The problem of breast cancer and the impact it has created will require public health interventions in the form of a national countermeasure program regulated in Permenkes No. 34 of 2015 concerning Management of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer. One of the prevention of breast cancer is case finding with early detection which is done through Breast Self-Examination (BSE) which can be done easily which aims to determine the presence or absence of a lump that can develop into breast cancer. One of the prevention of breast cancer is case finding with early detection which is done through Breast Self-Examination (BSE) which can be done easily which aims to determine the presence or absence of a lump that can develop into breast cancer.  The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge, and change behavior about early detection of breast cancer through Breast Self-Examination (BSE) in Cipayung Village, Depok City. The target audience for this service is the Health Officers and Cadres in the Puskesmas, and especially the mothers in Cipayung Village. The method of implementation of this community service includes the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages. In the preparation stage it was shown that all participants had never received education about BSE before, even 95% of the 32 participants had just heard about BSE. Low initial knowledge can be seen from the results of pre-tests conducted in which the majority of mothers' level of knowledge is still low about breast self-examination and breast cancer after education and training there is an increase in maternal knowledge about breast self-examination. It is recommended that health workers regularly provide education about breast self-awareness to women, especially mothers.

The article is devoted to breast cancer, a common cancer among women around the world. The level of awareness of applicants and employees of the Kharkov State Academy of Physical Culture regarding risk factors and clinical features of breast cancer, as well as self-examination procedures was analyzed. It has been proven that the formation of a culture of prevention of breast cancer through self-observation and self-examination of young Ukrainian women can save human lives, since raising public awareness and gaining practical knowledge will certainly change the fate of many people.

Introduction Breast self-examination (BSE) is a self-generated, non-invasive and non-irradiative method of breast cancer detection. Self examination of the breasts each month after the menstrual cycle is the simplest yet extremely important way to detect early breast cancer. It has been observed that women can detect 95% of breast cancers and 65% of early minimal breast cancers themselves. This method is harmless, less time consuming and can be performed by any woman. Objective To assess the effectiveness of educational intervention programme regarding Breast Self Examination among girl students of study school.Methodology Pre experimental one group pre-test post-test design was adopted for this study. In total, 61 girls were included. The result were analysed by using both descriptive as well as inferential statistics. Results In pre-test 75.4% had inadequate and only 1.6% had adequate knowledge regarding Breast Self Examination, in contrast, after the intervention the adequate knowledge was increased to 62.3%. The overall mean score was increased from 33.07% to 85.14%. The test of significance revealed that the increment in BSE knowledge score due to program intervention was highly significant (P< 0.001).Conclusion The educational intervention programme on BSE was found to be highly effective as the knowledge score was significantly increased after intervention of the package among higher secondary school girls.Birat Journal of Health Sciences 2016 1(1): 13-19

Fifty women with a history of breast lumps, and fifty control women matched for age and educational level, were administered a self-report questionnaire to determine knowledge of breast cancer, frequency and proficiency of breast self-examination (BSE), and health beliefs relating to BSE. Although women with previous breast lumps were more knowledgeable about breast cancer than those without, the two groups did not differ in attitudes or preventive behaviours. Overall knowledge of cancer and of BSE practice was low. This suggests a need for educational campaigns to increase knowledge and awareness, as a first step towards behaviour change, and a need for research to identify more effective predictors of BSE practice.
