Concrete is a multi-phase, porous system. The pore structure has an important influence on the properties of the concrete. In this paper, a kind of fiber reinforced mortar was prepared with desert sand and its pore structure was studied. The MIP technique was used to investigate the pore structure characteristics between 1 nm and 500 μm (in diameter). Meanwhile, the μX-CT technique was used to study the pore structure characteristics above 200 μm. It was found that the total porosity tends to decrease first and then increase as the dosage of desert sand increased. The porosity decreased gradually from the upper to bottom area inside the sample, and the diameter of the air voids near the upper area became larger. After curing for 28 days, the compressive strength of fiber reinforced mortar reached the maximum when the content of desert sand was 50%. In conclusion, the appropriate amount of desert sand can reduce the porosity of the fiber reinforced mortar to some extent and the number of large size air voids can be significantly reduced, which improves the pore structure and the mechanical properties of the fiber reinforced mortar.

Drawing Dies meter A / D acquisition module will be collected from the mold hole contour data to draw a curve in Matlab. According to the mold pore structure characteristics of the curve, the initial cut-off point of each part of contour is determined and iteratived optimization to find the best cut-off point, use the least squares method for fitting piecewise linear and fitting optimization to find the function of the various parts of the curve function, finally calculate the pass parameters of drawing mode. Parameters obtained compare with the standard mold, both of errors are relatively small that prove the correctness of the algorithm. Also a complete algorithm flow of pass parameters is designed, it can fast and accurately measure the wire drawing die hole parameters.

This paper presents an experimental study on the permeability and the pore structure of lightweight concrete with fly ash, zeolite powder, or silica fume, in comparison to that of normal weight aggregate concrete. The results showed that the mineral admixtures can improve the anti-permeability performance of lightweight aggregate concrete, and mixed with compound mineral admixtures further more. The resistance to chloride-ion permeability of light weight concrete was higher than that of At the same strength grade, the anti-permeability performance of lightweight aggregate concrete is better than that of normal weight aggregate concrete. The anti-permeability performance of LC40 was similar to that of C60. Mineral admixtures can obviously improve the pore structure of lightweight aggregate concrete, the total porosity reduced while the pore size decreased.

The pore structure characteristics of reactive powder concrete (RPC) were investigated by means of the mercury injection method at seven temperature levels, namely, 20°C, 100°C, 150°C, 200°C, 250°C, 300°C, 350°C, respectively. The characteristic parameters such as porosity, pore volume, average pore size and threshold aperture varied with temperatures were analyzed. The results indicate that the porosity, pore volume, threshold aperture and other characteristic parameters of RPC increased with the temperature increasing.

AbstractInitial observations of the influence of pore structure on material properties of cement paste are described. The total porosity is held constant and pore structure is altered by use of a superplasticizer. Corresponding changes in strength and fracture energy are observed. Changes in the cement paste pore structure are evaluated by analysis of images obtained by optical microscopy. The technique is a direct method of measurement that avoids assumptions about pore geometry.
