Two interpenetrated coordination polymers (CPs) {[Zn1(L)(NO2pbda)]n[Zn2(L)(NO2pbda)]n} (1) and [Zn(L)(Brpbda)]n (2) were prepared by reactions of zinc sulfate heptahydrate with N-donor ligands of 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-4-yl)benzene (L) and auxiliary carboxylic acids of nitroterephthalic acid (H2NO2pbda) and 2,5-dibromoterephthalic acid (H2Brpbda), respectively. The structures of the CPs were characterized by Fourier-Transform Infrared (IR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination polymer 1 has two different (4, 4) sql 2D layer structures based on the [Zn(L)(NO2pbda)] moiety, which results in inclined interpenetration with a 2D + 2D → 3D architecture, while the CP 2 exhibits a 3-fold interpenetrating dmp network. The diffuse reflectance spectra are also investigated for the CPs 1 and 2.

Solvothermal reactions of 3,3′,5,5′-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid (H4BPTC) and cobalt(ii) ions in the presence of two different flexible N-donor ancillary ligands afford two novel coordination polymers, {[Co(BPTC)0.5(bix)]·H2O}n (1), {[Co(BPTC)0.5(bpp)]·3H2O}n (2) (bix=1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene; bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane). Their structures have been determined by elemental analyses, IR spectra, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, and powder X-ray diffraction. The pillared layered framework of 1 can be simplified to a (4,6)-connected net with a Schläfli symbol of (44·62)(44·69·82). Complex 2 manifests a bilayered structure, and can be simplified to a (4,4)-connected net with a Schläfli symbol of (55·8)(54·62). The thermal stabilities of both complexes and the magnetic behaviours of 1 are also discussed.

Two CoII-based coordination polymers, namely poly[(μ4-biphenyl-2,2′,5,5′-tetracarboxylato){μ2-1,3-bis[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]benzene}dicobalt(II)], [Co2(C16H6O8)(C14H14N4)2] n or [Co2(o,m-bpta)(1,3-bimb)2] n (I), and poly[[aqua(μ4-biphenyl-2,2′,5,5′-tetracarboxylato){1,4-bis[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]benzene}dicobalt(II)] dihydrate], {[Co2(C16H6O8)(C14H14N4)2(H2O)2]·4H2O} n or {[Co2(o,m-bpta)(1,4-bimb)2(H2O)2]·4H2O} n (II), were synthesized from a mixture of biphenyl-2,2′,5,5′-tetracarboxylic acid, i.e. [H4(o,m-bpta)], CoCl2·6H2O and N-donor ligands under solvothermal conditions. The complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The bridging (o,m-bpta)4− ligands combine with CoII ions in different μ4-coordination modes, leading to the formation of one-dimensional chains. The central CoII atoms display tetrahedral [CoN2O2] and octahedral [CoN2O4] geometries in I and II, respectively. The bis[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]benzene (bimb) ligands adopt trans or cis conformations to connect CoII ions, thus forming two three-dimensional (3D) networks. Complex I shows a (2,4)-connected 3D network with left- and right-handed helical chains constructed by (o,m-bpta)4− ligands. Complex II is a (4,4)-connected 3D novel network with ribbon-like chains formed by (o,m-bpta)4− linkers. Magnetic studies indicate an orbital contribution to the magnetic moment of I and II due to the longer Co...Co distances. An attempt has been made to fit the χM T results to the magnetic formulae for mononuclear CoII complexes, the fitting indicating the presence of weak antiferromagnetic interactions between the CoII ions.

Five new coordination polymers, namely [Zn(2-CMSN)(biim-4)] (1), [Co2(2-CMSN)2(biim-4)(H2O)4] (2), [Ni(2-CMSN)(biim-4)0.5(H2O)2] (3), [Cd(2-CMSN)(biim-4)0.5(H2O)2] (4), and [Cd(ADTZ)(biim-4)1.5]·5H2O (5), (2-H2CMSN = 2-carboxymethylsulfanyl nicotinic acid, H2ADTZ = 2,5-(S-acetic acid) dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, biim-4 = 1,1′-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole)) have been synthesised under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 shows a 2D undulated sheet, which is constructed from 1D meso-helical [Zn-(biim-4)]n chains and linear [Zn-(2-CMSN)]n chains. Complexes 2–4 exhibit a similar 2D (4,4) grid network constructed from zigzag [M-(2-CMSN)]n chains and linear [M-(biim-4)]n chains (M = CoII, NiII and CdII), which possesses a ‘4+2’ type six-membered ring. Complex 5 displays a 3D architecture derived from 2D Cd-(biim-4) layers and double ADTZ linkers with diamond-type 66 topology. The effects of the central metals and S-containing dicarboxylates on the structures of the title coordination polymers have been discussed. The luminescent properties of complexes 1, 4, and 5 have been studied. Complex 5 exhibits photocatalytic activity for dye degradation under ultraviolet light and good stability towards photocatalysis.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was synthesized at 520°C by the pyrolysis of cyanamide, dicyandiamide, and melamine. The samples were characterized by X–ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and elemental analyzer. The photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4was evaluated by the photodegrading experiments of methylene blue (MB). The results indicated that g-C3N4. A photocatalytic mechanism presumed the MB photodegradation over the C3N4photocatalyst is attributed to photogenerated electron impelled multistep reduction of O2.

In heterogeneous catalysis, chemical reactions take place at the surface of the material and can be influenced by its structure. To understand better the impact of the material surface and structure on catalytic properties, it is important to characterize them simultaneously. The association of X-ray diffraction and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, combined in a single dedicated high-temperature and high-pressure reaction cell with an online gas chromatograph, could be the answer to this challenge. For the first time, such an analytical tool has been developed for laboratory applications. The use of this device is illustrated, and it is validated through thein situstudy of the thermal decomposition of calcium oxalate.

Energi celah pita yang lebar dari semikonduktor TiO2 yang setara dengan cahaya ultraviolet (l<380 nm) membatasi aplikasi fotokatalitik hanya terbatas pada daerah ultraviolet dan tidak pada daerah cahaya tampak (l = 400 nm–700 nm). Pada penelitian ini dilakukan sintesis TiO2 teremban nitrogen yang dipreparasi melalui metode sol-gel. Prekursor TiCl4 digunakan sebagai sumber titanium dioksida dan CO(NH2)2 sebagai sumber nitrogen dan divariasi pada jumlah konsentrasi N dengan variasi 20 g, 30 g, 40 g dan 50 g. Refluks dilakukan pada suhu 100oC selama 7 jam dilanjutkan dengan pengeringan selama 3 jam pada suhu 100oC, dan kalsinasi pada suhu 500oC selama 7 jam . Karakterisasi N-doped TiO2 dilakukan menggunakan X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform–Infra Red spectroscopy (FTIR), dan UV- Visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-Vis DRS). Berdasarkan data XRD diketahui bahwa kristal N- doped TiO2 berstruktur anatase dengan indeks Miller 101. Spektra FTIR menunjukkan pergeseran serapan vibrasi O-Ti-O pada bilangan gelombang 400-1050 cm-1, diperkirakan sebagai akibat terbentuknya ikatan N-Ti-O. Spektrum DRS-UV–tampak menunjukkan penurunan energi celah pita dari TiO2 yakni 3,2 eV. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan konsentrasi nitrogen mengakibatkan penurunan energi celah pita, pada variasi 20g sebesar 3,12 eV, 30 g sebesar 3,09 eV, 40 g sebesar 3,082 eV, dan 50 g sebesar 3,08 eV.

The effect of organic modification on the surface of silicon nitride powders has been investigated. The Si3N4 powder modified by tartaric acid and PEI was characterized by using granulometer, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, SEM. The results show that modifier on Si3N4 powder surface is chemical adsorption coating. The addition of modifier dose not change phase, but modified particles have spherical tendency. Modifier coating occurred oxidative decomposition in 200-400°C. surface modification can improve the fluidity of powder and density of green bodies. As the amount of modifier increased, the angle of repose and compression degree firstly decreases and then increases. The angle of repose of artaric acid and PEI modified powder decrease 9 º and 12º, compression degree decline 15% and 20% respectively.

Sintesis nanokomposit Fe3O4/TiO2 sebagai fotokatalis yang dapat diambil kembali dalam fotoreduksi limbah ion Ag(I) telah dilakukan. Sintesis diawali dengan sintesis magnetit (Fe3O4) melalui kopresipitasi dan sonikasi. Pelapisan TiO2 dilakukan dengan proses sol-gel dengan penambahan benih atau seed TiO2 degusa, dan diikuti perlakuan termal pada suhu 500 °C. Hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi dengan fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) dan diffuse reflectance-UV (DR-UV). Uji aktivitas fotokatalis nanokomposit Fe3O4/TiO2 dilakukan terhadap fotoreduksi ion Ag(I) dengan sistem batch dalam reaktor tertutup yang dilengkapi dengan lampu UV. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nanokomposit Fe3O4/TiO2 memiliki kemampuan fotokatalitik yang baik. Nanokomposit Fe3O4/TiO2 memiliki kemampuan fotoreduksi lebih baik dibanding TiO2 tanpa modifikasi. Fotoreduksi ion Ag(I) 12,5 ppm berlangsung optimum pada pH 6 dan waktu reaksi 90 menit dengan hasil sebesar 98,6 %.

TiO2 (titanium dioksida) merupakan satu di antara material semikonduktor yang banyak dipelajari karena sifat optik dan elektroniknya yang baik. Secara struktur, TiO2 mempunyai tiga fase kristal yaitu anatase, rutile, dan brookite. Dari ketiga fase tersebut, anatase lebih diminati untuk fotokatalisis. Namun, energi celah pita (band gap) dari fase ini (3,2 eV) sedikit lebih besar daripada fase rutile (3,0 eV) sehingga diperlukan perlakuan lebih lanjut untuk menurunkan energi celah pita material ini. Dalam penelitian ini, telah dilakukan sintesis komposit TiO2 dengan variasi penambahan metakaolin teraktivasi KOH (MK-OH) menggunakan metode sol-gel. Sifat fundamental yang meliputi gugus fungsi dan energi celah pita dari komposit TiO2/MK-OH juga dikaji. Berdasarkan hasil analisis X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) dan X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) dari MK-OH yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, diketahui adanya puncak difraksi pada 2 = (12,34o; 20,85o; 25,52o; 26,59o) yang menunjukkan kandungan mineral kaolinit dan kuarsa dengan rasio Si/Al sebesar 1,614. Hasil analisis Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) juga menunjukkan adanya puncak pada bilangan gelombang 686-700 (Si-O-Si); 946-947 (Si-O-Ti); 1630 (-OH); 3330 (-OH) cm-1. Selain itu, berdasarkan analisis Diffuse Reflectance – Ultraviolet (DR-UV) diketahui bahwa energi celah pita terendah dimiliki oleh komposisi 5% MK-OH sebesar 3,05 eV.
