly developed wall construction assemblies in a way that minimizes subjective errors in the value-engineering evaluation process.

The objective of this research is to contribute to the scientific debate on “complementary monetary systems” (CMSs), what strategies may be the best for allowing the implementation of a CMS in a territory and that optimise the potential that it seems to have to strengthen processes of sustainable local development and urban resilience. For this, the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats-Analytic Hierarchy Process methodology (SWOT-AHP) has been used, which has allowed us to identify four strategies: (1) build a social, economic and political consensus, (2) create a community observatory for “complementary social monetary systems” (CSMSs), (3) define communication tools for raising awareness and education in ethical finance and (4) promote the alignment of the CSMS with sustainable local development strategies. These strategies have been formulated so that that they can be implemented by any entity, public or private, and for any of the types of CMS that may be part of a CSMS.

In this paper, the definition of additive consistent intuitionistic fuzzy complementary judgement matrix (ACIFCJM) was given; The addition and subtraction algorithms of intuitionistic fuzzy value representing the relative importance degree in the matrix were given, then the definition of the scale transition matrix of intuitionistic fuzzy complementary judgement matrix (IFCJM) was given; The additive consistency recursive iterative adjustment algorithm about the IFCJM was given, then priority vectors formula of IFCJM was introduced; At last, the steps of intuitionistic fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (IFAHP) were introduced, then the method was applied in actual examples, and its effectiveness was verified.

One objective of the project was to determine compare two analytic algorithms for converting judgment matrices into subjective workload ratings. The original eigenvector algorithm used in Saaty's Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was compared an algorithm of calculating geometric means. Also, three methods of identifying excessively inconsistent matrices were compared. Data from nine previous experiments were re-examined in the present analysis. There were no differences between the AHP ratings and the geometric mean ratings in terms of their sensitivity to the experimental manipulations. However, two of the inconsistency measures were successfully used to cull the data-sets of inconsistent matrices and improved the statistical sensitivity of one set of ratings. These findings suggest that: (1) the computationally simpler geometric means algorithm can be used as an alternative to the eigenvector algorithm, and (2) culling inconsistent matrices can sometimes improve rating sensitivity. These findings, along with previous research, demonstrate that judgment matrices can be a very valuable workload assessment tool. The essential steps for the proper use of judgment matrices in workload assessment are reviewed. A user's guide and software are also being prepared to aid researchers and practitioners

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the widely accepted and frequently used priority assessment methods. A number of studies, which employed the AHP method, have already been carried out in different domains to support their multi-criteria decision-making definitions and applications. However, few researchers have paid attentions to extract and represent the important concepts and their relationships from the AHP method itself. The aim of this study is firstly to propose a way for representing the AHP method as an AHP Ontology together with a set of reasoning rules. Then, a prototype assessment tool is developed to show the possibility of obtaining more flexibility and reusability of this ontological representation.
