The paper presents the results of the qualitative and quantitative determination of some anthocyanins (in particular, cyanidin-3-glycoside and cyanidin-3-galactoside) in the fruits of Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) and Mahonia aquifolium (Pursh) Nutt. The reaction of extracting water-soluble dyes on the solution medium is also presented. The method of direct spectrophotometry was used. All calculations are made in the program STATISTICA 6. It is determined that the maximum content of anthocyanins is typical for fruit chokeberry Aronia. The possibility of using natural dye from chokeberry fruits in the industry is shown.

ABSTRACT Improvement has been made in a serological haemagglutination inhibition method for the qualitative and quantitative determination of chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) in urine, using a highly purified, immunologically homogenous HCG in the preparation of antisera and in the coating of blood cells. Furthermore agar diffusion tests have been carried out with a view to clarifying the immunological nature and homogeneity of the HCG used.

AbstractA new method is described for the qualitative and quantitative determination of both free and bound maleic hydrazide residues in tobacco leaves and cigarette filler by high performance liquid chromatography. Analyses were carried out by hydrolyzing samples of ground tobacco with 4 N hydrochloric acid for 40 minutes under reflux followed by sample chromatography, running isocratic elutions with a dilute solution of phosphoric acid. The quantitative determination of maleic hydrazide was performed by light absorption at 320 nm, by the calibration curve method. Recoveries of maleic hydrazide added to tobacco samples were greater than 90 %. The detection limit of the method, determined on ground tobacco leaves, was at least 5 ppm. The results obtained by this procedure and by the ISO standard method no. 4876 are in good accordance.
