The experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of rhizobium inoculum and phosphorus fertilization on nodulation, growth, and yield of soyabean cv. Binasoybean-2 at the area of Chamberkella, East Subarnachar Upazila, Noakhali, Bangladesh, from mid-January to first week of May 2018. Four levels of Rhizobium inoculation viz: 0, 25, 50 and 75 g kg-1 and four levels of phosphorus viz: 0, 18, 36 and 54 kg P ha-1 were applied. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The effect of interaction of different combinations of Rhizobium inoculation and phosphorus rates showed regular trend, although their effects on some of studied growth, and yield parameters were insignificant but most of the growth and yield parameters were significant. Among sixteen treatment combinations the highest grain yield (2.217 t ha-1) was obtained from the treatment combination of 50 g kg-1 Rhizobium inoculation and 36 kg ha-1 phosphorus which was statistically identical with 50 g kg-1 Rhizobium inoculation with 18 kg ha-1, the lowest yield (1.367 t ha-1) was recorded with control treatment. Abstract An experiment was conducted in the field of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Mosul, Iraq during the season 2019-2020 to study the effect of three types of compound mineral fertilizers (F1, F2 and F3) and four levels combination of fertilizers (F4, F5, F6 and F7) also with control treatment (F0) on some growth and yield parameters of cabbage plants Chairman variety, thus the experiment included eight treatments implemented in Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D) with three replications. The results were summarized as follows: the F5 fertilizer combination achieved the highest significant values in all growth and yield parameters compared to other treatment.

An experiment was carried out at the Horticulture Farm of the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during  the period from November 2010 to January 2011 to study the effects of cowdung and potassium on growth and yield  of Kohlrabi. The experiment consisted of three levels of cowdung (0, 20 and 40 t/ha) and four levels of potassium (0,  20, 50, 80 kg /ha). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. All the  parameters were significantly influenced by application of cowdung and potassium. The highest plant height (44.65  cm), number of leaves per plant (12.11), length of largest leaf (37.54 cm), and breadth of largest leaf (18.66 cm) were  obtained from the highest dose of cowdung and potassium applied (40 t cowdung + 80 kg K/ha) while the lowest  plant height (33.64 cm), number of leaves (9.01), length of largest leaf (27.94 cm), and breadth of largest leaf (11.00  cm) were obtained from control treatment combination. The highest fresh weight of leaves (49.33 g), fresh weight of  knob (328.66 g) and fresh weight of roots (66.55 g) per plant were also recorded under the treatment combination of  40 t cowdung + 80 kg K/ha, while the lowest fresh weight of leaves (22.11 g), fresh weight of knob (136.00 g) and  fresh weight of roots (23.33 g) were obtained from control treatment combination. Similarly, the dry weight of leaves  (19.34%), knob (15.19%) and roots (32.75%) were highest under the same treatment combination of 40 t cowdung +  80 kg K/ha and the lowest dry weight of leaves (11.71%), dry weight of knob (7.38%) and dry weight of roots  (15.29%) were obtained from control treatment combination C0K0. The marketable yields of knob per plot (7.86 kg)  and per hectare (39.58 tons) were also the highest under the treatment combination 40 t cowdung/ha and 80 kg  potassium per hectare.   DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jbau.v10i1.12035   J. A field research was conducted at the Horticultural Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207 during the period from October 2017 to March 2018 to study the effect of vermicompost and earthing upon growth and yield of onion. The experiment consists of two factors. Factor-A Vermicompost V0 (control), V1 (6 t ha-1 vermicompost), V2 (10 t ha-1 vermicompost) and V3 (14 t ha-1 vermicompost) and Factor-B Earthing up E0 (control), E1 (Two times earthing up) and E2 (Three times earthing up). The experiment was laid out in RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with three replications. The collected data were statistically analyzed. Results revealed that in terms of vermicompost application The highest fresh weight bulb-1 (40.07 g), yield plot-1 (527.89 g) and yield ha-1 (5.39 t) were found from the treatment V3 compared to V0 (control) treatment. Again, in terms of different earthing up treatments, the highest fresh weight bulb-1 (32.48 g), yield plot-1 (431.67 g) and yield ha-1 (4.41 t) were found from the treatment E2 (Three times earthing up) compared to E0 (control) treatment. Both vermicompost and earthing up and their combination showed a considerable variation on different growth and yield parameters of onion. The highest fresh weight bulb-1 (42.73 g), yield plot-1 (567.33 g) and yield ha-1 (5.79 t) were found from the treatment combination of V3E2 compared to control V0E0 (control) treatment combination. And it may be summarized that 14 t/ha vermicompost with three times earthing up performed the maximum yield compared to other treatments.

The field experiment was carried out during the period from July to November, 2013 at the research farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh to investigate the influence of nitrogen and phosphorus on the growth and yield of BRRI dhan57. The two factorial experiments were laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Four levels of nitrogen N0: 0 kg N ha-1, N1: 90 kg N ha-1, N2: 120 kg N ha-1, N3: 150 kg N ha-1 and three levels of phosphorous P0: 0 kg P2O5 ha-1, P1: 25 kg P2O5 ha-1 and P2: 35 kg P2O5 ha-1 were used in this experiment. Data revealed that at 30 and 60 days after transplanting (DAT) and at the time of harvest the tallest plants were observed in the treatments N2 (120 kg N ha-1), P2 (35 kg P ha-1) and treatment combination N2P2 (120 kg N and 35 kg P ha-1) whereas, the treatments N0, P0 and treatment combination N0P0 (without N and P) showed the smallest plant height in each case, respectively. Side by side, N2,P2 treatments and N2P2 treatment combination gave the maximum effective tillers hill-1, highest length of panicle and the maximum filled grains panicle-1. The highest 1000 grain weight (20.85 g), grain yield (4.95 t ha-1), straw yield (5.39 t ha-1) and biological yield (10.34 t ha-1) were found in the treatment combination N2P2 and also found highest in each individual under N2 and P2 treatments.

The experiment was conducted for two consecutive rabi seasons of 2005-06 and 2006-07 at the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), BARI, Jamalpur to find out an optimum dose of sulphur for yield maximization of garlic cv. Jamalpur local. There were six levels of sulphur viz., 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, and 75 kg/ha. A control treatment was in the experiment. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The fertilizer package N150P60K120Zn4 B1 kg/ha was applied to each plot as blanket dose.  Results revealed that most of the growth and yield parameters increased progressively with increasing rate of sulphur application. Bulb yield increased with successive increase in the level of sulphur up to 45 kg/ha and thereafter decreased. The highest bulb yield (7.05 t/ha in 2005-06 and 7.22 t/ha in 2006- 07) was achieved at 45 kg S/ha and the control treatment receiving no fertilizer had the lowest yield (3.21 t/ha in 2005-06 in and 3.26 t/ha in 2006-07). The yield benefit for 45 kg sulphur per hawas 34.2% in 2005-06 and 40.0% in 2006-07 over no sulphur. Sulphur at 45 kg/ha produced 54.5% and 54.9% higher yield over control treatment in both the years. Abstract In hot and arid regions, drought stress is considered as one of the main reasons for yield reduction. To study the effect of drought stress, iron spray on the yield and yield components of corn, an experiment was carried out during the crop seasons of 2013 on research Farm in Faizabad of Iran, as a split plot within randomized complete block design with three replications. The main plots with irrigation factor and four levels were considered: level A) 50 ml evaporation from pan evaporation; level B) 100 ml evaporation from pan evaporation; level C) 150 ml evaporation from pan evaporation and level D) 200 ml evaporation from pan evaporation. Sub plots were considered with iron spray in three levels, included level A) 80 g/ha, level B) 130 g/ha and level C) 180 g/ha. The drought stress reduced seed yield, the 1000-kernels weight (TKW), the number of seeds per ear, the number of seeds per row in ear, the number of rows per ear about 39%, 6%, 31%, 14% and 27% less than control treatment, respectively. Using iron, as compared with control treatment, causes the increase of 1000-kernels weight from 295 to 311 g and the increase of seed yield from 5188 to 7078. The results obtained from the present research showed that iron spray has fairly improved the effects caused by drought stress.

An experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during the period from March 2017 to June 2017 with a view to evaluate the effect of different types of fertilizer and netting on the growth and yield of okra. The experiment consisted of 4 levels of fertilizer following cow dung 15 t/ha (F1), inorganic fertilizer (NPK) (F2), combined application of cow dung (2/3) + inorganic fertilizer (1/3) (F3), control (F4) and 2 levels of mosquito netting (N0 = control with no netting, N1=blue colour Netting). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. Overall, the growth like plant height, leaf length, pod length, pod diameter and pods numbers of okra was found higher from the combined effect of F3N1 which was significantly different from other treatments combination. The lowest growth and yield of okra was found from the treatment combination of F4N0 (control). First flowering were observed in F3N1 at 39 days after planting of okra seeds. The control treatment without net gave the lowest production of okra compared to combination of inorganic fertilizer and cow dung with netting.  In case of fertilizers effect, the highest yield (16.06 t/ha) was found from F3.  Blue colour net gave the highest yield (10.99 t/ha) compared to without net (8.88 t/ha). The highest yield of okra (17.55 t/ha) was found from the combined effect of F3N1 which was 78.52% higher compared to control treatment combination F4N0 (3.77 t/ha). A field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of the Department of Horticulture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh to investigatethe effect of mulching and plant spacing on the growth and yield of French bean during the period from November 2014 to January 2015. The experiment consisted of three types of mulchingnamely (i) control (without mulch), (ii) water hyacinth and (iii) black ploythene much and three levels of spacing viz., (i) 30 cm x 25 cm (ii) 30 cm x 20 cm and (iii) 30 cm x 15 cm. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. Results showed that both mulching and plant spacing significantly influenced the growth and yield components of French bean. Black polythene mulch produced the highest yield (5.82 t/ha) and the lowest yield (4.92 t/ha) was recorded fromno mulch treatment. The maximum yield (6.22 t/ha) was obtained from 30 cm x 15 cm plant spacing and the lowest (4.58 t/ha) was obtained with 30 cm x 25 cm plant spacing. The combined effects of mulching and plant spacing were statistically significant. The combination of black polythene mulch with 30 cm x 15 cm spacing gave the highest yield (6.97 t/ha) and the lowest yield (3.94 t/ha) was received from without mulching at spacing of 30 cm x 25 cm treatment combination. Considering the above findings the black polythene mulch with 30 x 15 cm plant spacing  may be recommendfor French bean cultivation.Progressive Agriculture 26 (2): 129-135, 2015

A field experiment was carried out on a farmer’s field at Kannitamilnadu village in Cuddalore district, Tamilnadu during 2018 to find out the suitable organic inputs and pattern of mulching for better growth and yield of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffavar. sabdariffa). The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with five levels of organic manures and four levels of mulching with three replication.. Best of the interaction effect was due to the combined application of 25 t FYM + 3 t poultry manure ha-1+ plastic mulch (M3S2) which recorded the highest values for all growth and yield parameters viz., plant height (228.3 cm), number of branches (14.5), leaf area (308.9 cm2), number of calcyes/plant (33.5), calyx yield/plant (233.9 g) and calyx yield/ha (6568.75 kg). The lowest values of these parameters were recorded under control (no organics and no mulching) treatment

The use of cover crops is a way of sustainable agriculture in which nutrients are recycled and the use of inorganic fertilizer is reduced. Leguminous cover crops for instance are known to enrich the soil through the fixing of nitrogen in the form of nitrates in the soil for plant use. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of some leguminous cover crops on growth and yield of garden eggs. The study consisted of five treatments, namely Bare ground (control), fertilizer (NPK 15:15:15), Mucuna pruriens, Glycine max and Phaseolus lunatus laid in a randomized complete block design with 3 replicates. Data collected were on vegetative growth and yield parameters. Results showed that plant height of garden eggs was highest in Phaseolus treated plots and this was followed by the Glycine max plots. Phaseolus treated plots had the highest yield in terms of the number of fruits harvested and weight of fruits harvested.
