The use of concentrated aprotic electrolytes in lithium batteries provides numerous potential applications, including the use of high-voltage cathodes and Li-metal anodes. In this paper, we aim at understanding the effect of salt concentration on the variation of the Li/Li+ Quasi-Reference Electrode (QRE) potential in Tetraglyme (TG)-based electrolytes. Comparing the obtained results to those achieved using Dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO-based electrolytes, we are now able to take a step forward and understand how the effect of solvent coordination and its donor number (DN) is attributed to the Li-QRE potential shift. Using a revised Nernst equation, the alteration of the Li redox potential with salt concentration was determined accurately. It is found that, in TG, the Li-QRE shift follows a different trend than in DMSO owing to the lower DN and expected shorter lifespan of the solvated cation complex.

By collecting and analyzing relevant literature results, we demonstrate that the nanostructuring of polypyrrole (PPy) electrodes is a crucial strategy to achieve high performance and stability in energy devices such as fuel cells, lithium batteries and supercapacitors. In this critic and comprehensive review, we focus the attention on the electrochemical methods for deposition of PPy, nanostructures and potential applications, by analyzing the effect of different physico-chemical parameters, electro-oxidative conditions including template-based or template-free depositions and cathodic polymerization. Diverse interfaces and morphologies of polymer nanodeposits are also discussed.

Cell failure of polymer electrolytes is rather the result of short circuits instead of assumed electrolyte oxidation. A spacer with a constant and defined distance can avoid this failure, thus realize a benchmark system for a more systematic R&D.

Exceeding the electric field’s limit value is not allowed in the vicinity of high-voltage power lines because of both legal and safety aspects. The design parameters of the line must be chosen so that such cases do not occur. However, analysis of several operating power lines in Europe found that the electric field strength in many cases exceeds the legally prescribed limit for the general public. To illustrate this issue and its importance, field measurement and finite element simulation results of the low-frequency electric field are presented for an active 400 kV power line. The purpose of this paper is to offer a new, economical expert system based on dynamic line rating (DLR) that utilizes the potential of real-time power line monitoring methods. The article describes the expert system’s strengths and benefits from both technical and financial points of view, highlighting DLR’s potential for application. With our proposed expert system, it is possible to increase a power line’s safety and security by ensuring that the electric field does not exceed its limit value. In this way, the authors demonstrate that DLR has other potential applications in addition to its capacity-increasing effect in the high voltage grid.
