Macroflora of the сoastal waters of the western part of the Heracles peninsula and its intra-annual dynamics (Khersonese cape, the Black Sea)

The species and ecological composition, species occurrence, quantitative characteristics and peculiarities of the intra-annual variability of macrophytobenthos in the coastal waters of Khersonese cape in the west of the Heracles Peninsula are described. 71 macroalgae species of 46 genera of Chlorophyta, Ochrophyta and Rhodophyta were revealed. The basis of taxonomic diversity is Rhodophyta, whereas ecological diversity is due to marine, leading, oligosaprobic, and annual species. Based on the study of heterogeneous states of macrophytobenthos in 2004 and 2014, its labile and constant features were determined.

The seasonal and inter-annual variability of the phytoplankton growth rate and biomass in the coastal waters of the Black Sea near Sevastopol was studied. The nature of the seasonal dynamics and the amplitude of these parameters almost coincide. An increase in the average annual values of water temperature causes changes in the species structure of phytoplankton, its seasonal succession, and a decrease in the average annual values of the specific growth rate and phytoplankton biomass by about 2 times.

New information about fungi distribution, change of genera names and change of the systematic attribution of some species determine the necessity of revision of the Crimean coastal waters mycobiota. The purpose of this work is to conduct a revision of fungi names synonymy, to reveal specific richness, to give quantitative evaluation and to perform comparative analysis of the taxonomic diversity of mycobiota of different regions and biotopes in the Black Sea sector of the Crimean coastal waters and west khalistaza on the base of literature and our own data. The following biotopes have been studied: water, bottom sediments, algae, integument of invertebrates, dolphins’ skin, Zostera marina and wood. The taxonomic list of marine mycobiota included 275 species from 105 genera, 40 families, 26 orders, 15 classes, 5 phylum. The number of species in areas has changed from 19 (6.9 % of composition) in west khalistaza to 147 (53.4 %) in Kazach’ya Bay, in biotopes – from 17 (6.2 %) on the skin of dolphins to 157 (57.1 %) in bottom sediments. The valuation of fungal species variety was made with the usage of Taxonomic Distinctness Indices TaxDI (Δ+ and Λ+). The complexity of the minimum taxonomic diversity (Δ+ = 66.4) was identified in the west khalistaza, the maximum – in the Sevastopol’skaya Bay (Δ+ = 80.2). The minimum value of the index (Δ+ = 70.0) was identified in the fragments of wood, the maximum (Δ+ = 86.2) – on invertebrates. The less taxonomic variety was revealed in the complexes, in which the basis of the composition (81.8–89.5 % in areas and 76.5–87.1 % in biotopes) was presented by polyspecies branches of mycobiota from the “leading” families and genera. The number of examined biotopes has determined the distinctive features of the hierarchic diversity of mycobiota. The obligate aquatic fungi isolated from invertebrates and from fragments of wood has affected the structure of fungal complexes. Maximal similarity of mycocomplexes at all taxonomical levels was registered in Kazach’ya and Kamyshovaya bays, minimal – in mycocomplexes of west khalistaza and Sevastopol’skaya Bay. The greatest similarity of structure was registered in biotopes of water and bottom sediments, the smallest – in biotopes of water and wood.

A new species of the genus Cimmerites Jeannel, 1928, C. maximovitchi sp. nov., is described from the Akhunskaya Cave and Labirintovaya Cave, both located in the Akhun Karst Massif on the Black Sea Coast of the West Caucasus (Krasnodar Territory, Russia). The new species is rather isolated within the genus Cimmerites and occupies an intermediate position between species related to C. kryzhanovskii Belousov, 1998 and species close to C. vagabundus Belousov, 1998. Though both C. maximovitchi sp. nov. and C. kryzhanovskii are still known only from caves, these species are quite similar in their life form to other members of the genus which are all true endogean species.

Long-term (20032014) routine observations of zooplankton in Sevastopol Bay (the Black Sea) have allowed the naturalization of the invasive copepod Oithona davisae to be studied in the Black Sea coastal waters. Inter-annual and seasonal variability of the species and their impact on the native copepod community have been analyzed. The invasion of O. davisae and their undoubted dominance in terms of abundance were shown to alter the community structure but, at the same time, the abundances of the native species did not decrease, excepting the Black Sea earlier invader Acartia tonsa. A significant decline in A. tonsa numbers over the stages of O. davisae establishment and naturalization provided evidence of competition between the species. O. davisae have been demonstrated to gain competitive advantage over A. tonsa, that ensured their fast dispersal in the Black Sea, acclimatization in the new habitat and the successful competition over native species.

The concept of a new approach to environmental assessment is offered in the system of integrated management of the resource and environmental safety of the coastal area of the Black Sea. The studies of the season and daily changeability in the bioluminescence field in the Sevastopol coastal waters has been conducted. For the first time considerable differences in the bioluminescence field seasonal changes in the surface and deep water layers and the reasons conditioning this phenomenon have been shown, using a method of multidimensional statistical analysis. The bioluminescence field vertical profile change in the Black sea coastal waters in the autumn period at night has been studied. It has been shown that according to the character of bioluminescence parameters dynamics a water column can be divided into layers: upper (0 – 35 m) and deep water (36 – 60 m). It has been revealed that life rhythms of the plankton community are the main reason for the bioluminescence field intensity variability. It has been revealed that 14-hour periodicity of the bioluminescence field is related to the changes in light and its variations with 2,5…4,5 hours are conditioned by planktonts endogenous daily rhythms. And here biotic factors effect mostly periodicity of the bioluminescence field intensity increase and fall down at the dark time of the day. Abiotic factors are of less importance in circadian rhythmic of the bioluminescence field in the neritic zone.
