This paper proposes an innovative approach to classify the losses related to photovoltaic (PV) systems, through the use of thermographic non-destructive tests (TNDTs) supported by artificial intelligence techniques. Low electricity production in PV systems can be caused by an efficiency decrease in PV modules due to abnormal operating conditions such as failures or malfunctions. The most common performance decreases are due to the presence of dirt on the surface of the module, the impact of which depends on many parameters and conditions, and can be identified through the use of the TNDTs. The proposed approach allows one to automatically classify the thermographic images from the convolutional neural network (CNN) of the system, achieving an accuracy of 98% in tests that last a couple of minutes. This approach, compared to approaches in literature, offers numerous advantages, including speed of execution, speed of diagnosis, reduced costs, reduction in electricity production losses.

In this paper, the idea of using a convolutional neural network (CNN) for the detection and classification of induction motor stator winding faults is presented. The diagnosis inference of the stator inter-turn short-circuits is based on raw stator current data. It offers the possibility of using the diagnostic signal direct processing, which could replace well known analytical methods. Tests were carried out for various levels of stator failures. In order to assess the sensitivity of the applied CNN-based detector to motor operating conditions, the tests were carried out for variable load torques and for different values of supply voltage frequency. Experimental tests were conducted on a specially designed setup with the 3 kW induction motor of special construction, which allowed for the physical modelling of inter-turn short-circuits in each of the three phases of the machine. The on-line tests prove the possibility of using CNN in the real-time diagnostic system with the high accuracy of incipient stator winding fault detection and classification. The impact of the developed CNN structure and training method parameters on the fault diagnosis accuracy has also been tested.

The following paper presents the results of research on the impact of machine learning in the construction of a voice-controlled interface. Two different models were used for the analysys: a feedforward neural network containing one hidden layer and a more complicated convolutional neural network. What is more, a comparison of the applied models was presented. This comparison was performed in terms of quality and the course of training.

Abstract Various types of Indonesian coffee are already popular internationally. Recently, there are still not many methods to classify the types of typical Indonesian coffee. Computer vision is a non-destructive method for classifying agricultural products. This study aimed to classify three types of Indonesian Arabica coffee beans, i.e., Gayo Aceh, Kintamani Bali, and Toraja Tongkonan, using computer vision. The classification method used was the AlexNet convolutional neural network with sensitivity analysis using several variations of the optimizer such as SGDm, Adam, and RMSProp and the learning rate of 0.00005 and 0.0001. Each type of coffee used 500 data for training and validation with the distribution of 70% training and 30% validation. The results showed that all AlexNet models achieved a perfect validation accuracy value of 100% in 1,040 iterations. This study also used 100 testing-set data on each type of coffee bean. In the testing confusion matrix, the accuracy reached 99.6%.

The computer ability to detect human being by computer vision is still being improved both in accuracy or computation time. In low-lighting condition, the detection accuracy is usually low. This research uses additional information, besides RGB channels, namely a depth map that shows objects’ distance relative to the camera. This research integrates Cascade Classifier (CC) to localize the potential object, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique to identify the human and nonhuman image, and the Kalman filter technique to track human movement. For training and testing purposes, there are two kinds of RGB-D datasets used with different points of view and lighting conditions. Both datasets have been selected to remove images which contain a lot of noises and occlusions so that during the training process it will be more directed. Using these integrated techniques, detection and tracking accuracy reach 77.7%. The impact of using Kalman filter increases computation efficiency by 41%.

Abstract In this work, a novel combined trajectory planner and tracking controller is developed for autonomous vehicles operating on off-road deformable terrains. Common approaches to trajectory planning and tracking often rely on model-dependent schemes, which utilize a simplified model to predict the impact of control inputs to future vehicle response. However, in an off-road context and especially on deformable terrains, accurately modeling the vehicle response for predictive purposes can be challenging due to the complexity of the tire-terrain interaction and limitations of state-of-the-art terramechanics models in terms of operating conditions, computation time, and continuous differentiability. To address this challenge and improve vehicle safety and performance through more accurate prediction of the plant response, in this paper, a nonlinear model predictive control framework is presented that accounts for terrain deformability explicitly using a neural network terramechanics model for deformable terrains. The utility of the proposed scheme is demonstrated on high fidelity simulations for a notional lightweight military vehicle on soft soil. It is shown that the neural network based controller can outperform a baseline Pacejka model based scheme by improving on performance metrics associated with the cost function. In more severe maneuvers, the neural network based controller can achieve sufficient fidelity as compared to the plant to complete maneuvers that lead to failure for the Pacejka based controller. Finally, it is demonstrated that the proposed framework is conducive to real-time implementability.
