Ammonia nitrogen is the major oxygen-consuming pollutant in aquatic environments. Exposure to ammonia nitrogen in the aquatic environment can lead to bioaccumulation in fish, and the ammonia nitrogen concentration is the main determinant of accumulation. In most aquatic environments, fish are at the top of the food chain and are most vulnerable to the toxic effects of high levels of ammonia nitrogen exposure. In fish exposed to toxicants, ammonia-induced toxicity is mainly caused by bioaccumulation in certain tissues. Ammonia nitrogen absorbed in the fish enters the circulatory system and affects hematological properties. Ammonia nitrogen also breaks balance in antioxidant capacity and causes oxidative damage. In addition, ammonia nitrogen affects the immune response and causes neurotoxicity because of the physical and chemical toxicity. Thence, the purpose of this review was to investigate various toxic effects of ammonia nitrogen, including oxidative stress, neurotoxicity and immune response.

Vascular endothelium plays a vital role in the organization and function of the blood vessel and maintains homeostasis of the circulatory system and normal arterial function. Functional disruption of the endothelium is recognized as the beginning event that triggers the development of consequent cardiovascular disease (CVD) including atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. There is a growing data associating mercury exposure with endothelial dysfunction and higher risk of CVD. This review explores and evaluates the impact of mercury exposure on CVD and endothelial function, highlighting the interplay of nitric oxide and oxidative stress.

Physical and chemical properties are closely related to desulfurization, regeneration performance and cycle stability for high temperature coal gas desulfurizer. This review focuses on influence rules of changes in regeneration atmosphere, temperature and space velocity on physical and chemical properties. A large number of experimental researches have shown that regeneration atmosphere, regeneration temperature, space velocity have an important influence on mechanical strength, active component and texture change for high temperature coal gas desulfurizer. The different regeneration atmosphere obviously results in different active ingredients for desulfurization sorbent after regeneration, and regeneration at a higher regeneration temperature will easily cause desulfurizer sintering, as well as small regeneration space velocity can lead to the formation of sulfates. In order to make the circulatory system of sulfidation-regeneration-sulfidation need to the requirements in industrial application, the further research of influence rules of regeneration condition on physical and chemical properties will be crucial.
