In a tunneling boring machine (TBM), to obtain the attitude in real time is very important for a driver. However, the current laser targeting system has a large delay before obtaining the attitude. So, an adaptive-neuro-fuzzy-based information fusion method is proposed to predict the attitude of a laser targeting system in real time. In the proposed method, a dual-rate information fusion is used to fuse the information of a laser targeting system and a two-axis inclinometer, and then obtain roll and pitch angles with a higher rate and provide a smoother attitude prediction. Considering that a measurement error exists, the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is proposed to model the measurement error, and then the ANFIS-based model is combined with the dual-rate information fusion to achieve high performance. Experimental results show the ANFIS-based information fusion can provide higher real-time performance and accuracy of the attitude prediction. Experimental results also verify that the ANFIS-based information fusion can solve the problem of the laser targeting system losing signals.

AbstractLack of water resources and high water salinity levels are among the most important growth-restricting factors for plants species of the world. This research investigates the effect of irrigation levels and salinity on reflectance of Saint John’s wort leaves (Hypericum perforatum L.) under stress conditions (water and salt stress) by multiple linear regression (MLR), artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Empirical and heuristics modeling methods were employed in this study to relate stress conditions to leaf reflectance. It was found that the constructed ANN model exhibited a high performance than multiple regression and ANFIS in estimating leaf reflectance accurately.

Robotics technology is used widely in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) which provides high performance and accuracy. The most famous robot arm mechanisms, which are used in MIS, are tendon-driven mechanism (TDM), and concentric tube mechanism (CTM). Unfortunately, these mechanisms until now have some limitations, i.e. making friction with the tissue during extracting and retracting and strain limits, for TDM and CTM respectively. A new hybrid concentric tube-tendon driven mechanism (HCTDM) is proposed to overcome these limitations. HCTDM enables the end-effector to get close to and get away from the surgical area during the operation without harming the tissue and with more flexibility. In addition to that, the workspace increases as a result of this combination, too. This benefit serves MIS, especially endoscopic surgeries (ESs). We did an analytical study of this idea and got the forward kinematics. In the inverse kinematics, an intelligent approach which is called an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is used because the closed-form solution is more complicated for such these mechanisms. Finally, HCTDM is analyzed and evaluated by using a computer simulation. The simulation results show that the workspace becomes wider and has more dexterity than use TDM or CTM individually. Furthermore, various trajectories are used to test the mechanism and the kinematic analysis, which show the mechanism can follow and track the trajectories with maximum mean error 1.279, 0.7027, and [Formula: see text] for X, Y, and Z axes respectively.

This study presents the application of an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and one dimensional (1-D) and two dimensional (2-D) hydrodynamic models to improve the problems of hydrological models currently used for flood forecasting in small-medium streams of South Korea. The optimal combination of input variables (e.g., rainfall and water level) in ANFIS was selected based on a statistical analysis of the observed and forecasted values. Two membership functions (MFs) and two ANFIS rules were determined by the subtractive clustering (SC) approach in the processes of training and checking. The developed ANFIS was applied to Jungrang Stream and water levels for six lead times (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 hour) were forecasted. Based on point forecasted water levels by ANFIS, 1-D section flood forecast and 2-D spatial inundation analysis were carried out. This study demonstrated that the proposed methodology can forecast flooding based only on observed data without abundant physical, and can be performed in real time by integrating point- and section flood forecasting and spatial inundation analysis.

The high performance is a goal for all designers to get better, faster, or more efficient than others. This paper proposes a design for virtual reality (VR) of modified PUMA 560 by hybrid controller between adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) controller and fractional order proportional, integral, derivative (FOPID) controller. The main purpose is to obtain the optimal trajectory by get the best value of controller’s parameters that regulate the manipulator movements smoothly to the desired target. The procedure of design start by obtains the optimal values of the traditional PID controller parameters normally. The next step is applied the FOPID controller with high accuracy. It is high performance to control the perplexing physics system than, the classical integer order of PID controller. The final step to get high performance of the control system under considers is achieved by hybrid between FOPID with ANFIS controller which used the pervious output as predictive point. The whole proposed hybrid controller model was simulated and reproduction by MATLAB Version 2019b and Robotic system Toolbox 9. The optimal design of this controller is applied with 3D model of modified PUMA 560 which design by using VR technique under MATLAB/Simulink.

High-Performance Concrete (HPC) is a high-quality concrete that requires special conformity and performance requirements. The objective of this study was to investigate the possibilities of adapting neural expert systems like Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) in the development of a simulator and intelligent system and to predict durability and strength of HPC composites. These soft computing methods emulate the decision-making ability of human expert benefits both the construction industry and the research community. These new methods, if properly utilized, have the potential to increase speed, service life, efficiency, consistency, minimizes errors, saves time and cost which would otherwise be squandered using the conventional approaches.
