Following the natural muscle antagonist actuation principle, different adaptations for “artificial muscles” are introduced in this work. Polypyrrole (PPy) films of different polymerization techniques (potentiostatic and galvanostatic) were analyzed and their established responses were combined in several ways, resulting in beneficial actuation modes. A consecutive “one-pot” electrosynthesis of two layers with the different deposition regimes resulted in an all-PPy bending hybrid actuator. While in most cases the mixed-ion activity of conductive polymers has been considered a problem or a drawback, here for the first time, the nearly equal expansions upon oxidation and reduction of carefully selected conditions further allowed to fabricate a “mirrored” trilayer laminate, which behaved as a linear actuator.

: An efficient and facial one-pot synthesis of 4-aryl-3,4-dihydrobenzo[g]quinoline- 2,5,10(1H)-triones was developed for the first time. The process proceeded via the three-component cyclocondensation of 2-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone with Meldrum’s acid and substituted benzaldehydes under green conditions. The fused 3,4-dihydropyridin-2(1H)- one-ring naphthoquinones have been synthesized with good to high yields in refluxing ethanol as a green reaction medium. This protocol is simple and effective as well as does not involve the assistance of the catalyst, additive, or hazardous solvents.

A high-yielding cyclocondensation of 4-hydroxycoumarin, phenylglyoxal monohydrate, and heteroarylamines proceeds without catalysis, which gives novel functionalized furo[3,2-c]coumarins and heteroarylamino alkylation of coumarin products in acetonitrile under reflux, is reported for the first time. This tandem process involves sequentially an aldol condensation, Michael addition, a ring closure, and dehydration reaction.

AbstractFor the first time, carborane complexes containing a B(4)–S bond were obtained directly by heating mononuclear Pd-B(4)-bound carborane complexes. A possible mechanism involved in sulfur atom migration is presented in which the leaving group, pyridine, benzyl isocyanide or PPh3, is demonstrated to be the trigger of the reaction process. In this work, efficient routes are developed through one-pot reactions to prepare B(4)-S carborane derivatives.

<p>This work aims to prepare a new bimetallic phosphate catalyst using a new simple and effective method. This new catalyst was ready for the first time by a modification of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) fertilizer with silver sulfate (AgSO4), followed by the impregnation of the aluminum atoms using aluminum nitrate (Al(NO3)3). The use of Al/Ag3PO4, for the first time as a heterogeneous catalyst in organic chemistry, offers a new, efficient, and green pathway for synthesizing 1,2-dihydro-l-phenyl-3H-naphth[1,2-e]-[1,3]oxazin-3-one derivatives by one-pot three-component cyclocondensation of b-naphthol, aryl aldehyde, and urea. The structure and the morphology of the prepared catalyst were characterized by spectroscopic methods such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and dispersive X-ray spectrometry coupled with a scanning electron microscope (EDX-SEM). In addition, the optimization of the reaction parameters was carried out considering the effect of catalyst amount, the temperature, and the solvent. The procedure described herein allowed a comfortable preparation of oxazine derivatives with excellent yields, short reaction times, and in the absence of organic solvent.</p>

<p><b>ABSTRACT:</b> Photo-controlled atom transfer radical polymerization (PhotoATRP) was implemented, for the first time, to accomplish polymerization induced self-assembly (PISA) mediated by UV light (λ = 365 nm) using ppm levels (ca. < 20 ppm) of copper catalyst at ambient temperature. Using CuIIBr2/tris(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amine (TPMA) catalyst systems, PISA was per-formed all in one-pot starting from synthesis of solvophilic poly(oligo(ethylene oxide) methyl ether methacrylate) (POEGMA) blocks to core-crosslinked nanoparticles (NPs) utilizing poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) and N,N-cystamine bismethacrylamide (CBMA) as the solvophobic copolymer and crosslinking agent, respectively. Sequential chain-extensions were performed for PGMA demonstrating capabilities for accessing multi-block copolymers with temporal control via switching the UV light on and off. Further, core-crosslinking of PISA nanoparticles was performed via the slow incorporation of the CBMA enabling one-pot crosslinking during the PISA process. Finally, the disulfide installed in the CBMA core-crosslinks allowed for the stimuli-triggered dissociation of nanoparticles using DL-dithiothreitol at acidic pH.</p>

Abstract: A one-pot conversion of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthoic aldehyde to hydroxamic acid was described. An efficient photoorganocatalytic method of synthesis was developed. The obtained hydroxamic acid was identified by various physicochemical methods such as IR, UV- and NMR-spectroscopy. Solid colored complexes of copper (II) and iron (II), respectively, green and brown colours with the obtained hydroxamic acid were synthesized in ethanol medium for the first time. The molar ratio of ligand and metal in the complex was 2:1. Their structures were established using IR, UV- spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.
