Literature highlights how education in the twenty-first century begins to advocate multiple new concepts, such as new technology, new pedagogies, interdisciplinary curricula, open learning, etc. Among these concepts, the recognition and awareness about one’s character strengths are demonstrated to improve emotional management and individual/group’s quality of life. We studied three fifth-grade Italian classes using an emerging educational model called IARA to verify if it can truly improve emotional literacy, characters strengths awareness, and cohesion in ten-years children. To demonstrate its efficacy, we used Bloom’s Taxonomy and Sociogrammatic study. We proved that the IARA could be an efficient model to improve one’s character strengths and class milieu awareness.

Over the years, orthopaedic surgery has evolved into a vast specialty that is ever growing, with new technology, techniques, and implants. Computer-assisted surgery and minimally invasive approaches are current hot topics that are pushing the boundaries of what constitutes gold standard care for patients. This specialty touches people of all ages from all walks of life. The practicality and logic in decision-making and management appeal to today’s modern ‘orthopods’. Common paediatric orthopaedic conditions, such as developmental dysplasia of the hip and septic arthritis, can have serious consequences for the rest of the child’s life if unrecognized and so are represented in this chapter. Arthroplasty has been one of the true successes of the twenty-first century, and now over 160 000 knee and hip replacements are performed each year in the UK, revolutionizing the quality of life of patients with painful disabling arthritis. To be a good orthopaedic surgeon requires not only a wide knowledge base, but also common sense, logic, and practical skills. ‘A good surgeon knows how to operate; a great surgeon knows when to operate’ is a classic saying that was drilled into me as a young houseman. In this specialty, there are often several management options facing the surgeon and the patient, and through careful discussion and the process of informed consent, a joint plan can be formulated and executed. The questions in this chapter will help you to prepare both for your exams and for a future career as a doctor.

There are many non-traditional additions to the influential works in the international or international context, which have expanded and become very large.  Some of them have not entered into this field of international relations. Hence the need to supplement, renew and add new concepts There digital (electronic) factor, has become the key to the hard and soft domination of international units, and an important input in international relations, especially the twenty-first century. We have been able to explore the reality of the international interaction based on (cooperation, competition, conflict). In conclusion, the global system will remain state-based and international organizations. At the same time, it will continue to be born and no states in its interactions with the ease of use of digital technology by individuals on the planet..

The forced work of Russian universities remotely in the context of the pandemic (COVID-19) has generated a lot of discussion about the benefits of the new form of education. The first results were summed up and reports were presented, the materials of which showed that the main goal of online education — the prevention of the spread of infection, - has been achieved. Against this background, proposals and publications have appeared substantiating the effectiveness of the massive introduction of distance learning in Russia, including in higher education. However, the assessment of such training by the population and students in publications and in social networks was predominantly negative and showed that the number of emerging problems exceeds the possible benefits of the new educational technology. Based on the analysis of the materials of publications and personal experience of teaching online, the potential benefits and problems of distance learning in higher education in Russia are considered. It is proposed to consider the effects separately for the suppliers of new technology (government, universities) and consumers (students, teachers, society). It is substantiated that the massive introduction of online education allows not only to reduce the negative consequences of epidemics, but also to reduce budgetary funding for universities, optimize the age composition of teachers, and reduce the cost of maintaining educational buildings. However, there will be a leveling / averaging of the quality of education, and responsibility for the quality of training will shift from the state/universities to students. The critical shortcomings of online education are the low degree of readiness of the digital infrastructure, the lack of a mechanism for identifying and monitoring the work of students, information security problems, and the lack of trust in such training of the population. The massive use of online education creates a number of risks for the country, the most critical of which is the destruction of the higher education system and a drop in the effectiveness of personnel training. The consequences of this risk realization are not compensated by any possible budget savings.

This paper is concerned with concepts such as quality of education, evaluation of the standard of the work of the teacher and comparison of educational results. It points to the importance of standards and the difficulties involved in their implementation. It also discusses the concept of competence and its relevance to framework educational programmes and the further education of teachers. The paper also focuses on a number of trends in education that are less widely discussed: instability — permanent change, reduction of education, emphasis on topicality and practical applicability, underestimation of the system, etc. The final part of the paper presents a current project from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic — a proposal for career progression.

Since 2002, Sunni jihadi groups have been active in Iranian Baluchistan without managing to plunge the region into chaos. This book suggests that a reason for this, besides Tehran’s military responses, has been the quality of Khomeini and Khamenei’s relationship with a network of South-Asia-educated Sunni ulama (mawlawis) originating from the Sarbaz oasis area, in the south of Baluchistan. Educated in the religiously reformist, socially conservative South Asian Deoband School, which puts the madrasa at the centre of social life, the Sarbazi ulama had taken advantage, in Iranian territory, of the eclipse of Baluch tribal might under the Pahlavi monarchy (1925-79). They emerged then as a bulwark against Soviet influence and progressive ideologies, before rallying to Khomeini in 1979. Since the turn of the twenty-first century, they have been playing the role of a rampart against Salafi propaganda and Saudi intrigues. The book shows that, through their alliance with an Iranian Kurdish-born Muslim-Brother movement and through the promotion of a distinct ‘Sunni vote’, they have since the early 2000s contributed towards – and benefitted from – the defence by the Reformist presidents Khatami (1997-2005) and Ruhani (since 2013) of local democracy and of the minorities’ rights. They endeavoured to help, at the same time, preventing the propagation of jihadism and Sunni radicalisation to Iran – at least until the ISIS/Daesh-claimed attacks of June 2017, in Tehran, shed light on the limits of the Islamic Republic’s strategy of reliance on Deobandi ulama and Muslim-Brother preachers in the country’s Sunni-peopled peripheries.

Achieving normal or near-normal glycemic control as reflected by HbA1c levels in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) is important for preventing the development and progression of chronic complications. Despite delineation and dissemination of HbA1c management targets and advances in insulin pharmacology, insulin delivery systems, and glucose monitoring, the majority of children with T1D do not achieve HbA1c goals. In particular, African Americans are more likely not to reach HbA1c goals and have persistently higher HbA1c than Non-Hispanic Whites. Availability of pumps and other technology has not eliminated the disparity in HbA1c. Multiple factors play a role in the persisting racial disparity in HbA1c outcome. The carefully designed application and deployment of new technology to help the patient/family and facilitate the supportive role of the diabetes management team may be able to overcome racial disparity in glycemic outcome and improve patient quality of life.

Regardless of the degree of elaboration of series of models, just how can they be used for calibration purposes? And how much is this calibration sensitive to the quality of the model theory? These two questions are the basis of our discussion, which covers : I – The general principles of the use of model atmospheres in stellar calibration (1 – The two dimensional classifications; 2 – The use of the total luminosity; 3 – The cases of Vega and Sirius; 4 – The calibration of ST – Teff relation); II – The failures of the two parameters model atmospheres (1 – The observational need for more-than-two-parameters classification; 2 – The abundance of elements, the line formation, and the model atmospheres; 3 – Various sources of unadequacy of models; 4 – Envelopes or shell features; their influence on model-building; 5 – The case of HD 45677. Diagnostic of early-type stars; 6 – Various unexplained spectral features); III – The present state of the model factory (1 – The classical models; 2 – New concepts in the description of a stellar atmosphere; 3 – New approaches in model making; 4 – Conclusions).
