Accurate assessment of the efficiency of securities companies is of great significance to improve the competitiveness of companies, due to their increasingly important role in supporting economic development. As the main contribution, this paper proposes a novel efficiency estimation framework for securities companies based on data envelopment analysis (DEA), which takes into account operational risks and technical heterogeneity. First, the risk variable is incorporated in the evaluation system as an undesirable output through the setting of weak disposability. Subsequently, the meta-frontier model is introduced to consider the impact of the technical heterogeneity of different companies to improve the accuracy of the assessment. Furthermore, this article also provides the meta-frontier Malmquist model, which can be utilized to analyze in detail technological progress. Finally, the securities companies listed in the Chinese stock market were selected as samples for empirical analysis. The efficiency evaluation model for securities companies proposed in this paper will provide a reference for related evaluation issues.

By combining the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, from the view of time and district, this paper carries out a dynamic evaluation of resource allocation efficiency of China’s telecommunication industry from 1973 to 2008. The results show that technical efficiency indicator and technological progress indicator are the major factors of resources allocation of China’s telecommunication industry. It analyzed and studied all previous reorganization and regulation effects to the telecom with the reference to the efficiency changes of the telecom industry. Based on the non-Archimedean infinite model C2R of the Data Envelopment Analysis, combined with characteristics of inputs and outputs of China’s telecommunication industry, the paper sets up an indicator system of inputs and outputs as well as an overall efficiency evaluation model China’s telecommunication industry.

The collection of municipal solid waste (MSW) is a public service with notable effects on the environment and public health. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of selective collection and recycling of MSW on the performance of municipalities in providing MSW services. By employing the data envelopment analysis method, the efficiency and eco-efficiency scores for a sample of 298 municipalities in Chile were analyzed and compared. The efficiency estimation focused on the economic performance of the municipalities in the provision of MSW services, whereas the eco-efficiency assessment also integrated the environmental performance. The results indicated that the selective collection and recycling of MSW had a significant impact on the performance of the municipalities in providing these services. The percentages of efficient and eco-efficient municipalities were very low (4.70% and 4.36%, respectively), thus demonstrating the large room for performance improvement by Chilean municipalities in the management of MSW. The efficient and eco-efficient municipalities were heterogeneously distributed throughout the country, revealing the lack of collaboration between municipalities at the regional level. Finally, exogenous variables to the management of MSW carried out by the municipalities, including the population served, population density, tourism and waste generated per capita, all had an impact on the efficiency and eco-efficiency scores. The results and conclusions of this study are of great relevance for policy makers at the regional and local levels to improve the management of MSW in the context of a circular economy.

In pursuit of financial intermediation between borrowers and savers banks are exposed to various risks which affect efficiency. Using annual panel data for the period 2010 to 2019, this paper investigates the influence of risk-taking behaviour on bank efficiency in a developing economy. Data envelopment analysis technique was used to obtain the profit efficiency scores of each bank and Tobit regression to estimate the impact of various components of bank risks on profit efficiency. Estimation results established that credit and liquidity risks, significantly influence bank efficiency. Therefore, banks should maintain quality assets and a stable liquidity position as they significantly impact on efficiency.

With the reform of the power system, the retail electricity market in China has gradually been liberalized. The mechanism of freely selling electricity have been set up. To grab market share and increase profits, electricity retail companies have introduced a series of retail electricity price packages. To evaluate the applicability of these retail electricity price packages, an adaptive evaluation index system that takes into account the interests of both the power company and the users is first established. Furthermore, an integrated evaluation model that combines data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the cloud model is proposed. In this model, DEA is used to process quantitative indicators and the cloud model is employed to quantify qualitative problems. A case study of Tianjin is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed evaluation system and model. The empirical study shows that qualitative indicators can also affect the applicability of the retail electricity price packages, and the applicability of the retail electricity price package was different in different seasons. Finally, several reliable suggestions on how to design retail electricity price packages are given based on the research. This study provides useful support for customers to choose the price package to increase the competitiveness of power selling companies and ultimately promote the reform of power selling.

Science and Technology Park (STP) is one of the most important innovation policies to develop the regional economy. To manage the STPs successfully, a standard evaluation system as a reference is needed. However, there is no consensus about the definition of successful STPs due to their different goals and regions. Hence, it is necessary to establish a reference framework to evaluate the success of different STPs and it is essential to assess their main goals as the competitive advantage by a set of innovation indicators. This study developed a research model to evaluate the competitiveness of STPs by analyzing the impact of innovation subjective externalities based on the Global Innovation Index (GII) and approach to the eco-innovation key indicator. This STP evaluation model is adopted and tested by two different fuzzy analyzing and examines the survey forms and questionnaires that have been filled by some STP experts and as a case study all the evidence has been gathered and analyzed from “Caohejing Hi-Tech Park” in Shanghai and the results evaluated the competitive advantage via innovation policies and performances and the rating rank contents some innovation main dimensions, key indicators and factors and also the important result as eco-innovation development and diffusion.

The article deals with the verification of a performance evaluation model of innovative companies in the Czech Republic and the evaluation of the impact of a branch on their performance in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. From a methodological point of view, the article is based on the use of Data envelopment analysis (DEA) to evaluate the performance of the selected companies. To evaluate their performance, a two-stage DEA method, BCC model orientated at inputs is used. In the first stage, the effectiveness of resources spent on protecting industrial property rights is evaluated. In the second stage, it is assessed how the companies managed to evaluate registered property rights in terms of added value. The research results show that among branches, there are significant differences in both the overall level of performance, and in its pillars – effectiveness and efficiency. In the conclusion, other potential factors that could affect the company’s performance in terms of effectiveness and efficiency are discussed.

The Financial Master Plan (2001- 2010) aims to enhance the capacity of banking industry so that higher effic iency and productivity can be reaped in the future. This study seeks to determine the impact of merger on the efficiency and productivity ofcommercial banks in Malaysia for the period 1995 until 2005. The study uses a non-parametric approach, nam ely DEA (data envelopment analysis?) to estimate the efficiency scores and to construct the Malmquist productivity index. To enable this estimation, three bank inputs and outputs are used. Amongst the findings are those banks exhibit higher efficiency score after the merger and thefo reign banks are more efficient than the local banks. Productivity of the banks is calculated in both periods, before and after the merger: The results show that, it is the local banks that have improved the most after the merger. The main source of productivity is technical change or innovation. The findings support the existing policy of having larger domestic banks in term of size.

Abstract Agri-food systems include branching ramifications, which connect in the upstream the input suppliers with farmers, and downstream farmers, processors, retailers and consumers. In the last decades, at the level of the regions, food systems have undergone rapid transformation as a result of technological progress. The paper analyzes the changes made to the structure, behavior and performance of the agri-food system and the impact on farmers and consumers. Also, the role of agricultural research as a determinant factor of transformation of agri-food system is analyzed. The research objective is to develop technologies that cover the entire food chain (from farm to fork) and meet the specific requirements of consumers (from fork to farm) through scientific solutions in line with the principles of sustainable agriculture and ensuring the safety and food safety of the population.
