This study aims to evaluate the implementation of an approach to improve elementary school students’ critical thinking skills. The approach is called MIKIR that stands for mengalami (experiencing), interaksi (interaction), komunikasi (Communication), internalisasi (internalization), and refleksi (reflection). This research was conducted at a public elementary school in Pasir Penyu District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Indonesia. The subject of this research was 23 fourth grade students. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method. The experimental design used in this study was pre-test and post-test one group design. The results of the study obtained an average pretest score of 22.13 and an average posttest score of 27.70 from a maximum score of 36. Based on these results, the score increased by 5.57 points or 20.10%. The overall average N-gain value of 0.41 with moderate criteria, so that the MIKIR approach can improve fourth grade students’ critical thinking skills. This result was supported by the results of student learning activities and student responses to learning with the MIKIR approach obtaining an average of 84.6% with a very good category.

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to think critically. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the Controversial Issues (CI) learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The study design used Nonequivalent [Pre-Test and Post-Test] Control Groups Design (NCGD). The research samples were fourth grade students of SDN 4 Metro Timur, SDN 5 Metro Timur, SDN 8 Metro Timur, and SDN 10 Metro Timur, 60 students were used as the experimental class and 60 students were used as the control class. Data collection tools in the form of sheets about students' critical thinking skills. Data collection techniques in the form of tests, namely pretest to measure the initial ability of students' critical thinking skills and posttest to see the final ability. Based on the results of the study concluded that the effectiveness of the use of the Controversial Issues learning model affects the critical thinking skills of class IV elementary school students, so that students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class are much better when compared to the control class that has conventional learning. Tujuan penelitian ini mengembangkan produk berupa Game ritual tumpe untuk peserta didik SMP Kelas VII. Penelitian menggunakan metode research and developement (R & D) yang dikembangkan oleh Thiagarajan. Penelitian mengacu pada model 4D: define (mendefinisikan), design (mendesain), develop (mengembangkan) dan disseminate (menyebarluaskan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan valid atau memenuhi kriteria kelayakan. Kategori kelayakan yang diperoleh dari ahli media dan juga guru adalah sangat valid. Implementasi media pembelajaran di dalam kelas dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif peserta didik sehingga berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Jenis penelitian menggunakan quasi eksperimen, menggunakan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Gain score yang diperoleh pada saat pretest dan posttes pada kelas eksperimen menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Nilai gain score kelas eksperimen diperoleh 0,67 dan kelas kontrol 0,54 dengan kategori sedang. Efektivitas pembelajaran dilakukan dengan uji Manova dengan perolehan nilai sig. sebesar 0.000 (<0.05). Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan valid, praktis dan efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran sains di kelas VII SMP. Develop critical thinking skills with tumpe ritual games AbstractThe aim of this study was to develop product in the form of a Tumpe Ritual Game for Class VII junior high school students. The research used the research and developement (R & D) method developed by Thiagarajan. The research refers to the 4D model: define, design, develop and disseminate. The result of the study indicates that learning media developed is valid or meet the eligibility criteria. The feasibility category obtained from media experts and also the teacher is highly valid. The implementation of learning media in the classroom can increase students' active participation so that it has an impact on improving critical thinking skill. This type of research uses quasi-experimental, using the control class and the experimental class. Gain scores obtained at the pre-test and post-test in the experimental class showed significant differences. The  gain score of experimental class was 0.67 and the control class was 0.54 with the medium category. The effectiveness of learning was done by Manova test with the acquisition of sig values. amounting to 0,000 (<0.05). These condition indicated that the media developed was valid, practical and effective to be used in the process of learning science in class VII SMP.

<p class="16">Covid-19 spurs teachers to carry out online learning. This study aimed to analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills through online learning based on Android-based PhET Simulation. This research was Quasi-Experimental using one group pre-test and post-test design involving 27 students of class VIII who program science subjects at MTs Alif Laam Miim Surabaya, Indonesia. The research instrument used critical thinking skills tests that have met valid and reliable requirements. Before and after learning activities, students were given a pre-test and a post-test. The data collected was analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills with an average N-gain of 0.57, in the medium category. The highest N-gain was achieved in the "interpretation" indicator, which is 0.83 in the high category and the lowest in the "analysis" indicator, which is 0.39 in the moderate category. This study concluded that learning science by using an Android-based PhET Simulation can improve the critical thinking skills of junior high school students.</p>

The main problem of this study is the lack of ability to think kriis Elementary School fifth grade students in the learning of Social Sciences. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods. The study population was the fifth-grade elementary school students in District Ciparay Bandung regency. The sample consisted of 51 students divided into 25 students in the class IV-A as an experimental group and 26 students in the class IV-B as the control group. Instruments used comprises a written test regarding social issues. Quantitative analysis is performed against the average pretest and post test critical thinking skills by using the t-test and Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the differences are critical thinking skills in students using problem-based learning model at initial measurement (pre-test) and the final measurement (post-test). encourage the student can solve his problems with critical thinking, there are no differences in the ability of critical thinking in students who use conventional learning model at initial measurement (pre-test) and the final measurement (post-test), there is an increased critical thinking skill in students whose learning using model-based the problem is higher than students whose learning using conventional learning.

There have been many efforts to improve elementary school students’ critical thinking skills in science through various learning methods. However, only a few research results show efforts to improve critical thinking skills through HOTS-based science questions for elementary school students. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of student habituation with HOTS-based science questions in improving elementary school students’ critical thinking skills in science. Quasi-experimental methods were employed in this research with a nonequivalent control group design involving a treatment class and a control class. The treatment class gets treatment in HOTS-based science questions habituation during the learning process, while the control class in conventional approaches. A total of 60 students is from one of the elementary schools in Surakarta, Indonesia. To take data related to students’ critical thinking skills, they were given pretest and posttest where each test used HOTS-based science questions in an essay. The obtained data from the tests were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. This study showed that the average of critical thinking skills in science of students in the experimental class was higher than the control class, with a positive mean difference of 0.4226. Based on these results, it is recommended that the results of this study can provide an overview to educational practitioners at the elementary school level and researchers in the field of science education related to efforts to improve elementary school students’ critical thinking skills in science through the habituation of HOTS-based science questions.

ABSTRACTThis research aims to produce learning instrument based models eligible 7E Learning Cycle is used to increase the activity and critical thinking skills of the fourth grade students of elementary school. Learning instrument are developed, namely: RPP, LKS, BAS, LPAS, and TKBK. Design of a test using one group pretest-posttest design are exercised is limited to 10 fourth grade students of SDN 1 Karangsalam then tested on a test implementation of the 21 fourth grade students of SDN Piasa Wetan academic year 2015/2016. The results showed: (1) the validity of the learning instrument that includes RPP, LKS, BAS, LPAS, and TKBK valid category; (2) learning instrument that have been developed practically used as indicated by 100% and the category of practically is excellent category by 3.63, the result of a positive student response and legibility BAS and LKS within easy categories; and (3) the effectiveness of the learning instrument shown by an increase in activity and critical thinking skills of students. Activities of students before the learning category of moderately active after learning increases become active and very active categories. Increased critical thinking skills of students with the average value of n-gain is 0.72 in the high category. Based on the results and discussion of this research concluded that social studies learning instrument based 7E Learning Cycle model has met the eligibility criteria, namely learning instrument validity, practicality, and effectiveness can increase the activity and critical thinking skills of the fourth grade students of elementary school.  Keywords: Learning instrument, learning cycle 7e model, activity, critical thinking skills. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis model Learning Cycle 7E yang layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan yaitu: RPP, LKS, BAS, LPAS, dan TKBK. Desain uji coba menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design yang diujicobakan secara terbatas pada 10 siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Karangsalam kemudian diujicobakan pada uji implementasi kepada 21 siswa kelas IV SDN Piasa Wetan tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) kevalidan perangkat pembelajaran yang meliputi RPP, LKS, BAS, LPAS, dan TKBK berkategori valid; (2) perangkat pembelajaran yang telah dikembangkan praktis digunakan yang ditunjukkan dengan keterlaksanaan RPP sebesar 100% dan kategori keterlaksanaan RPP sangat baik sebesar 3,63, hasil respon siswa positif serta keterbacaan BAS dan LKS dalam kategori mudah; dan (3) keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran ditunjukkan dengan adanya peningkatan aktivitas dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Aktivitas siswa sebelum pembelajaran kategori cukup aktif dan setelah pembelajaran meningkat menjadi kategori aktif dan sangat aktif. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dengan nilai rata-rata n-gain sebesar 0,72 dalam kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil dan diskusi penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPS berbasis model Learning Cycle 7E telah memenuhi kriteria kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran yaitu kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan yang mampu meningkatkan aktivitas dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar.  Kata-kata Kunci: Perangkat pembelajaran, model learning cycle 7e, aktivitas, keterampilan berpikir kritis.

The purpose of this research was assess the activity of teachers, students, enhancement of critical thinking skils student,  results cognitive study, and to know student respon for learning that applied “Everyone  is a Teacher Here”strategy for cooperative models. Research used Classroom Action Research (CAR)methods. The subjects and the location of research was fourth grade students of  Hidayatul Mubtadiin Primary School, amounting to 26 students.The instrument used in this research consisted of sheet of observation teachers activities, sheets of observation of students avtivities, critical thinking skills test, cognitive results studies test, sheets of observation of afective results studies test, sheets of observation of psicomotoric results studies test, and sheets of respons students. The result showed that the activity of teacher, students, critical thinking skills, and the student’s results  study was increase significantly during two cycles with their respective percentage of completeness. Learning of applying “Everyone  is a Teacher Here” strategy for Cooperative models got positive respons from students so worthy to be applied by the teacher.
