The growing influx of people to urban areas has resulted in a tense housing market in many places, making the search for a suitable residence an increased challenge. Dedicated online platforms facilitate this process and offer two distinct approaches to find suitable accommodations concerning its location. Traditionally, users can search for a general area like a city to narrow down the results displayed. Additionally, some platforms offer searches based on the maximum commute time between apartments and points of interest. This paper investigates the benefit such approaches yield concerning technology acceptance and the fit of the task and information representation. Thus, a prototypically implemented online platform with and without a commute time search feature was evaluated in an online experiment. The treatment specification achieved significantly better results in terms of information quality and technology acceptance, implicating that such a design should be preferred for websites that facilitate the search for apartments. These insights can contribute to an enhanced understanding of visual system design to reduce the negative sustainability impacts of traffic induced by a divergence of residential and workplaces.

Providing patients opportunities for self-management and education about their disease, asthma applications designed for use on an Android operating system can have positive health outcomes across the range of demographics who use mHealth applications. This study provides a content analysis of freely available Google Android Platform Mobile Applications for Asthma. A list of applications was collected on 26 October 2014, using the search feature of the Google Play Android platform and using the words and phrases “Asthma,” “Lung Function” and “Peak Flow.” Each application was coded for its approach to asthma self-management, based on categories adapted by Huckvale et al., which are based on the Global Initiative for Asthma and the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program. The characteristics of the 15 asthma applications are described. Most of the asthma applications’ primary function focused on patient self-monitoring and self-assessment. Using the HON Code, we found low health information quality across all asthma applications. Android asthma applications can have positive outcomes in helping patients as they provide opportunities for self-management and education about their disease. Future research should continue to monitor and evaluate the development and use of mHealth Asthma Applications. Based on these findings, and their indication of a gap in existing research, subsequent studies can continue to evaluate the development and use of mHealth Asthma Applications with increasing methodological consistency to improve the quality of in-app health information.

Understanding users’ safety perception of the credibility of web-based information has become increasingly important in the context of new retailing. This study extends the existing literature by exploring the factors influencing information credibility in the context of new retailing. Based on the technology acceptance model and the rational behavior theory, a theoretical model for the assessment of information credibility in new retailing was developed. We analyzed the factors influencing users’ safety preference toward information communication procedures and information credibility in new retailing based on two aspects: perceived information quality and user judgment motivation. The reliability and validity of the model measure were analyzed, and structural equation modeling was used to test the model hypotheses. The following results were obtained: (1) Authenticity, accuracy, and practicability positively affected the perceived information quality of new retailing information; (2) User judgment motivation had a positive impact on information users’ safety preference and information credibility; (3) Users’ safety preference positively affected information credibility; (4) Information acquisition, social interaction, and self-identity positively affected the perceived credibility of new retailing information.

Today, information and communication technology (ICTs) are influencing health system development across many developing countries, particularly through the application of mobile communications. As such, there has been an initiation of a new paradigm of mobile health services which has made healthcare delivery more accessible, affordable and effective. However, such service delivery platform has been mainly targeted towards the rural population, so there is growing concerns about its acceptance and future use intentions in the urban areas. The aim of this paper is to examine and critically assess the underlying factors that can influence future use intentions of mHealth services in the context of Bangladesh. The conceptual model of the study identifies that information quality, facilitating conditions, trust and effort expectancy plays an important role in capturing users' overall perceptions of mobile health services. Finally, the study highlights the managerial implications, future research directions and limitations from the perspective of Bangladesh.

Signalized traffic control is important in traffic management to reduce congestion in urban areas. With recent technological developments, more data have become available to the controllers and advanced state estimation and prediction methods have been developed that use these data. To fully benefit from these techniques in the design of signalized traffic controllers, it is important to look at the quality of the estimated and predicted input quantities in relation to the performance of the controllers. Therefore, in this paper, a general framework for sensitivity analysis is proposed, to analyze the effect of erroneous input quantities on the performance of different types of signalized traffic control. The framework is illustrated for predictive control with different adaptivity levels. Experimental relations between the performance of the control system and the prediction horizon are obtained for perfect and erroneous predictions. The results show that prediction improves the performance of a signalized traffic controller, even in most of the cases with erroneous input data. Moreover, controllers with high adaptivity seem to outperform controllers with low adaptivity, under both perfect and erroneous predictions. The outcome of the sensitivity analysis contributes to understanding the relations between information quality and performance of signalized traffic control. In the design phase of a controller, this insight can be used to make choices on the length of the prediction horizon, the level of adaptivity of the controller, the representativeness of the objective of the control system, and the input quantities that need to be estimated and predicted the most accurately.

Purpose This purpose of this paper is to evaluate Millennials’ intention to use service mobile apps and assess gender as a moderator. Design/methodology/approach An extended technology acceptance model framework that includes information quality and self-efficacy guides this research. PLS-SEM is used to evaluate the data and test the hypotheses. Findings The study reveals that information quality, self-efficacy, perceived ease of use and usefulness, and attitude influence Millennials’ intentions to use service mobile apps. Additionally, gender is found to partially moderate the results. Practical implications Service companies that rely on mobile apps to deliver services ought to consider the disparities among the Millennial generation, increasing the likelihood that Millennial customers will adopt service mobile apps and that they receive acceptable customer experiences. Originality/value This paper examines the factors influencing adoption and use of service mobile apps among Millennials and examines gender as a moderator. Additionally, guidelines for service mobile app design are included.

This study examines factors influencing the user acceptance of intranets in the restaurant industry. The study uses the application of the technology acceptance model (TAM) in explaining intranet usage in restaurant operations. The TAM is an exceptional model for which to predict system usage and has been successfully applied to numerous technologies. The original model was modified to include two independent variables: organization support and information quality. The survey collected data from restaurants in the United States. The results of the study showed that perceived usefulness was the main factor influencing intranet acceptance, while organization support, information quality, and perceived ease of use were not significant in the regression analysis. The findings indicate perceived usefulness of intranet use requires focus in order to improve communications in restaurant franchise systems.
