This study aims to compare the financial performance between foreign and domestic mining firms in Indonesia for a period of 2012-2016. Not only comparing the financial performance, this study is also aimed at analyzing the impact of liquidity ratio, solvability ratio and activity ratio on financial performance and at analyzing which ratio provides the highest contribution on the financial performance of foreign and domestic mining firms in Indonesia for a period of 2012-2016. The total sample employed is 15 foreign firms (PMA) and 15 domestic firms (PMDN). The independent variable used is liquidity ratio, solvability ratio and activity ratio in which each proxies used are current ratio (CR), debt to equity ratio (DER) dan total assets turnover (TATO). Meanwhile the dependent variable used is profitability ratio in which proxies used are return on assets (ROA) dan return on equity (ROE). The analysis technique used in this study is independent samples t-test and multiple regression equation. The results reveal that: (1) There is no significance difference of variance value for all variables (CR, DER, TATO, ROA dan ROE) between foreign and domestic firms; (2) Apart from CR, TATO, ROA and ROE, only debt to equity ratio (DER) shows a significance difference for foreign and domestic firms; (3) CR, DER, TATO, ROA and ROE for foreign firms is better than domestic firms; (4)Ccurrent ratio (X1), debt to equity ratio (X2), and total assets turnover (X3) have a positive and significant impact simultaneously on the financial performance for both return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) for foreign and domestic firms; (5) Total assets turnover (X3) is the only variable providing the highest contribution to the improvement of financial performance for both return on assets and return on equity for foreign and domestic firms.

Data on Canadian financial institutions from the S&amp;P/TSX Composite Index over a five-year period was analyzed, and the results demonstrate that contrary to previous studies on companies in other industries, political connections had a negative influence on solvency, return on assets and return on equity for these Canadian financial institutions. Only the market-to-book ratio was positively and significantly influenced by political connections.</p>

This research is carried out in the backdrop of increasing product quality and environmental degradation scandals associated with Chinese Pharmaceuticals in recent years. We examined the data of 125 Chinese Pharmaceuticals between 2010–2016 to investigate the impact of overall corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance as well as the performance on five unique aspects of CSR such as shareholders, employees, customers and suppliers, environmental practices, and the society to gauge the impact of these individual dimensions on the firm’s financial performance. The Hexun rating system is used to gauge a firm’s CSR performance on various stakeholder dimensions as it is one of the widely accepted CSR measurement criteria in China. The firm performance is measured by Tobin’s Q, return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and earnings per share (EPS) ratios. The outcome of the panel-based regression models reveals that the overall CSR score has a positive and significant influence on a firm’s financial indicators. Moreover, although all the CSR dimensions relate positively to firm performance, the environmental aspect of CSR has the most profound impact on firm performance followed by customers and suppliers, and employees. However, the shareholders and social dimensions have a relatively lesser influence on firm performance. These results imply that Chinese Pharmaceuticals shall further optimize each aspect of CSR performance as it can not only create a favorable brand image for various stakeholders but also results in sustainable financial performance.

A sample of 22 firms undertaking acquisition during 2007-20010 is examined. The t-test for mean difference is employed to examine the performance for the period prior to and after the acquisition. The results show that the firms’ liquidity ratio is not significantly different for the periods before and after acquisition. Total debt to total assets ratio and total debt to equity ratio are significantly different. In particular, the average of these two ratios is higher in the period after the acquisition. This study aims to analyze the financial performance of PT. Multi Bintang Indonesia Tbk in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The analytical tools used in this study are liquidity ratios (current ratios and fast ratios), solvency ratios (ratio of total debt to assets and total debt to equity) ratios), and profitability ratios (return on investment and return on equity). The results of the current ratio and quick ratio research in 2017 show that the company's financial condition is quite good, because the debt is less than the assets and profits obtained. Whereas in 2016 and 2018, the company's financial condition was not good because of higher debt. The quick ratio in 2016 shows that the company's financial condition is not good. Based on the measurement of the solvency ratio, an increase in the total debt to asset ratio and the total debt equity ratio in 2016 and 2018 indicate that the financial condition is not in good condition. Judging from the profitability ratio, the decrease in return on assets and return on equity in 2016 and 2018 shows that the company's financial performance is not good because the ratios are not maximized in generating profits.

The role of corporate governance (CG) is to ensure functioning of companies in accordance with their formulated objectives to ensure growth of corporate assets and satisfaction of the owners. In addition to management of the company, there are other stakeholders whose interests need to be considered in meeting the owners' objectives. These include creditors, employees, clients, and the wider context of the business. The aim of this paper is to explore and compare the impact of selected financial and non-financial determinants representing the interests of these groups on corporate financial performance. The influence of determinants of CG on financial performance, measured by return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE) and return on sales (ROS) indicators, is investigated by means of correlation analysis. The sample of enterprises used consists of non-financial joint-stock companies listed on the Bratislava Stock Exchange, insurance companies, and banks based in Slovakia. The findings show that each of the investigated determinants of CG affects financial performance of companies. ROA, ROE and ROS of share issuers are significantly influenced by the total equity (EQ), average remuneration (AR) and number of the Board of Supervisor members (BSM). With banks, performance indicators are only influenced by total personal costs (PC). ROA, ROE and ROS of all companies are influenced by the dividend ratio (DR), EQ, AR and BSM.
