The present fifth part of the series includes 27 new chorological records of vascular plants, seven from Czechia (Asperugo procumbens, Eragrostis pilosa, Malva pusilla, Pseudofumaria lutea, Verbascum blattaria, V. speciosum, Vulpia myuros); Geranium macrorrhizum from Hungary; Bromus secalinus and Erucastrum gallicum from Poland and three taxa from Romania (Sonchus palustris, Ranunculus ophioglossifolius and alien Xanthium spinosum). In Slovakia twelve native species (Cladium mariscus, Gentiana pneumonanthe, Gnaphalium luteoalbum, Juncus subnodulosus, Lindernia procumbens, Origanum vulgare subsp. prismaticum, Sonchus palustris, Taraxacum bessarabicum, T. cristatum, T. paludem-ornans and T. parnassicum) and two alien (Brachyactis ciliata and Datura innoxia) were found. Distribution map of critically endangered species Typha shuttleworthii and Taraxacum paludem-ornans with new localities in Slovakia are presented.

The presented seventh part of the series includes ten new chorological records of vascular plants, two from Hungary, one from Poland and seven from Slovakia. In Hungary, locally introduced species Catalpa ovata spreading by seeds and the first occurrence of Carex depressa subsp. transsilvanica out of n the Zemplén Mts. was recorded. In Poland, the fifth record of Salvinia natans in the area of Kraków was found. In Slovakia, localities of four native species, Pilosella densiflora, P. leptophyton, Taraxacum bavaricum and Trifolium sarosiense were found as well as three alien species Phytolacca esculenta, Sorbus intermedia and the first record of garden escape of Euphorbia myrsinites. Distribution map of Taraxacum bavaricum in Slovakia is also presented.

Pternopetalum paucifoliolatum, a new species from Sixigou Scenic Area, Emeishan City, Sichuan Province, is proposed and described. Diagnostic morphological characters, full description, detailed illustrations, and a distribution map are provided. The new species is similar to P. porphyronotum in possessing the 1-pinnate leaves and the abaxially purple-red leaflets, but differs from the latter by shorter stature, fewer leaflets ((1–) 3–7) and rays (5–8), the leaflet margin white-ciliate. The new species, which is assessed as Critically Endangered (CR), was only found on limestone cliffs. We also provide a new key to the species of Pternopetalum.

Eithealagopaivae Campos-Rocha & Dutilh, sp. nov. is described as the second species of the formerly monotypic genus Eithea. It is characterized by a one flowered inflorescence, completely hollow scape, white or lightly magenta-striated flower that is enclosed by spathe bracts fused for more than the lower fifth of its length. Comments on its range, habitat, phenology, as well as photographs and illustrations are provided. In addition, a distribution map and an identification key for the two species of the genus are presented and anatomical and ecological differences compared. Known by only two small populations exposed to several types of threats and without any guarantee of protection, E.lagopaivae is considered a Critically Endangered (CR) species.

We describe and illustrate Paepalanthus capixaba, a new species of Paepalanthus ser. Paepalanthus. The species is endemic to Espírito Santo state and restricted to a very distinct and endangered area, which comprises a mosaic of quartzitic sandy patches within a granitic argillaceous site. The indument of leaves, spathes, and scapes is crucial to recognize the taxon as a unique entity. The species is compared to Paepalanthus klotzschianus, the morphologically most similar species. An official conservation status of critically endangered species was assessed by the Centro Nacional de Conservação da Flora committee. Comments on the occurrence area and the morphological variation of the species, as well as a distribution map, photos, and illustrations are provided.

This study serves as the first generation research on the rich yet not poorly known ferns and lycophyte species of the Mount Timolan Protected Landscape (MTPL). A total of 151 species from 62 genera and 24 families were recorded from December 2019-May 2019. Overall, the species of MTPL respectively holds 14%, 40% and 71% of the recorded total species, genera and families of ferns and lycophytes in the Philippines. The most represented families in terms of the number of genera is Polypodiaceae (10 spp.), whereas, the most represented genera in terms of the number of species were Selaginella (11 spp.). The results of the study showed that Mount Timolan Protected Landscape harbours number of some endemic species (17 spp.), critically endangered species (1 spp.), endangered species (3 spp.), vulnerable species (5 spp.), threatened, non-native species and economically important species (25 spp.). Based on conservation and ecological status of assessed ferns and lycophyte species, it is likely to strongly suggest to set species-specific conservation management strategy to protect the threatened species. However, additional studies and thorough field explorations should also be done to conduct a re-inventory on the pteridophyte species in order to arrive a more scientific results to establish a real profile of the ferns and lycophyte species of Mount Timolan Protected Landscape.

Abstract Viola stagnina Kit. is a species regarded as a river corridor plant because of its confinement to river valleys in Central Europe. It is a component of alluvial meadows with natural flooding regime (Cnidion dubii alliance). V. stagnina is rare and red-listed in some European countries. Seven new localities of V. stagnina, its distribution map in Poland and information about possible methods of protecting the species are presented.

The presented eighth part of the series includes thirteen new chorological records of vascular plants, one from Hungary, six from Poland and six from Slovakia. In Hungary, Ventenata dubia is reported. In Poland, two native taxa Bolboschoenus planiculmis and Najas marina subsp. marina and four alien taxa Buddleja davidii, Lupinus ehrenbergii var. ehrenbergii, Miscanthus sacchariflorus and Sedum sarmentosum are reported. In Slovakia, two native taxa Taraxacum paucilobum with distribution map and Cotoneaster integerrimus are reported as well as four alien taxa Azolla filiculoides, Eichhornia crassipes, Euphorbia prostrata and Pistia stratioites.

SummaryThe Minas Gerais Tyrannulet Phylloscartes roquettei is currently classified as a Critically Endangered species, and is one of the most poorly known Neotropical birds. Here we report seven new localities for the species in the São Francisco river basin, raising to 17 the number of localities where this species is known to occur. The range of this species was estimated at 33,500 km2, covering a wider habitat spectrum than previously thought, including, in addition to dry forests, riparian and semi-deciduous forests. We believe this species is overlooked because its voice is generally unknown and available plates in field guides are inaccurate.ResumoO cara-dourada Phylloscartes roquettei é atualmente classificado como Criticamente Ameaçado, sendo uma das espécies de aves Neotropicais menos conhecidas. Neste trabalho são apresentadas sete novas localidades de ocorrência da espécie para a bacia do Rio São Francisco, elevando para 17 o número de localidades onde ela é conhecida. A área de ocorrência desta espécie foi estimada em 33,500 km2, ocupando uma gama de hábitats mais ampla do que o suposto anteriormente, incluindo, além das florestas secas, as florestas ciliares e semidecíduas. Acredita-se que esta espécie esteja passando despercebida devido ao desconhecimento de sua voz e à imprecisão das pranchas nos guias de campo disponíveis.

The distribution of Sonchus palustris in Slovakia was studied using herbarium specimens and literary sources. The herbarium studies, supplemented with targeted field search in the years 2015–2018, revealed 61 new localities and confirmed many other older locations. The species has been recorded in 19 phytogeographical districts and sub-districts of Slovakia. Most of the records are concentrated in the Podunajská nížina lowland in SW Slovakia and in the Ipel'sko-rimavská brázda region in southern Slovakia. Our results showed that the species is relatively common in different types of wetlands and its re-evaluation in the recent version of the Slovak red list is not needed. Chromosome number data for two new populations in eastern Slovakia (both 2n = 18) were counted. The distribution map is given.
